They are scammers. period. They replaced my brake pads and rotors for 250 dollars. I brought my car to another mechanic and I was told that those pads cost 25 bucks max. I verified that price through a website. They charged me $250 for junk pads and rotors. That's not the end of the story. After driving for two months, the junk pads became so hot that my calipers were destroyed. I had to replace the calipers, plus the pads and rotors, for another 800 bucks at a different mechanic. I now kick myself in the head for not checking yelp before I went there. read more

I had my brakes done today , they were squeaking and grinding . I needed new routers, pads and calibers . Elias gave me a fair price and later even charged me $20 less then the quote. He gave me a ride to work and later dropped the finished car off at my job. The mechanic was very pleasent and showed me what was wrong with my brakes. I also had my inspection done, the guy was very professional . There are a few places were you get great old fashion service like this. This place is great, I am a very happy and satisfied customer, I will be back next time my car needs service. I strongly recommend this shop to everybody. read more

I've gone to Broadway Gulf for years for both my inspections and my oil changes, and I've always had good experiences there. It is true that they only accept cash for inspections, but they have an ATM. They've always been polite to me, and have gone out of their way to help me on a number of occasions. One time during an oil change, they found a one inch nail in my tire... they removed the nail and patched the tire, and gave me a great deal on it. The guy at the register is super friendly, and the mechanics are nice once you get to know them a bit. So I'm not sure why they got the other bad reviews - I'd recommend them anytime! read more

Tried fixing my suspension issue for my car, initial estimate was 1800$ but ended up paying around 2800$. What I didn't like is the power steering rack installed was leaking right after installation and couldn't get it replaced. For the record I only gave these bozos one star because it won't let you go any lower.. I had my alternator replaced with a rebuilt alternator. About two months later the alternator that they put in also died.. I had my vehicle towed back to them this should have been a clear-cut warranty replacement.. instead they convinced me that it was my starter I tried to tell them it was the same symptoms as last time so it couldn't be the starter... anyway they charge me $250 to replace a starter that I furnished.. they gave me the starter back so I could get my deposit back.. while I was at the electrical shop I had the technician run a bench test and another test that the name slips my mind it showed that the starter was in perfect working order.. so right then and there the red flags went up in my mind I took a look at my alternator and lI noticed it was an old beat-up junk yard alternator.. so in a nutshell they knew they weren't going to make any money off me with a warranty job alternator so they convinced me that the starter is what cause the car to stop. that way they could make their money and then slide a junkyard alternator in without me even knowing any work was being done on the alternator at all.. don't forget I was in there for the starter which they vehemently insisted was the problem..the funny part of this whole thing is when I went back and confronted him and told them what i caught them doing.elias said don't worry we will get to the bottom of it and replace the junkyard alternator with a rebuilt one that you paid for and then asked me for $40 for battery connectors they put on when they couldn't figure out originally what the problem was during their process of elimination at my expense.. another thing I did not need.. for weeks I went back for them to resolve the problem of replacing my junkyard alternator with a new one that I paid for.. to no avail so now I am filing in small claims court oct 6 2016.. I had other things done and I'm too squeamish to think what else they've done to me every time my car went in there their first statement always started with ohhh this looks very bad quote unquote.. while this was all going on I was taking care of them with lunch from the pizza shop that I was working at..The one thing they're really good at is making you feel like they're giving you a break .. what a fool I was a few months after writing this the filthy junkyard alternator that they knowingly put in place of the new rebuilt one that was defective but still under warranty (i can't believe they didn't think I'd notice) died and I had to go out and spend another $300 to put in so basically I paid twice for the same alternator why it was $50 more that's a whole other story..XXXXXXX LATEST Encounter March 06, 2018 I was contacted by owner of the service station about making this right, Compensating me for The shady business practice of cheating me out of an alternator that was under warranty and making me buy a starter that I didn't need.. Even before these geniuses Figured out that it was the alternator (Like I told them cuz it was Same symptoms as 1st alternator going bad) And then Figured how they were going to make money on this warranty job they did what we call a process of elimination Looking for the problem by replacing things that they THOUGHT might be the problem instead of running a diagnostic check.. They replaced the battery terminals as I stated earlier in this original review.. After they figured that the terminals were not the problem and the starter wasn't the problem they came to the conclusion it was the8 alternator...AGAIN ..HUMMMMM How do we make money on a warranty job I know tell him it's something else and that's exactly what they did.... Anyway the 1st thing this guy tells me After coming by my work to tell me he wants to make this situation right is I owe him $40 for replacing the terminals the terminals that I did not need.. I knew at that point this guy just wants me to erase this review and nothing more He had no plans to Pay me back for the starter I did not need Are reimburse me for the alternator he stole And probably used in somebody else's vehicle after he replaced it at the parts store....So im looking at between these two parts 550 Not to mention all the other stuff I was probably screwed out of lol .....The more I think about it I don't think I would take any money at this point if me losing $1110.00 can help somebody else from being swindled by these crooks Then it's worth every penny... I needed my wheel-mounted snow tires put on my car in a hurry in a freezing rainstorm, so instead of changing them myself jacking each wheel up one at a time outside, for the first time I took my car in to Broadway Gulf. They charged me $40, which seemed reasonable given urgency. HOWEVER, they must have used a pneumatic wrench to torque lugnuts back on, including three wheel locking lug nuts, so tight that the Goodyear Service Center by Union Square was unable to remove any of the three (with pneumatic wrench, proper key, etc.). Now I need to take my car to the dealership so they can drill out the locking lugnuts, which I'm sure will be a costly day. I do not recommend going to Broadway Gulf for service of any kind after this experience. They were not upfront about their lack of knowledge in this area. I wouldn't even get gas here--it's so much cheaper a block away at the Speedway station. Consider yourself warned. read more

