These are not honest guys. This is not an honest company. Do not take your car there if you are expecting honest service. I took my car to Monro in Wayne for an annual PA Safety Inspection. While my car was there, the staff suggested I proceed with a tuneup since my car had recently hit 100,000 miles. I agreed to the tuneup, and the day I was supposed to pick up my car, it was radio silence from the staff. I called around 4pm verifying I would be picking up my car prior to close at 7, and they confirmed. 6:45, and I hear nothing. I show up to the shop at 6:55 and am told that during the tune up, a spark plug broke off and porcelain fell into a cylinder in my engine. They said they did not know how long it would take to resolve the issue because they wanted to find a solution that "didn't cost the shop a lot of money." The standard practice for removing porcelain from a cylinder is to pull the head of the engine and clean out the cylinder. This requires 17 hours of labor. Monro did not follow standard practice. Over twelve weeks, they tried a variety of different methods. Twelve weeks later, they tell me my car is ready to be picked up. I informed them I would not be comfortable picking up my car until they shared what other methods they tried since they refused to follow standard procedure. After this request was made on Sept. 18, I didn't hear anything from the staff again until Oct. 16. On Oct. 16, I woke up to a charge from the Enterprise where Monro had told me they would be providing me with a rental. Enterprise shared that Monro told them they stopped paying for the car on Sept. 26, but nobody informed me. Store employee Josh was incredibly rude, hung up on me when I stated his district managed had ignored a letter from my lawyer (Josh said, "You have a lawyer? I can't speak to you" and hung up. That is not how things work, but he was ill-informed). Josh threatened to call the police on me when I went to pick up my car and requested that the work that had been done on my car be added to the invoice. While I didn't like any of my experiences with any staff during this process, Josh was possibly the most unpleasant and most unprofessional. District Manager Chris Gross was a horrible communicator, ignored emails from me, ignored a letter sent by lawyer requesting details about the car, and refused to provide me with the information explaining what work had been done on my car. Regional Vice President Damian Stebbins was smug, spoke to me in a manner that demonstrated he found this issue a waste of his time, and, yet again, refused to provide any information regarding the work on the car. He kept referring me to Monro's insurance company to receive that information, but their insurance company told me that I would need to receive the information from Monro themselves. As we can see, Monro at every level refused to put on the invoice the work that was done on my car - a very standard practice. This signals to me that they damaged my car elsewhere when working on it and they do not want to share or document the additional damage because they do not want to be held liabale. read more

Please don't come here if you care about your car and don't want to get overcharged. I came here to get a new muffler put on my car. I bought the muffler myself and had they put it on my car and they welded it on wrong so the exhaust system saws into my brake lines and burns through them. They did not address this issue and just welded the muffler hangers in a closed loop shape so I can't even replace the dampeners to raise the system higher read more

This is the second time I bring a car here, the first time it was for my son's car , excellent service, done in a timely manner. So when it came time for my car to need to be inspected we of course brought it here, the shop was very busy, he gave us an appointment for a few days later, because he had been working by himself. We brought it in the morning and he had the car ready by the end of the day, as offered. At first I thought all was well. I got my car inspected and and oil changed quickly on a Saturday. In addition to reasonable charges for the inspection and oil, my bill had a $15.75 charge for "shop supplies." The description included profit for the shop. That's ridiculous after charging $11 per quart of oil. When I asked the manager to remove this charge, he rudely refused and said if he did , he would a remove coupons ( which were not used) to make my bill higher. I was in town on business and my rental car had a leak in one of the tires. After a horrible experience with Hertz roadside assistance, I called Monro and Mike told me to come on in so they could take a look. My tire had a nail in it which they couldn't fix because it was too close to the wheel shaft. They filled my tire and then put a flat tire repair foam in the tire which I bought at the auto supply down the street. They did all this for me immediately at no charge. If I lived closer, I would totally use them. Since I don't, I would encourage every local to support them if you can. Just a nice bunch of guys. God bless! read more

