Stopped in around lunch time to grab a quick snack and found this little spot. We walked in to a great ambiance, complete with a fireplace burning bright. Thankfully it was perfect timing because the place wasn't too packed, found a clean spot and sat. Quickly greeted with menus and requests for a beverage. While on vacation we had two Aperol Spritz's and water. Great food options including a break down for those of us with dietary issues/restrictions. I had the Soup of the Day - vegan Mushroom and parsley soup, while my travel mate had the Bacon & Cabbage with creamy parsley sauce Plate. Pretty good stuff. Also has a small stage area which looks perfect for live music!

Stopped into Monroe's for drinks and loved the atmosphere. My boyfriend ordered a Tully & ginger and I had an espresso martini--both were great. Super relaxed vibe, friendly service, and a perfect spot to unwind in Galway. Would definitely go back.

Had the best time at Monroe's !!!

This place rocks!!!!!!! Best bar in Galway. The service was great and the food was delicious

Salmon on risotto

Came in on the recommendation of a local bartender. I didn't have a reservation, but no problem! The mussels were amazing. I was shocked at the portion. So good. The salmon was cooked perfectly, but the risotto underneath stole the show. It was incredible! The waitstaff was friendly, lknowledgeable. At the recommendation of a waiter, I finished with the cheesecake. It was light, just a little sweet and a perfect finish to the meal!

three drinks and an empty dessert place LOL

Lots of room to sit, great drinks, excellent service. Incredibly kind back bar staff. Great dessert. Good playlist. Good ambience. Thanks for a great time!

Wonderful little spot in the West End of Galway. We stumbled upon it after finding some other spots too busy. This joint was lively yet not overwhelming or overbearing. The servers were very helpful. The food was also a welcome and pleasant surprise, we were expecting average food but there was definitely some soul to it which surprised us!

Good pizza. Good vibe. Not really much else that you could ask for from a local pub.

Reasonably priced, friendly staff, yummy snacks, and live music. This place is touristy but I've met a lot of Galway locals who come for the drinks and the good-nature of the patrons. I loved the staff, especially Stephen!! I used to go here almost every night of the week... the music got a bit repetitive with one guy playing the same songs every night. They need to spice things up a bit and get some original music in there! That damn song Galway Girl makes all the girls giddy... and then the boys get giddy with Santeria. I probably heard those two songs 180 times at this place... but for some reason it didn't matter. It was almost a joke and the staff knew it and the regulars knew it and it was alllll good. Oh and you'll probably figure this out but you can order pizza from the place next door and they will bring it into the pub for you!

Fish of the day! Delicious and super healthy.

We're just about there when the manager comes up behind us and said he found a table. Pretty impressive service. The table was in a medium sized room away from the music which was great as you could hold a conversation. Our server came over quickly to take our drink orders and once we had the drinks be places our order, cottage pie and fish and chips. The cottage pie was served in a small, but not too small oval baking dish with a nicely browned top on the potatoes. It also came with a side of gravy which was a nice touch. Digging in there was a good amount of pulled well seasoned brisket with carrots mixed. Very tasty dish. The fish and chips arrived with a good portion chips and a moderately sized piece of well fried fish. The fish was very fresh and flaky and the breading was very light so it didn't over power the fish. We had a pleasant meal with two great servers, a manager that wouldn't give up on finding us a table and great music (acoustic guitar) to keep us enter. Definitely a great place for drinks and a good meal and one that we will gone back to.

O'Connell's Bar, which has been famous for years in its own right, rose to international prominence thanks to ole Ed Sheeran's "Galway Girl". It was pretty cool to see the spot where the video was filmed and it only added to the allure and story of the place! When you walk in off the street, you may just think it is a small cozy Irish pub and for the most part, you would be correct. However, go through the doors in the back and you are transported to a large, open-air beer garden featuring store fronts, stages, booths, heaters and more! While the inside is classic and uniquely Irish, the outdoor space is its own vibe! It honestly feels like two different spaces, but they also feel connected. All in all, easily the best beer garden in Galway! We grabbed a few pints at the inside bar and spent most of our time outside. It was a tad chilly, but they have self-controlled and regulated heaters over several of the seating alcoves, so we were comfortable an ended up hanging around for a few pints. Location is stellar, directly on Eyre Square, which is a main hub for Galway. Easy to wander in while walking around or popping off a bus, as the main bus stop of the area is directly across the street. Overall, we absolutely loved our time at O'Connell's Bar!
