I'm a laid-back bride and I appreciated her relaxation, yet incredible attention to detail, during the planning process. We met for coffee twice and communicated via email in between. She brought up questions I hadn't even thought of, created the agendas, communicated with vendors, chimed in when we needed advice and made our wedding perfect. She's the kind of wedding planner that will make sure you eat at your own wedding (so you don't pass out), will snag you for that perfect sunset shot, and keep the event running smoothly while you enjoy the best night ever. So, when we began planning, we knew we'd need some extra hands on deck as our venue didn't come with a built in events coordinator. Plus, I was planning a wedding in Indiana from my home in San Francisco, which can be very stressful. I got Jessica's name from two girlfriends, and after my initial email to her about a year ago, we got on the phone to talk through my wedding vision. Now, as a publicist, I have planned my share of large scale events, so I really wanted Jessica to sell me (and especially my parents) on her services and why we would need her help. And that's exactly what she did! Jessica has so much experience planning all kinds of weddings, she asked really smart and detail-oriented questions, but I think what sold me is that Jessica also had an outdoor, at home reception in September a few years ago, so I knew she'd take great care of us. Jessica's support throughout the process was so critical to helping us pull off a fabulous wedding. What I love most about Jessica is that she wants to work with brides who love to plan - that's me! In the months leading up to the wedding, Jessica's makes sure you've thought of absolutely everything and nothing falls through the cracks. We had one or two calls last Fall to talk through wedding details and decide on the right planning package for us (more on that below). When I was back in Indiana in the Spring, Jessica came to my parents' home in Muncie to walk through the yard and help us make some decisions on placing the tent, band, bar, etc. She has so much experience and really great ideas, so she helped us take lots of things into consideration. Then, we had two more meetings to run through every single detail before the big day. She's very flexible on timing for meetings and what works best with your schedule. We selected JDWC's Wedding Day package, which consists of 12 hours on-site on the wedding day, plus planning meetings leading up to the big day. My parents were a little hesitant when they saw the price tag, but I can't tell you how many times throughout the planning process I heard them say "I don't know what we would do without Jessica - she's worth every penny!" and I couldn't agree more. I would highly recommend Jessica Dum Wedding Coordination to any bride who is thinking she might need some help on her big day!

We had my daughters reception here and it was absolutely beautiful. They've made a lot of improvements over the year since we booked. There's still a few kinks they need to work out as they are new but it is a beautiful place. All the wood details and tables are handmade. All the lights, chandeliers and fire pits make it perfect at night. They have a wedding wall where they put all their bride and grooms names up...don't have a photo as they spelled my daughters name wrong(one of the kinks I was talking about). They have a lot of places for photos and a cute area to get married. There's private houses for the bridal party to get ready. To help work out some of the kinks...Make sure you go over what you agreed on over and over even if you think it's minimal. A few things were agreed on then became a problem the night of which no one wants to go through on their big night. They all could've been avoided easily in the set up meeting but They are still a newer venue and we lost about the last hour of our reception dealing with things that we shouldn't have had to. If it hadn't been for this and a couple other things I would definitely give 5 stars.

Because I and the several dozen other people attending the wedding plus the staff got to visit the basement because there was a tornado warning in the area, and we all had to seek shelter. Whee! The staff at Black Iris were pros, though, and made sure everyone was safe and calm. They made a stressful situation into a (kinda) fun situation that everyone will remember forever. Anyway, the basement is large, but so is the rest of the space! And it's beautiful and tastefully decorated, with lots of antiques and mirrors. We never really got to go outside because the wedding was happening during severe weather, but from that little I saw, the grounds were beautiful too. Also, the food here was some of the best food I've had at a wedding. I'm not sure if the food was from an outside caterer or what, but I want to say that it was in-house. And the open bar was nice, too, and the bartenders were quick and generous. I enjoyed myself as a wedding guest at this place. It was classy but comfortable!

From the moment we arrived at the Mill Top Convention Center, we knew we this is going to be thee coolest! This venue far exceeded all our expectations and made our wedding day nothing short of mind blowing (my cousins even said so)! We were everywhere! The space was immaculate, with perfect decor that we selected and their own. We had a massive group and a layout perfectly accommodated our guests. Every corner of the venue was designed for photos, so the reception felt both elegant and comfortable. We met a lot of the staff personally! Way to go Toni and Hilary, and Rocky All staff were incredibly accommodating and attentive, I'm embarrassed that I don't remember all the names. They went above and beyond, especially when we requested a live stream of our ceremony for guests who couldn't attend in person. Their professionalism and willingness to cater to our specific requests really made us feel like VIP. But lemme tell you about this!!! One of the highlights of our experience was the Bridal Suite and Man Cave, which are unmatched in style and amenities. The spaces were stylish and provided a perfect hideaway for us and our wedding party to relax and prepare for the big day. We even enjoyed watching the Colts game on a theater screen, adding a fun twist to our preparations! I'm still not finished.... We had a fantastic lineup of entertainment! The live piano player when our guest arrived, while the saxophone player added a nice touch to our cocktail hour. As the night progressed, the DJ kept the energy pumping during our casino-style reception!! The full bar service was exceptional, offering a couple of bride and groom drinks that they helped us create. To top it off, the venue accommodated a special request for a spirit (and it ain't easy to find either if you know me) we wanted, we literally had everything we wished for. Sooooooo... I travel a lot and have eaten a lot of buffets ( so much so I hate them) but the food here was excellent! Fresh, well prepared, and I heard so many compliments about how good the food was. The planning assistance was spot on and the service during the event was excellent. Only complaint was the lines at the bar. Needed more bartenders and maybe do a premix of the signature cocktails to speed things up for the first few rounds so people don't have to wait. Since it is a historic building, the main room has some obstacles that prevent good viewing from all of the seats, but it is compensated by a really cool building and atmosphere.