I have a personal training studio right around the corner. As I left the studio to go drive to our Bala-Cynwyd studio my tire was completely flat. AAA got me from one gas station that didn't fix tires in the area but was nice enough to tell me About Munro. The manager in the Allentown store on Broadway (#159) should be fired, imo. He has an attitude and a chip on his shoulder and should not be dealing with the public. After an oil change I was told that I should replace the air filter and the power steering fluid. They said I'd be out quickly and I said ok. They didn't tell me they had to order the filter. After 20 minutes, no filter was delivered. They told me 10 minutes and then they upped it to 20 minutes. After over 40 minutes it still hadn't arrived and I said to the manager, let me just pay for what you did so far and I'll come back later for the air filter. The manager said "we ordered it so you have to pay for it" in a nasty tone. I had already been there for an hour and a half and told him that I had to get to work and if someone had told me I would have to wait this long because they didn't have it in stock, I wouldn't have agreed to to have the filter replaced at that time. He said..."did you ask?' Meaning, I should have asked them if they had it in stock. From there his attitude worsened and he threatened to kick me out of the store. Seriously. I've been a long time customer of Monro, and the old manager who retired was a gem. This guy is awful and I won't be going back. read more

I have been going to Monroe in Wayne with various cars for many years. Most recently, I have been bringing in a NIssan Exterra. I have found Anthony, the service manager and Chris, to be a pleasure to work with. I am not a mechanic and there are times that someone could tell me something about my car, or any car, and it is based on integrity of the service organization. Anthony has proven over and over again that service at their Monroe location is backed by honesty and integrity. I would highly recommend anyone who has car repairs to go there. I work less than a mile away and stopped in for an oil change at 8:30 am. Asked if they do "while you wait" oil changes. Desk clerk said "we do but not now, we're jammed up. And we don't like to do while you wait oil changes because it jams up our entire day". I asked if I could come back and desk clerk said they could do it at 11, 12, or 1. So I asked if I could wait for it or would I need to drop off. desk clerk said "you can wait for it but you will have to be here at the exact time or else you will jam us up". I said never mind and left. Desk clerk was perfectly fine with that. Sounds like they have a lot of jam up issues and could use some scheduling help. Be careful when going here. Service is good but can be VERY costly. Went in the get brakes done and they quoted me over $800. Called a dealership and they quoted me $250 and I ended up paying $270. Munro told me I needed new rotors because they were unable to resurface them-this was not the case. Honda resurfaced the rotors and replaced the pads for $615 less than Munro. Made an appt here bc I was sent a coupon for $9.99 and have received before for another location before it closed. The oil change took almost 2hours which I wasn't told that they were behind. Also, I was never told that the coupon was only taking off $9.99 at the end. My tire press's was on and never put air in but "did" courtesy inspection only was worried about selling me wiper blades. I informed corporate and they only wanted to send me coupons. Why would I want to go back after I was ripped off. No customer service! Will not go back and will tell others not to go to any Munro again. How do you go from $9.99 + $16.99 to $47.76. I rarely write a bad review however I'm writing this review as a warning to others. Last week a family member brought his car in to have his tires changed and when he left his windshield was cracked. The mechanic admitted at the time there wasn't a crack before the car was raised and advised him to contact the manager. The manager asked him to bring his car in the following weekend only to tell him they would not take responsibility for the damage. I know they offer a 'great' price however it is at a cost and may wind up costing you more if they cause damage and do not take responsibility for their negligence. read more

I'm writing this review because Arnie, the manager was just the most kind hearted accommodating professional I've had the pleasure of meeting. As most may know, Wayne is a pretty pricey area to live, and having work done on your car here is no exception when it comes to pricing. I needed an inspection and an oil change, and I was being quoted by various shops around the area $160-$180. What!?! Finally, when I called Arnie there was a light at the end of the tunnel, first and foremost having ANYTHING done to your car is very stressful and nerve wrecking, but when I called I could just hear his smile over the phone which in return made me smile. Even though it was such short notice, he managed to fit me in. He is a consummate professional who knows how to just make each situation better, even if it means he would have to stay late to get it done. When I came in to drop my car off, 10am I got to meet the man himself, he was warm kind, and his staff was so friendly as well. A very family oriented atmosphere from an outsider's point of view. I dropped the keys off while my sister and I ran a couple errands, got back at 11:45 to pick something up out to my car and was told it was already finished!!! My mind was blown. The pricing was very fair, and the service was outstanding (I almost feel as if I should have paid them more for the quick superb job they did) They definitely have a repeat customer in me. Great customer service! They were so helpful and kind! Greeted us with a smile and were very helpful with our flat tire and oil change! They were able to service my car in a very timely manner with a great attitude! The service work was done without adding any extra expenses or inflation of cost. They even gave me a discounted rate better than the coupon I was using. The only issue I found was finding the location with my gps. they either lost or stole a part from my car, they had told me something needed to be replaced and started to do the job and then realized i needed an engine. I went to sell the car and the part they took off to replace the part they were wrong about my car not needing was missing and the buyer mentioned it. I called and asked and the manager Arnie got very defensive. He said he would "look for it" and he never contacted me back. He also charged me to tell me wrong information about my car. In the past they charged me 60.00 to replace a bulb I didn't know was out. Oh, and when I sold the car, the purchaser told me the engine was actually fine, my timing belt went and he said this could damage the engine but it did not. read more

