Their designs are exactly what you see online or in pictures. The designers are meticulous to meet whatever idea you have in your head. I have used Monroe Florist for birthdays, funerals, my own wedding (in which I carried specialty flowers), Easter and prom corsages, Christmas centerpieces and; most importantly, sending my mother her favorite single flower-the gardenia. Gardenias are difficult to find year round and need to be shipped in--Eva always finds the perfect blooms. Monroe Florist is *MY* florist and I don't even live in Michigan!! I reside in Southern California and still have my floral needs taken care of by Eva and her designers. I went into this florist like I do every year to send my daughter flowers for Mother's Day. I asked them if they could add a Calla lily or two because that is her favorite. The woman I spoke with was absolutely rude and unhelpful! She basically said they would have to use an outsource florist in Detroit And I told them I understand that and I'm fine with it that's what you guys do every year. She also said I could drive up there and order directly from the florist which I did not want to do. That's why I walked into their shop so I didn't have to make the hour drive up. She said well I don't know if they are going to make what you want and she was very rude about it and acted like I was a bother. This florist shop did an unusually great job. They ordered particular, special flowers on request, and their arrangement was especially artful and really beautiful. Their designer was quite talented, and I was on a mid-priced budget. Unlike some other florists I have dealt with over time, they actually listened to me and did what I asked. Having ordered flowers remotely from various shops around the U.S., this was one of the nicest-looking bouquets I have ever seen. Also, service was especially good. Ok, so this is the second time I've been here in need of flowers for special occasions and have been disappointed and felt ripped off. I live an hour away, but have family in Monroe so I am there for holidays, birthdays, etc. I was there last Saturday 1/7/16, and wanted a bouquet of flowers for my grandma's birthday so I decided to go here instead of Kroger or whatever other corporate places to make my purchase to support local business....and I got screwed here worse for DOUBLE the price. I walk in and tell the not so friendly blonde woman that I needed a bouquet, something simple. She asked me my price and I said, no more than $20 because my grandma doesn't need some crazy arrangement, and to be honest, she probably won't even remember getting these flowers in a few days anyway. So the woman proceeds to make a bouquet and takes forever....geese I could've done it faster, also she just did her own thing and did not ask my opinion. Then, she yells "ok!" as if she was annoyed, terrible attitude. So I go up to the counter after looking at all of the crap they have for sale in there, which looks like a crafty hoarders wet dream, and she angrily says, "That'll be $25." While handing me a giant, tacky & ugly bouquet that was not the "something cute and simple" that I asked for. Ok, did you not hear me when I said no more than $20? Then she added tax and was a total, well you know... So lesson learned, go across the street to Kroger and get a classier and cheaper handful of flowers without the attitude and gauging price. And seriously, do not get your wedding or funeral arrangements there, you'd be better off ordering them from amazon. And be sure not to trip over all of the cheesy bird baths, gross cookie pizzas and stuffed animals while you are waiting in this place, yuck. read more
