Cozy's Cottage - Short Rib Skillet - Incredible!

Cozy's Cottage

Outstanding. In every regard…read more Fantastic brunch spot. And a cool location inside a large country house. Definitely try the Short Rib Skillet and Bloody Mary's. And get a side of Grilled Andouille.

Cozy's Cottage has always been a hit‑or‑miss spot for us, and unfortunately our September 18 visit…read morelanded firmly in the "miss" category. My husband ordered the soup and shaved Caesar, while I went with the Carbonara. The soup arrived lukewarm, and the shaved Caesar was awkward to eat--shaved romaine simply doesn't cooperate with a fork. The Carbonara was completely uneatable and the biggest disappointment. What arrived at the table looked more like a soupy, broken sauce with noodles swimming underneath and a barely cooked egg collapsing into the bowl than anything resembling Carbonara. The photo says it all: a runny, unsettled mixture that never came together as a cohesive dish. To their credit, the manager removed it from the bill and apologized, explaining that a new chef is still learning the recipes and that the dish should never have been served that way. The issue, of course, is that it was served that way. Cozy's seems to be experimenting with "deconstructed" presentations, but it isn't working. The shaved lettuce Caesar came topped with a deviled egg, and the Carbonara featured that nearly raw egg sitting on top of a watery sauce. Sometimes sticking with what you know is the better choice. Despite this visit, we'll likely return--Cozy's can be charming, and when they get it right, the food can be quite good. But consistency remains their biggest challenge. Next time, I'll ordered the fried chicken!

Retreat 21 - Retreat 21 Taphouse Cider

Got to go and visit here with family and loved the layout and atmosphere!…read more Lots of different areas to hang out in and sit. Looking for a cabana style spot for you and some friends? Got it. A quiet corner to have a drink and relax? Yup. A main open area to be around groups of people? Check! We loved walking around and exploring the different areas and seeing the views! The flight of ciders was a treat and we enjoyed trying 4 different ones and comparing which we liked best! (Lemon ginger was a BIG hit!) The staff were all friendly and helped narrow down our choices. There's a separate part of the property where they hold weddings and events, which would be beautiful! Looked like they also have food trucks and music in the tap house regularly too. Looking forward to visiting again when I am back in town, gotta try the new seasonal flavor!

We stopped here last Thursday to visit my son's friend, Matt who just happens to be the head…read moregroundskeeper. Dylan had wanted to show me how beautiful this place has become and also wanted me to meet Matt. Im certainly glad I did! Matt spent some time with us and let us explore the property. Matt is great! Retreat21 is lucky to have him as we found the landscaping to be wonderful. From the patios, to the right amount of gravel on the road, to their gorgeous, landscaped pond and event center and OH! can we mention how they incorporated a 100+ old oak to serve as an altar in their woodland sanctuary. Perfection!!! There is a large guest cabin that can be rented, plus seven other ones and a handful of geodomes. Each cabin has a private hot tub and fire pit. The geodomes just have a fire pit. At the front of the property is a large barn that has been converted to a tasting room. They have several house made craft wines and ciders. You can take those out to enjoy on one of three nice sized patios... one has hanging swings! They serve charcuterie, boards, and flatbreads... I'm on the weekends. They have food trucks. They also have yoga on the weekends that you can do in their vineyard -pretty cool along with other events This is a great addition to the Columbus area and Marysville. I think it's gonna be very successful. Definitely worth the trip to visit.