DO NOT get your inspection done here. As stated in the other review, they are the least friendly people I have ever seen and they do not accept debit cards. My first trip I was failed because my bumper had a crack in it, second trip the guy would not pass me because one of my rear window brake lights was out and he literally yelled at me telling me I should not have brought my car to Maaco for the body work because "they are not smart, all of them put together would be half a moron". Not sure what they had to do with my brake light being out. I am paying the 29 dollars to get the inspection done elsewhere...you have been warned, save your time and frustration, if I could give negative stars, I would. read more

Pretty sure I just paid to be insulted and laughed at. Tried to get my inspection done and the guy laughingly told me that he "dinged me for the crack in my side mirror." When I politely asked how a hairline crack that doesn't affect visability could result in a rejection, he laughed again and told me "don't worry pal, we got a complaint line for that. - its called the RMV" and walked away. I asked a simple yes or no question regarding my registration, and the guy flipped out. Instead of responding with a Yes or a No, he proceeded to yell at me the history of his answer. Repeatedly. It's funny reading all the one star reviews. I agree with them. This place is fine if you only pull up, get gas and leave. Just don't interact with anyone there, and don't get your car inspected there. The guy who does them is a little off, and not in a quirky fun way. But a Lurch from Adams family way. These guys saved me a lot! Just new in town, I had gone to another garage and was told I had a radiator leak and needed to replace the whole thing immediately. It seemed fishy so I decided to try the Gulf garage at Broadway and McGrath for a second opinion. They were all about business and doing the work which works for me. Elias checked my car and told me there was no need to replace it and I drove my car for three more years without a radiator problem. I have always taken my car to these guys because they were honest and have developed a great relationship. I always fix my car here and they are realy helpfull, i changed the rear axel 2 minths ago and i have a little a little problem again and they fix it for free, thats what i call costumer service. And also if you have a pb in the road and you tow your car you can bring it to there lot even if they closed you leave them a note and they will call you the first thing in the morning and start working in the car right away. read more

Went there because I had a nail in my tire and needed a patch. The guy working tried telling me I had special tires because it was hard for him to push the rubber in? I don't know. I don't have special tires and he made it seem like it was really hard to do. It was a patch, I didn't ask him to rebuild my carburetor. Anyways I asked a guy who specializes in tires if the guy made sense. Not only did he not make sense but apparently he put the patch in wrong. I have two kids that ride in my car on a daily basis and it blows my mind how this guy can get away with endangering people. On top of that he overcharged me because of my "specialized" tires. read more

Stay far away from this place. Bad bad attitudes and they will rip you off. They will fail your car and try to sell you stuff that doesn't need to be replaced. They told me I need struts and took it to Monro in Medford (see my great review of them) and come to find out I didn't need struts after all, there was nothing wrong with my car. read more

I have been a customer of Broadway Gulf for many years. They are always willing to lend a hand if you need help pumping gas, filling a tire or need your car fixed fast. I have had my car inspected here for years and yes you need to pay cash for your inspection, but you will always save money on gas since they are usually the cheapest in the area. It is convenient, clean and the guys there are more than just capable. This is a service oriented station in a self serve environment. read more

Have gone here 3 years in a row for inspection - Elias and his team have gone above and beyond to help out a '92 stay on the road with little things like a bulb or pinched wire fix. This last year was a brake job in all 4 corners plus 2 busted calipers. The job was completed quickly and for an as quoted, fair price with great communication all along the way. Did my inspection here. It was quick and pain free. They only accept cash, but have an ATM in the shop. The inspection was performed quickly, and I had 2 things that needed correction. My headlights were foggy, and the guy told me that I could get get a plastic repair and polishing kit from Autozone to fix it instead of buying new. Saved me $100. That's good service. read more

I went here for MA State inspection. First, the guy was super rude. Second, he pointed out multiple faults in the tires and lights which did not exist. Normally the mechanics point these defects up front and don't charge but not here. I challenged his inspection in MA and won successfully. Please be careful when you go to this station. read more

As a follow up to previous reviewers, do NOT head here for an inspection. I made the mistake of doing so earlier today and my car (which is in perfect working condition) failed because the incredibly rude mechanic felt that my wiper blades were not adequate. After requesting that he demonstrate the problem he, again very rudely, ran the blades and told me that they did not clean the windshield enough. (Crap.) He then told me he would replace the blades for $30. Considering there was no way I was going to give these guys another $30, or pay an exorbitant cost of $30 for $7 wiper blades, I headed down the street to Advance Auto Parts - bought a great new pair of blades, and was very kindly shown how to replace them myself - and did. I immediately returned to get my sticker and without speaking a word to me (clearly upset I did not fall into their scam) Gulf gave me a passing inspection. I would highly suggest going elsewhere for any service - these guys are not worth it. read more
