Thank you for visiting our neighborhood, Monsta Lobsta! I had the Lobsta Bisque and a Lobsta Roll smothered in said bisque. A perfect order for me. I will try to remember "no scallions" next time but they were nicely sized and easy enough to remove. The bun was a majir contribution to the Lobsta Roll. Nice and fresh and tasty. A bun can make or break it, and this one made it! The smothered roll had a good amount of Bisque so it felt like good value. And it left my cup of Bisque to enjoy on its own without having to dunk my roll in it (much). Oh, and another thing I enjoyed/appreciated us that we left the ordering window wit our food. This food truck show up at the Asian festival on the past week end. I always look be to have New England type lobster roll. This will serve the purpose of my craving. The roll cost $14. They did advertising 4oz roll which I did not paid attention. What the roll actually comes with is 4 oz of lobster meat and the remaining fillings is imitation crab meat. Which most expensive that I have don't have full roll with lobster meat. I would have reading the fine print which most of us not catching it. I would rather they charge us higher price with full lobster meat. The roll did pack with a lot of imitation crab meat. Overall look good. It does have good ratings in Yelp. They do carry some lobster bisque and blue crab meat roll. Food truck is decent but I would just give options for full lobster meat. read more

Tonight I made a u-turn when I drove by their food truck in Maitland. What a happy surprise to find them hanging out by Lake Lilly. There is a roll on the menu called "indecision" which is half crab and half lobster, haven't tried it yet but sounds wonderful. Well, it looked delicious and had large chunks of lobster on top but underneath was some sort of strange salad that had chunks of some other off tasting seafood - like maybe calamari or even the fake stuff. I am from the east coast and am used to having real lobster throughout. I had to brush my teeth afterwards from the imitation seafood taste. There is a reason they probably spelled the Lobsta with an A at the end on instead of ER because underneath the claw meat there are peices of meat that are perfectly circular, there is not a single part of the lobster that would produce a perfectly circular piece of meat. Now I speak about this because of my close connection to New England especially lobsters. Having been born and raised in Rhode Island and while in culinary school I worked in restaurant in East Greenwich Rhode Island called The Harborside Lobstermania we're on Friday and Saturday nights they had a special of twin boiled broiled or baked lobster is and we would do over 600 lobsters at night. Just had the Indecision sandwich at Clermont First Friday Food Trucks. The blue crab side was delicious, however I was totally disappointed that the lobster side was seasoned, yes I said seasoned, with some kind of spice blend like one would use on chicken or meat. Why have I waited so long to try you, Monsta Lobsta?! Oh MY!!!! I got the 4oz roll and a cup of their Lobster Bisque...both were amazing. ($15 total) Lobster Roll: Buttered and toasted New England split top, packed with chilled lobster salad. 99.8% Lobster meat, hint of lemon, mayo and scallions. I do not like mayo or scallions, so I was very happy that there were only a few scallion slices for me to pick out. Mayo was not discernible in look or taste, so perfect for me. Lobster was moist, sweet and fresh tasting....and there was a TON of it on my "4oz" roll. Better than some of the rolls I've enjoyed on the Cape or NE, for sure. Bisque: Wow. Really very good. Lobstery and heavy on the heavy cream, so ultra rich. The portion size is perfect for the richness of the bisque. Hint of sherry, flecks of lobster meat throughout. My first stop at Tampa's "World Largest Food Truck Rally" (debatable title) was Monsta Lobsta. Last year, my boyfriend had a lobster roll from them, and I really wanted one this year. As luck would have it, it was one of the first food trucks as we entered the event. I was a bit deterred by the long line, but that also meant they must be pretty good. The dude in front of us in line said there was also a truck called Maine Thang, but the line was even longer. Plus, I knew what this food truck was all about. The menu consists of a regular lobster roll, a roll smothered in lobster bisque, regular lobster bisque, crab, a spicy lobster roll, and a roll called "indecision" since it can be hard to choose between lobster and crab. It is a very real problem. Back to the line wait, while waiting in line my boyfriend was able to get us waters, go get a taco, and look around a little bit. After placing my order it did not take long to get my food. I ordered the regular 4 oz. lobster roll, and my boyfriend tried the lobster roll smothered in lobster bisque. I enjoyed the roll, as there was no shortage of succulent lobster. The thing I like about the roll was that it was soft, but also had a slight char on the bottom with a slight taste of butter. Monsta Lobsta, where have you been?! I usually enjoy these babies at Tasty Tuesdays, but I haven't seen them in forever. I will have to seek them out for my next lobster roll craving. I was skeptical at how good lobster as a sandwich could really be, until a few years back when I gave Monsta Lobsta a try. Toasted roll, lobster meat with a little lemon and some mayo, that's all you need. So good! One time they were out of the lobster roll, so I "settled" for a crab roll. You get to the crab part, and there's surprisingly large chunks of crab. However it tasted downright pungent! I'm from North Carolina, I crab all the time, im stupidly into crabs. Our last stop during this week's Tasty Tuesday in the Milk District was Monsta Lobsta for some lobster bisque. As we stood in line to order (we were next!) one of the guys came out and crossed lobster bisque off the menu. We were disappointed but knew we shouldn't have waited so long. The patrons in front of us agreed, we shouldn't have waited and we were really missing out on some awesome bisque. We stood there discussing our disappointment and jumped in the crepe line to finish out our night. Not even 2 minutes later, the Monsta Lobsta guy came back with a bowl of lobster bisque, saying he scraped just enough for one more bowl. Oh and it's on the house!! We could not have been more grateful and excited. Warm, delicious, filled with chunks of lobster: this bisque hit the spot! One word. Amazing. As a Texan growing up in the middle of the state, I never had much of a chance to eat a lot of sea food until I moved to Florida, so I can't compare. But as a food lover in general, this lobster roll was nothing but delicious. I had the lobster roll ($12) and cup of lobster bisque ($5) because I was debating on getting the smothered roll ($15 - lobster roll smothered in bisque). I decided for a few dollars more I might as well get both and add on the bisque as I want it. It was one of the better decisions I've made in my life. Each bite was like heaven in my mouth. The lobster was cold, and on a buttered roll, I thought it would be better as a hot meal. But the warm bisque on the cold lobster complimented it very well and I have no complaints. The bisque was creamy and very rich. I would of preferred a few more chunks of lobster, but with strategic planning and cunning wit, what fell off of my roll landed in the bisque and all was right in the world once more. I was very hesitant to try the lobster roll at first because I absolutely hate mayo. I hate it. But I grew balls of steel and decided to man up and just enjoy the lobster. I will say, IF there was mayo it was non existent and could not be tasted at all. One warning though, I saw this food truck a few months ago, and the lobster roll looked much more creamy, as if there was a ton of mayo in it (naturally I passed on eating there). So they have either changed their recipe, or the amount of mayo they add changes from time to time. I love this place (assuming they go easy on the mayo). Fresh bread, skillfully buttered and toasted, loaded with expertly prepared chunks of fresh lobster meat and finely diced scallions. The epitome of perfection. SAD FACE: The Bisque. At five bucks a pop (on top of being a stingy portion) you'd think The Bisque would be hooked up with a little lobster...but it isn't. I'd give them the benefit of the doubt if they were close to running out, but that's unlikely. I caught them right when they opened (shortly after 5:00 pm) for the Food Truck Bazaar in Fashion Square. The real deal: It's mostly cream, and it's dreadfully bland. I won't order The Bisque again.
