Hidden Valley Orchards is a beautiful place. I went for the Apple fest, and the selection of apples were amazing. I really liked the Japanese apples that they had. The spiked apple cider was also really good. It was really nice being able to walk around and look at all the flowers. But I did find it a little pricey to be able to go to the other areas. read more

There's pluses and minuses to this place. One of the biggest minuses I've experienced in my visits is me constantly going "does anyone work here??" Want to purchase from the gift shop? Not an employee in sight. The food and bar always seem to be closed. Can't even find where to purchase their famous doughnuts. They built the huge play area for children which is great! But please don't advertise all your food and drink options if it's never going to be open or an employee around to check you out. Nothing like your toddler melting down because they want a juice and you can't find a way to pay for it. I love the baby animals and all the kids activities but until they figure out how to properly run this place I probably won't come back. read more

I think this may be my 4th or 5th fall going to Hidden Valley, and I love it every time. Living in the city, it's fun to make the extra drive north to really feel like you're escaping to a fun adventure. This year, they added SO many activities for kids! We do not have kids, but if you are a parent you should really check out all the fun and cute activities they have for little ones to do. I love the pumpkin patch and the apple orchards. They also had more food options this year. We ate from the chicken food truck and our food was really good. You absolutely have to get an apple cider slushy though - that's the main reason why we go. You can add in some bourbon at the bar! Can't wait to go again next year. read more

Hidden Valley Orchards has always been one of my favorite farms to visit it for. They have the best apple cider donuts and apple fritters. My husband and I have been going every year for seven years or so. We just had our first baby and we're excited to take him for the first time, so we stopped in the other day. We noticed everything was majorly re-organized and confusing-- not just because it was different than we knew it to be before, but because there were cash registers everywhere and we learned the hard way that not all the cash registers can check out every item you want to buy, so you have to try to find which cash register can check you out. We learned that the changes were due to new management. However, they clearly kept the same apple fritter recipe, because it was just as delicious as I remember. The cider donuts are bigger, but I say better than past years? You get to sample them before you buy them. They are much bigger than anticipated. We also got a "frosty cow", which is apple cider/with vanilla soft serve. 100/10 recommend. I have been on the hunt this fall for a really good cider as I have found most likely to be too sweet and prefer a balance of sweet and tart. The cider they serve is great! I believe it is Wesler brand? When we went outside, we saw a massive amount of construction as they have put up a ton of kid activities. While they have clearly worked hard to make them look nice and establish some branding, it is definitely very different than in past years when you were able to just look out over the beautiful Orchard and pumpkin patch. I always loved this place above others because it hadn't turned into one giant play yard.... There used to be some really great food options in the main building, but now that spot just serves sweet treats. The building next-door has pizza, which we didn't try. And then way down in the play yard, there is a food truck type stand, selling chicken tenders, burgers, and fries. We got a classic chicken sandwich and fries for $14. It was a good value. The sandwich didn't look terribly exciting, but I was pleasantly surprised when I bit into it. They clearly toast the bun or something because it gave a lot of flavor to the sandwich. The waffle fries were pretty normal seasoned waffle fries. While I did enjoy them, and can't believe I was saying this, they gave us too much. We saw tons of fries in the trashcan, indicating others thought the same. I can definitely appreciate good value for my money, but I can see them actually losing some money here. I am a big leftovers person, so I took mine home and ate them for dinner! We did get some good news that they planted over 2000 apple trees and are planning to really bring back their apple productions that they can make their own cider there. Curious to see what it will all look like next year! read more

I can't believe this fall was my first visit to this farm! It was absolutely beautiful. The stunning views and heavenly smell of donuts were the best welcome. There was something for all ages. My kids loved the playground area and activity yard. My husband and I visited the bar and tried delicious cider-themed beverages. The server was very thoughtful and treated our daughters to frozen drinks. It made them so happy! My only complaint was the cost of the activity yard. It was $60 for a family of four, and some of the activities were out of service. Overall, we had a great time and will certainly return! read more