When i initially brought my car here, I explained the problems I was having, which was trouble starting the car and maintaining the correct RPM when initially turned on. After the car was looked at, they told me that it was not an engine issue, but a transmission issue. They referred me to a TERRIBLE transmission shop, (don't go to MAIN LINE TRANSMISSION) because they took $3,000 from me and did NOT fix my car. Turns out, I took it to another mechanic and they told me it was a faulty spark plug. AKA $30 fix that could have been caught by Monro if they had done a thorough inspection. Instead, they quickly ran diagnostics and referred me out the door. read more

While my negative experience with Monro Muffler and Brake started at their Downingtown PA location, I am adding my review to the Wayne, PA location as the Downingtown location is no longer opened. Furthermore, after speaking with Monro customer service and a District Manager the Wayne, PA or Phoenixville location were recommended to have my vehicle services. I attempted to schedule my repair at the Wayne location but as told below was unsuccessful in doing so. Would definitely recommend steering clear of Monro for any brake work. My vehicle was making a groaning sound when braking with some shudder as well. As I had brake pads previously installed at a Cincinnati location, and had the lifetime warranty on said brake pads, I decided to take my vehicle to the location that was previously open in Downingtown. They inspected my brakes and informed me that everything was good except the rotors being warped. The informed me that there was plenty left on them to turn them and that would take care of my issue. They proceeded to turn my rotors. I then drove my vehicle home only to hear the same groaning when I braked. I called Monro and was advised to continue driving the vehicle and bring it back in after a couple of weeks if i was still having issues, as the brakes may just have needed to bed-in. Fast forward a couple weeks and the problem remained. I took my vehicle back to Monro where they performed a brake inspection. They advised me that there wasn't anything wrong with the brakes. Based on this inspection I proceeded to drive my vehicle for the next couple of months at which point I was in need of an oil change. At this point I went to Tires Plus for my oil change and mentioned the issue I was having with my brakes and asked if they could take a look. It didn't take them long to diagnose the problem. I had a seized caliper on my front passenger side brake. I informed Tires Plus that I would give Monro an opportunity to make right and take care of the repair. Tires Plus told me they would check on the availability of the caliper and make sure they could do the repair if needed. My first efforts at contacting Monro were too fruitful. The customer service rep was less than helpful, until I informed her that I would have to send a complaint to the Better Business Bureau and draft a negative review. At that point she informed me that a District Manager would contact me. I was contacted later that day by a District Manager who informed me that they would be happy to make the repair and that he would track down a caliper and stay in touch with me. On three separate occassions he left messages or informed me that he would call me at a certain day and time with an update, only to not call with said update until I attempted to track him down. Each time I kept getting told about the difficulty they were having tracking down the part. AFter the third missed phone call I contacted Tires Plus. They were able to get my vehicle repaired that day. This was a relief as I tend to make an effort to avoid driving my two year old son or pregnant wife in a vehicle with malfunctioning brakes. I then proceeded to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau for Monro's failure to diagnose the seized caliper which led to further damage to my brakes and a more costly repair. I seeked reimbursement for the resultant damage to my rotors and brake pads that would have been prevented had they properly diagnosed the problem in the first place. This resulted in a couple exchanges during which Monro fabricated events and tried to dispute that I mentioned any issue with the brakes previously. My receipt/invoice for a brake inspection two weeks after they turned the rotors would seem to tell a different story. Avoid Monro. Take your vehicle to a repair shop with better accountability and expertise. read more
