When we bought our house, the garage came with old, dilapidated cabinets. When I started putting things in and the bottom of the cabinet collapsed, I knew it was time for a replacement. I got two quotes: first from an independent contractor and then from Monkey Bars. Monkey Bars' quote was far more competitive, though I'm not sure if this was partly because I let them know that I had another bid. The reasonable pricing could also be because they don't accept credit cards for payment. Ryan, the owner, was my contact. He was punctual and professional throughout. Two weeks after I paid the deposit, the cabinets arrived. Ryan and his assistant did a good job with the demolition and installation and cleaned up reasonably well afterwards. I'm glad that I opted for the slightly pricier Signature series cabinets, which allowed for greater customization of dimensions and had features like thicker shelves, an enclosed backing and quiet-close hinges. After the installation, I noticed that one of the cabinets was slightly unlevel and the doors didn't line up perfectly. It wasn't too noticeable, but it did bug me. I let Ryan know and he found time to come over the next day to make everything straight. What service! So the next time my house runs out of storage space, you know who I'll be calling. read more

Ryan helped us to redo our garage a couple months ago and we are so very happy with the outcome. We had moved into our new home and the floors were dirty (stains & oil spots) and even though there was wall-to-wall cabinet storage, it didn't work well as we had some larger items like bikes, a lawn mower, folding table and other items. Things were all over the floor and not organized. Ryan came to demo previous cabinets, epoxy the floor and install new shelving. We now have clean floors, an optimized space and walls to hang or put larger items against. Ryan first contacted me after my initial online inquiry, and we scheduled a size evaluation that very weekend. He helped me figure out how to layout the garage that best utilizes the overhead area without compacting the horizontal space. It took about an hour to figure out the details. I actually had him stop a second time a week later to to verify the plan, and he was nice enough to drive an hour to get here to help out. He stopped by the following weekend in the morning with his help to setup the whole garage. It took approximately 5 hours from start to finish, including cleanup, and that was it. At this point I've had the monkey bars system installed for half a year with no problem. All my bins are stored neatly above head, bikes hung on the walls, and tools organized around the work desk. Ryan was a pleasure to work with on my project. He came in and saved the day on a botched garage floor epoxy job I had done by a contractor. He fixed it beautifully and my floors are gleaming. I also had him install a row of cabinets along one side of the garage. They are gorgeous and provide so much storage space (and can hold a lot of weight). When providing a quote for different options of storage and configuration, I was impressed with the digital mock-up submitted. Really helps to visualize different products and how to determine spacing. The whole project only took 2 days to complete. 1 day for the floors and 1 day for the cabinets. More than expected thanks to Ryan! I just had a new garage built for my home and wanted to complete the project with a first rate storage system. I could have attempted to do this myself, but why not hire someone who specializes in garage storage instead? I asked three different companies to come in and give me a bid for putting in cabinets and shelving. I knew from my first meeting that Ryan was the person I wanted to go with. We purchased a new home recently in Santa Cruz County. As a senior, I wasn't looking forward to all that's required to make a garage really workable for cars, wheelbarrows, bikes, and paddleboards. You start to think it can't be done. Monkey Bars Garage Storage Systems came highly recommended. I called and asked for a consultation. Ryan came out to our place and listened to what my wife and I were asking for. He took his time, a lot of measurements, and then composed some drawings. He gave us an estimate which included describing the different shelving and hanging systems he would be installing. Our take was that this was a competent professional and we decided to go with him. Ryan and his colleague Paul showed up with their impressive portable shop. He went over what we were going to do and then he and Paul went to work. I was very impressed with the care they took, their use of some high tech tools, and their overall competence. As they worked, Ryan and Paul fielded questions and worked flawlessly. In a matter of a few hours, I had a well organized garage with paddleboards on racks--and out of the way, bikes hanging in locking racks, and all of our miscellaneous "stuff" neatly shelved or hanging. So I tried to contact this company a few times through 1) their website, 2) via Yelp, and 3) via phone call. For the couple of tries through their website, I did not even get a response. For the contact via Yelp I got an initial response, but when I followed up by email there was silence again. Then the last try via phone I friendly assistant took my contact data and request, and suggested that the local agant would follow up. This was ~1-2 weeks ago... Nothing since. Monkey Bars looks like a great garage storage system that requires that you work with your exclusive local dealer if you want shelves and other specialty storage items. Ryan Burgess and Paul have the dealer contract for the Bay Area and Central Coast. While Yelp reviews indicate that they can do a great job, these are 2 guys with no office, office manager, receptionist (does use an answering service), or crews to do jobs. That is why when I contacted Ryan, he emailed me asking for my availability (which I provided), but he didn't reply until I emailed again (and he still didn't set up a time--he just asked for my availability), and then I called and the answering service passed my message to Ryan, who then apologized and asked for my availability again. I called Monkey Bars & they admitted that they usually contract with larger businesses, but in this case decided that 2 guys could handle the Bay Area & Central Coast. Bottom line is terrible customer service at the dealer and corporate level so I will not be using Monkey Bars in my garage. read more

Looked into several options and contractors to fix garage floor and new cabinets. Especially garage floor is damaged pretty bad with deep cracks, so needed someone with experience to work on it. Called Monkey bars. Ryan came by to see the place and to give an estimate. He listened to all my concerns and answered my questions very patiently, gave me few options on cabinets layout, set flooring expectations. He gave the price quote right away for the floor which matched previous estimates I got. Very promptly sent estimates for cabinets for couple of layouts, though I told him ahead that I will choose the simpler option. I had some leftover handles from my kitchen cabinets, he checked and said will work, saving some money on cabinet handles. They filled flooring cracks pretty good. The flooring came out better than what I had expected, my neighbors were awed too and cabinets looked awesome and flawless. they are honest, friendly and completed the work on time, and I am happy, they turned out great and no surprises. Plan to call them again for future projects. read more