Very lovely piece of land with nice bar and fire out area- would be great as a destination for a party bus type girls day out or an evening with friends, or maybe a nice place for a photo shoot. It's very big so prepare to walk or bring wagon/stroller. We went at the end of the season for a fun fall activity so there weren't a really any pumpkins or sunflowers left and not really a lot for kids other than a really short tractor hay ride and playground- there is a small waterfall- but it was dry at the time we visited. The place is very beautiful and the food we had was delicious- sandwich, tenders and fries food truck was on point. The apple cider donuts are the most flavorful spiced cake donuts I have ever had and the French bread pizza looked and smelled delicious- but we didn't try it as we were too full from other food. It's a bit of a drive from where we live, but if we are ever back in the area, we will definitely stop by again to try the pizza and get more donuts! read more

Hidden Valley Orchards is a good spot to hang out and drink but don't expect apple picking or a long time in pumpkin picking. For the most part, they have all the produce out at the front of the store to choose rather than going out and picking your own. They had just run out slushee cider when we went but they had pretty good little treats. The outdoor bar was great and for the smaller amount of people there it was open to get a drink in a short time. They had so much space for games and even have so much space for events. We went out to the fields to roam around the property and I would just advise to be very careful on the hill down as one of the members of my group fell and hurt her knee. They had goats on the property to go see as well which was interesting for an orchard to have. read more

I have been wanting to come and visit for a long time. I had heard that they have excellent pie. The day I went, it was beautiful however, it was at the tail end of the season. Food was not available, and the baked goods were scant in nature. I had to settle for some absolutely beautiful scenery and some beers. This is not a problem. I was able to try a couple beers from Lexington Kentucky, and also some Ohio beer. The grounds are beautiful and nice for walking around. There is a lovely covered bridge just down the way. If you are here earlier in the season, they have bonfires hayrides and more. read more

We had a large group of 40 women out for Name That Tune and HVO did a wonderful job accommodating us! They set up four large tables which was plenty of room for us all. The drinks and food were very good. And the service was amazingly quick! We had problems with this in the past, but people's items were ready within a few minutes. I had the pretzels and beer cheese and a cranberry margarita which were yummy. They had a lot of fall cocktails and everyone seemed to really enjoy them. A special shoutout to Marianne from Team Tune Trivia who worked with us before the event to make sure they'd be ready for us. We used to love HVO. Now it's just a ridiculous money grab. Want to let the kids play? $15. PER PERSON. And adults cannot enter to supervise without paying. Want to look at the grounds/waterfall? Oh that's another $16 per person. No apple cider at all just slushies. Even the apple cider they do sell isn't made there and neither are the caramel apples they repackage to look more homemade. The food choices are just pizza and a few chicken sandwiches and the firepits? A cool $150 for two hours. Ridiculous. We were initially excited about the newly added animals and play area but for these prices we'll find a new orchard for our fall activities. read more

