The next week, you swing by again, and once more, a free plum arcs its way towards you. You have a rapport; you have an ally. A tradition. And so it goes for many weeks. Then, one day, a younger version of the old man is at the stand. He's more direct, less chatty, and never curls his lips. He's sterile. And the prices have increased significantly. Who charges $2.50 for an apple? The guy without competition, he says sans emotion. And just like that, you stop eating plums. Price per gallon is anywhere from $0.80-$1.00 higher than surrounding gas stations (add another dime for credit), and everyone pays for air (with a scoff at the thought of any other way). They've pulled the sixth pump, so as not to trap motorists, but a line inevitably forms, because there's no other choice.

Can a company actually get away with this treatment?…read more So last year I moved into my apartment and needed oil, I have never dealt with this oil company in my life. I call, and the guy chews me out about how he does not want to service my apartment, how he has issues with my landlord and had issues with the previous tenant....I am completely thrown off, I thought a business would be PROFESSIONAL....no customer service here. So after explaining to him that I just moved in, he agrees to service the oil tank. Then, around september maybe, I get an agressive letter from B&B about how I have been going behind their back and getting oil elsewhere ( I haven't though?) and that they will never again service my unit. Here's the catch, they are one of the few places that will service Charlestown at all, as I have found out. So I figured I would call, and see what the deal is, why they seem to have this personal vendetta against myself and my landlord. I told the same unprofessional man on the phone my address..and he says... NO, I AM NOT INTERESTED IN SERVICING MYSTIC STREET IN ANY FORM...and HUNG UP. HOW did this individual get a job, let alone one of power to decide these things. If you can find another company, do it. You should not get scolded by an oil company for a problem they have with your Landlord, before you even moved in. I've gotten better treatment at McDonald's...THANKS B&B. I hope recession hits you hard. STEER CLEAR FOLKS!

Side note: took a picture of my license plate and said "you'll see what i'll do with this" I would never go to these very rude and quite honestly, nasty people.

I typically don't write reviews for stuff other than restaurants. When I do, it's either because…read morethe service was absolutely wonderful or absolutely terrible. In this case, it's because it was absolutely terrible. Upon pulling up, the gas station attendant was extremely rude. He also told me to "get out of the way" if I wanted gas. What's worse is that after the fuel pump had automatically shut off, he repeatedly kept forcing more fuel into the tank. He did this several times and only stopped when I forcefully told him "that's enough gas." Continuing to pump gas after the nozzle has disengaged is an extremely bad practice as it can damage the emission control system, which is a very costly repair. It's obvious that the attendant doesn't care about the customer and instead is more concerned about making an extra buck.
