Stop into the store for your apple picking supplies
Elyse F.

At a little more than 1 hour drive from our house, A&M has been bookmarked, but took a little convincing to get my hubby to check it out. Our family had a good time. We arrived just after opening, on a weekday. Ours and the other family that came with us had the place to ourselves. Started in the farm store for buckets, and instructions. We took a bucket per family. Our heaping bucket ended up being 25 pounds of a variety of apples. We picked in the back orchard. There are some beautiful views. Most of the varieties of apples we picked were in great condition. There were a couple that were spotted. We just didn't pick as many of those. It wasn't a big deal. About two hours was spent picking, and walking around. For those who want farm fresh apples without the work, pre picked apples are available as well. A word of caution. This is not a tourist's farm. Well kept, but not polished and shinny. If anyone in your party needs assistance, or has difficulty walking, stick to the front orchard. For the back orchard we had to cross a very small stream. The terrain was bumpy. A wheelchair or standard stroller would not make it. We borrowed one of their utility wagons. (Loved that they were available BTW.) It had some trouble at times. (Granted it did rain the day before.) In my eyes this isn't a reason to lose a star. I could see it being a problem for some. We liked the natural feeling. As others have stated, cash or check only. Prices for upick apples are per pound, and were reasonable.

Pumpkins and apple picking!

I had been looking for a good apple picking farm in southwestern Ohio for years now, and I finally found one in A&M Farm Orchard. This farm was exactly what I was looking for. When you arrive you head into their main "store" area where you grab a bucket with a bag in it for all your apple pickings. The staff there is very helpful and will direct you on exactly where to go within the orchard for whichever certain types of apples you are looking for. Basically there are two main orchards..one right near the store..and the other about a five minute walk from there. They do also have a tractor with a wagon to cart people back and forth during the busy times. They offer tools as well that help in getting the apples at the top of the trees..and it works really well for that. There were a ton of people there the day that we went but there are just so many apple trees that there were plenty of apples to go around..really great looking apples at that. Being this time of year they also had a vast selection of pumpkins to choose from. Anything picked from the ground or a tree is paid for by weight..and prices there are very reasonable. Also at the store they have a selection of apple related products..apple cider (which is amazing), caramel for dipping etc. We had a really fun afternoon picking apples here and got some great stuff to bring home as well..I highly recommend checking this out..it seems especially fun for kids.

This was quite the drive out from near downtown Cincinnati. It was impossible to miss even we got near, especially with all of the cars parked in front. We got our bag (or bucket if you want) and went about picking apples. There was a good variety of apples, and it was almost too many to choose from. Luckily the rows are all closely spaced and some are redundant. The trees themselves had a nice quantity and quality of apples on them when we went in mid-september. There were plenty of low-hanging fruit, and there were special picking poles available for higher up ones. Overall I thought the apples were pretty reasonably priced. I forgot the exact cost so I won't comment on that, but if you drove all the way out to pick apples from the tree instead of in the store a small price bump isn't too much concern. We ended up buying six pounds of apples each, and I made a delicious apple butter from them at home. My concerns were two: Firstly, there wasn't much else to do besides pick apples. I wish they had some activity or other attention also available during the pre-pumpkin season. Secondly, the grass between the rows of apple trees was way too long. It was to the point of having to high step if you didn't want to be wacked by weeds walking around.

Just came here the other day with my mom, sister, brother and two nephews to do some apple picking. Just a note this is a drive and out in the middle of nowhere, not that it's a problem. We live in Glendale and it was a 55 min drive. A&M Farm Orchard is a place where you go in and tell them I want to pick apples and they give you a bucket with a bag in and an apple picker and off your party walks for a half mile into the apple orchards. There are plenty of rows of apple trees, but when we came many of them have been picked and with the horrible drought this summer it really hurt them. Be prepared to walk through mud and thru high grass to pick apples so dress accurately. The store sells apples, apple cider and many apple products like butter, jam etc. Everyone was very nice and I can't wait till next year to come out here and pick some more. A note- I would plan a day out of it, the drive thru Goshen and Blanchester is beautiful and the best doughnut shop in Cincinnati is along the way. Another note- they only accept cash and check.

Best cider around. My wife can't drive within 20 miles without "swingin by" to get several bottles. Make great gifts.

A hidden gem. Great prices and friendly staff. We went a little later in the picking season this year so the orchard was fairly picked over.

I'll start: our biggest…read morecomplaint over the winter was not the cold, not the darkness that comes at 5pm, no, our biggest complaint was that our beloved farmer's market was rightfully closed for the winter, and between November and April we had to buy bread not from the Findlay Market's famous Blue Oven Bakery, but from other random places (none of which compared, we made a mission of it). We had to buy produce not from the stalls of local farmers filled with fresh produce at a great price that encouraged us to venture out, no, we had to get it at Kroger. And fresh flowers from a sweet woman who runs Jaybird Farms and makes beautiful wreaths out of dry flowers, no, I had to get those at the grocery store too. Ridiculous complaints, I know, but I don't care. The Loveland Farmer's market is awesome. There's an eclectic mix of vendors from all over Southwestern Ohio. Produce, bread, baked goods, tea, coffee, knife sharpening - it's got it. Most vendors accept cards and there's a great system in place for those who don't that is cheaper and easier than getting money out from an ATM. Plus, you get to walk around licking a Street Pops popsicle which makes it all the better.

During the start of the 2020 season is what put me over the top with 5 stars. They were determined to start the market as best they could. They set it up so it was pre-order online, and drive thru contactless pickup. While this limited some of the vendors available, as not all have that kind of technology, they did the best they could to continue with safety. I took full advantage of this and was very pleased with how it went. Now that things are opening back up they are again doing a walk up market, but still with the option to pre-order and pickup. The vendors are quality and all very passionate about their products. They really have everything from produce, meats, eggs, dairy, plants, cheesecake, pastas, bath products, bread and baked goods and so much more! Some of my favorite vendors are Blue Oven, Five One Three Bagel, TS Farms, and Jaybird farms. Check it out whatever way you can! The website and social media stays updated for what vendors will be attending!

There were free samples, and the whole store was filled with fresh local food at very fair prices- it THRILLED me! I have been to many local markets, but Hawks Run still thoroughly exceeded my previous expectations!! It feels like a vintage grocery store, but with all the modern products you could hope for in the 2020s. Even in February, there is fresh local produce and very high quality foods and natural products. The owner told me that many people shop here for the gluten free options, and I can see why!! There was a thrilling amount of gluten free bakery items (I sampled the chocolate chip cookie that tastes so good you couldn't have guessed it was gluten free, YUM!) Outside, there is lovely seating options and plenty of room for kids to play. Lots of nice lighting for when it gets dark. It seems like a wonderful place to gather in warm weather! I truly cannot wait to return, both in the cold months and once it is summer!! I cannot rave about it enough, but I made sure the business was here on Yelp so I could leave a review (so hopefully that shows my enthusiasm haha)!