Correct me if I'm wrong but if you say you're open at 12 I feel like you should be open and ready to go at 12? There was absolutely NOTHING ready. The store was dark. None of the workers greeted us. None of the bakery items were out. NOTHING was ready. To the point we thought we'd accidentally came in when it was closed but sure enough you had some worker out there with a sign that said open. The employee at the register had no idea what was happening which only added to the feeling like we'd walked in on them getting ready. Then there's the fact that they had caramel apples but wouldn't sell them because they weren't in the system yet which begs the question of how long those apples are sitting before they're bought. $1 an apple is ridiculous given how long they're also sitting there. It really is truly a shame. This place was such an amazing staple of the community and somewhere I always recommended to people new to the area but not anymore. Years ago I came here as a child with my parents to a festival and won a pet rabbit. My parents didn't think I would win, but I won on the first try. Oops! Years later, I came back today to the apple cider donut festival with a friend and loved the space!! It's so beautiful and would be perfect for hosting weddings or other events. The main barn is divided into a few areas: a market, a restaurant, and and ice cream barn. In the back they also have a taproom and tons of outdoor seating with string lights. There is a large playground for kids to run around and further back they have a petting zoo with mini goats. I was looking for the pumpkins they mentioned stop could purchase but I couldn't find them. We grabbed some donuts (apple cider and pumpkin) and cider from the express line and then went to the market to grab apples and a glass of cherry apple cider. The cider was so refreshing and the cherry was subtle enough to add some flavor but not overpower. I loved that you can bag your own apples instead of many places that pre-bag them for you to purchase. This allowed me to mix 3 different varieties in one bag instead of having to buy a couple bags of each type. I got Jonathan, McIntosh and Honeycrisp. We also grabbed some apple butter and pumpkin butter from the store, and a loaf of Cincinnati Chili Bread which sounded crazy to me - looking forward to trying that! (It's like a loaf of bread infused with the flavors of Skyline Chili). We loaded everything in the car and then took a walk back to see the goats and find the pumpkins. We found the goats but not the pumpkins - I'm nearly 9 months pregnant and wasn't willing to walk super far back to find the pumpkins so we turned around Then we grabbed some dole whip and ate that while resting. Drove 45 minutes to show up and just got the door literally slammed in our faces by teenagers who work here and they just put a closed sign up even though their website say their open for another 2 hours and with events going on. The employees didn't say a word to us even though we were standing with other guests trying to get in. Very rude and very disappointed in wanting to come after hearing great things. read more

I used to visit every year with my partner for a cute fall date. It was the perfect place to grab some good drinks, yummy food, buy some farm grown apples or pumpkins, and walk around and enjoy the natural scenery. This year we decided to bring some friends along after hyping it up for years and found ourselves utterly disappointed. The new owners have ruined most of the charm of this place. The store was lackluster comparatively. The bar had a smaller drink menu and they no longer make any ciders on property, which is disappointing. They have replaced the orchards and pumpkin fields with only child centered activities. Articles claim the new owners want to "preserve farmland" but I'm not sure how replacing fields with play areas does that... Everything costs $16 per person to access which alone is ridiculous. The worst part is as a group of adults with no children we didn't want to do any of the activities, we just wanted to walk around the natural areas which also cost $16 to access. An expensive paywall to see nature which we previously were able to see for free is ridiculous. This place used to be the perfect place for young adults to enjoy a date or hang out with friends as opposed to many pumpkin patches that are centered around children. Now it all feels like a cash grab as many other reviews have pointed out. I am heartbroken to see a place that was so dear to me become another soulless capitalist business. read more

The Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association® Ohio 12-4 has been planning a state meeting for the Association (CVMA® OH 12) for about 6 months, Hidden Valley Orchards was donating a barn for the state meeting. Last Friday CVMA® OH 12-4 form was told the new owners would not honor the donation and we are just over a month out from the meeting. I know they have a business to run but not to honor a commitment from the previous owners is not honorable and I cannot support a business that would do this to a veteran origination. It is your loss as we will never stop in and support this place ever again, as the new owners have no honor. Maybe they should go back to California and practice their bad business practices there. read more

Hidden Valley isn't so hidden because it's so good. Which is impressive because it's not in a prime location, but the people come and come and come. Hidden Valley offers so much, bakery (check), with good coffee and teas (check), taproom (check) with ciders and the only keg of Shorts's pumpkin chucka in OH (check) and a kitchen with meatloaf, chicken and dumplings, BBQ, pretzels and beer cheese and other amazing goodness like (check). Ooo and don't forget their very own hidden Valley pickles (yeah, they are a big deal). And all this is in a super cool barn, surrounded by Apple orchards, trails and fire pits. They have lots of fun events and great Holiday and Christmas decor. Friendly staff, and lots of amazing local products to purchase in their store. We love this place and are close neighbors. Just hung out tonight with friends, but was much less crowded than in previous years. We would often hear music from our house and it never bothered us. We like to see local business thrive and HVO has been a great place to hang out during the past few years. I hope that zoning restrictions and complaints from local Karens aren't hurting their business because we love having them in our backyard. Great place to visit in the Fall as well. read more

