This is a delightful family owned business. It has seating for about 28 people total. We arrived at about 430 pm on a Sunday, so between the lunch and supper rush. There was one waiter and I believe one cook in the back for this time of day. This is not meant to be a fast food restaurant, instead, it is a place to relax, unwind and enjoy time between courses. The food was delicious! It is about an hour from our home, but only about 20 minutes from either Ruth Eckerd Hall or the Mahaffey and close to US 19 in Largo, so I am sure we will return when we are in the area; it is worth the drive.

    Strawberry soda

The strawberry soda was amazing!! The schnitzel was very good and so was the spatzel. I don't like mushrooms so I made the mistake of ordering the brown gravy which didn't go well with the chicken schnitzel but I ended up eating it plain because it was so good it didn't even need gravy. Finally, the apple strudel was so light and fluffy and the service was great! We can't wait to go back!! Oh and my husband's Hungarian stew and potatoes were divine.

Cozy atmosphere with amazing food. Great beer & wine selection. The service was fantastic as well.

Excellent Goulash and Stuffed Cabbage rolls. Very authentic Hungarian cuisine. Service was courteous and informative.

Monika is a cozy restaurant tucked away in Largo. The interior walls are wooden, and it makes you feel like you're in a cabin! We were a group of 9 who made a reservation ahead of time. They combined some tables to accommodate us. Two friends are vegan and the chef was kind enough to create a butternut squash dish for them to enjoy! I had a warm goulash on a cold Florida winter day. It was very hearty and filling. I also had some of my fiancé's schnitzel with gravy. The gravy was delicious and complemented the dish well. I also dipped French fries in it. So delicious! My friends and I enjoyed gathering at Monika's European Kitchen.

Soup in kettle over fire with all the fixings yes please!!ate half of the sausage and pretzel app too fast sorry

Amazing! European, cozy atmosphere specializing in German and Hungarian cuisine. The service and attention to detail (white tablecloth) as well as the food blew us away. We've all been waiting for a place like this since the German Bistro closed. The soups are like nothing you have ever experienced and the schnitzels are as good at it gets any where even in Germany and Austria! (Been to both multiple times) Fairy limited menu that's entitled "opening menu" so hoping they expand in the future! Hoping they offer potato pancakes and open for lunch in the future!!

    Latte!

Such a delightful experience! We tried a little bit of everything on this unique menu. Pretzel, flight, schnitzel and dessert with a latte! Service by Rolland was fast and friendly! Food as delicious! Nice quiet atmosphere.

The veal was incredibly tender, and the gravy was packed with flavor. It was a satisfying entrée that came with two sides. For my sides, I chose the pierogies and spätzle. The pierogies were honestly my favorite part of the meal. They were fluffy, cheesy, and generously filled. So delicious. I could have eaten a whole plate of just those. The spätzle was soft and well prepared, but compared to everything else, I found it a little boring. The restaurant itself is very cute and has a lot of character. I loved browsing the selection of German snacks, candy, and other imported items available for purchase. It added to the overall experience and made the place feel unique. While I'm not that familiar with German food, I thought this was a pretty good restaurant. Overall, I found German cuisine a little more muted than what I'm personally used to, but I still really enjoyed the meal and the experience. I'd be interested in trying more of the menu.

I had such high hopes for this place. :( The selection is very limited and perhaps I missed something (entirely possible), but I did not see a price list for the deli case. We did find a unique assortment of other German products- some we haven't seen in many years. The restaurant portion was quite busy and the customers looked happy. We were flooded with nostalgia and left in hopes of dining in on a less-busy day. I ordered two meats, including the German bologna. During the drive home, my family and I noticed a terrible odor-- the kind where we started pointing fingers at one another. We never suspected that the package from the deli was the source. When we opened it at home, a nauseatingly funky, ammonia-type smell came from the German bologna. While the liverwurst smelled okay, I could not trust it after the bologna and decided against keeping it. Wasted time and money. Dang! The staff is super nice and that was truly a plus. However, I doubt we will be back. My family is very bummed over this.

Upon walking in, the impression is very authentic German. We were seated promptly although waitress thought we were with a party of 6 and it was just my husband & I. Seated us and we ordered drinks and shortly thereafter we ordered the food. It arrived quickly, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, the overall dining experience did not meet our expectations. The potato pancakes lacked flavor and were quite bland. The Wiener schnitzel was especially disappointing -- the veal was very difficult to cut, and the breading fell off almost immediately, causing the dish to fall apart. It did not feel like an authentic German preparation. The rouladen was just ok, lacking flavor also. We were quite surprised, particularly since the owner is from Berlin. It seemed clear that the owner is not the chef or directly involved in the kitchen. My husband is from Germany so we know what authentic German food is. On a positive note, the music was authentic and added a nice touch to the atmosphere, which we did enjoy.

The decor did make us feel like we were somewhere in Germany. My partner ordered a beer and we looked over the menu. I decided on the chicken schnitzel and Spatzle. Unfortunately our waiter said they were out of Spatzle. He told us they were out of all sides besides potatoe salad and french fries. My partner attempted to order the pork spatzle and was told they were out of it along with a few other dishes. This was disappointing, we wished our waiter had told us this when we sat down instead of after deciding. Our food was delicious, and if I lived in town I would definitely be back. I recommend not taking the last reservation time to avoid them selling out of many things. Our waiter told us this happens on most weekends.