Our first time here. A really great little spot! We stopped in to check out the orchard and store. We picked up some yummy treats all locally made, and we headed out to the backyard bar in the apple orchard. We got the Apple cider mule of course. And we loved it! There are tractor wagon tours of the farm and lots of things to see and do no matter what age you are feeling! Wonderful friendly staff too. The barn/country vibe here is charming. read more

The chicken tenders were very good. They changed the area where the music is played and if you are sitting at a table outside you are unable to hear the music. Better acoustics need to be put in if they are going to have a centered playing area. I think they are trying to make it centered but everyone should be able to hear the music. It was not as crowded as it usually was when the music was on the back part of the building. They have such a great area but would suggest better acoustics for the bands to be heard. read more

Very cool place! Nice play ground for the kids and adults have a great selection of drafts and cocktails at their covered outdoor bar. Nice little farm shop too and everyone was super friendly! But, be sure to come hungry if you like BBQ; wow, some of the best rib tips I've had; wife had brisket and it was awesome too! Great way to relax and spend a beautiful spring day!! I have heard wonderful things about this particular orchard and I was excited to finally visit it. However, the reports were for a lot of their outdoor events. I was invited to one of their Barn buffet & live music events as my first time there. The description had mentioned having a heated barn, but when we were there, it still felt cold. The buffet did not have a lot of options for dietary limitations, but their chili (which I was able to have), was quite delicious. Being a barn, it's expected to be very echoey and loud from the music, so it made it difficult for conversation. When it gets warmer, I would like to return to experience one of their outdoor activities. read more

We came by in the fall to walk the grounds to soak up the ambiance and have some ice cream. Ice cream was excellent. Live music was being set up outside and there was a pavilion with beer and hard cider drinks. We walked to the goats and then down to the waterfall. If we had more time, we would have enjoyed listening to the band and having a few drinks. Since you are sitting outside, you can bring your own picnic. This is, by far, the most expansive "pumpkin patch" place I've EVER been to. Instead of thinking of Hidden Valley Orchards as a tiny market, it helps to think of it as a giant experience meant to take a few hours of walking around and exploring - and focus on social connections with friends/family. We're talking a gigantic paved walking path through the farm, multiple firepits, a full-service bar area, an entire market, a small-menu grab-your-meal restaurant, a little ice cream shop, large children's play yard, and more. Honestly, it's gigantic. Be prepared to walk if you want to explore everything there is to see - but you can easily park, go into the market, get your veggies, and head out if walking isn't your thing. Be aware there's a lot of uneven surfaces for walking because it's a farm. I'm really, really excited to return. PROS: -I'm ridiculously impressed by a full-service, open air bar that had themed fall drinks. It was staffed by two people - and had multiple craft beers and cocktails on draft (not just cans out of a fridge). This bar opens out into a large, social-focused area with picnic tables, chairs surrounding fire pits, and more. -I'm super-duper excited to come back and do their U-Pick activities. Their apple and pumpkin harvest was too small for U-pick this year, but they still had quite a few available for purchase. I did, unfortunately, have to watch unsupervised kids smash some of the pumpkins in and jump on them (seriously, parents, pay attention. That's someone's livelihood.) -Firepits were "start your own fire" - but there were multiple couples snuggled up in blankets, sharing drinks, next to their own firepit. It was super adorable. -Late hours! By the time we get off work - and can make the drive - making it to a pumpkin patch by 6PM (most patch's close times) is near-impossible. Probably due to the addition of the alcohol, Hidden Valley Orchards is open until 10PM most days. -Parking lot is really close to the barn/market. This is great if you wanna grab and go. The parking lot isn't particularly huge, though, so I'm not sure if I'm missing an overflow area. I have to imagine this place fills up way more than the parking lot showed space for. -Looking at the website to ensure I didn't miss anything, I just realized they freakin' host cute events almost every night. This place is magical. CONS: -"Farm" bathrooms. I didn't explore the interior bathrooms built into the barn market, so those may have been indoor-standard, but a lot of porta-potties on the property. Normally bathrooms are a last-resort for me with farm markets, but with a bar on-site, I know I'd be utilizing them if I wanted to snuggle up near the fire with drinks. read more
