I loved several (already sold sadly) pieces from the resident artist Naomi Mindelzun and of the pieces in the back area really gravitated to the two men fishing - the artist adored the water and it absolutely came through. The reason for the four over the five for me is that many of the back section pieces felt amateurish. Many of the artists seemed newer and less honed in their skill, and it showed in what Gallery 9 portrayed. When we left the honey even commented that he was shocked by the watercolors presented, as he is currently taking a watercolor class and felt several students had produced higher quality work from that class. All in all the service was polite, if not completely hands off (what I personally look for in a gallery) and I would definitely stop by again.

nice little art gallery in the heart of downtown los altos. a little on the small side, but very…read morenice and quaint. i'd walked by this place many times, but never stopped in, until last week, when i saw a sign for an artists' reception/open house. the open house had complimentary beverages and finger foods, which was extra incentive for us to attend. they showcased a large number of artists, with a wide variety of talents. i saw paintings (oil, watercolour), sculptures, hand-made jewelry, greeting cards and other art forms. i was very impressed with what i saw, and i felt the artists arranged their work very tastefully, given the small space that is available. everyone here is very friendly and happy to converse with you about his/her work. i guess this is what you get from a small, locally owned business - friendly, down-to-earth folks who love what they do, but don't push their business/agenda onto you (like many large businesses do). i purchased several greeting cards on my way out, and was offered the chance to be on their mailing list for future events/promotions, to which i accepted. note that they have artists' receptions roughly once a month. i would definitely go back for another artists' reception as i really liked what i saw here.

If you ever get the chance to come show up both days so you can see the artist outlines, and when they start everything, and then day two to see the finished product!! This particular day I went with my dad and Brother to check out what new art pieces they had. We spent about an hour walking through and looking at everything. My brother, major in art and could tell us about different types of oil/paint that was used and how it would last over certain decades or fall off and crack ! Lol so I found the history of how well each artist project with withstand the time of life very interesting as well. I will definitely come back when this gallery changes to another theme! It also has a very nice park. I just wish there was a coffee shop or Matcha shop nearby! Hee

There was also a sign that there is additional parking behind the museum. After checking in there was a craft/art activity with stickers and tempera paint sticks. Low mess :). Adjacent was a play area with colored scarves, a pretend campfire, felt board for the children to explore, and books. Before entering the museum area Anna gave an introductory talk describing what to expect. She made it interactive which was very nice. They also did a song to get their wiggles out. She then guided the group through the museum to the carpeted area with cushions for the kiddos. Ana talked about and asked questions about the art on the walls. She read Under the Same Sky to the children and made this an interactive experience also. It was just the right length of time, thirty minutes. This was just right for our 18 month old grandson.

It was fun to look at stickers and also the themed gallery art. (Right now is amphibians). 3rd the small details really matter. This is the FIRST place I've been to with bag hooks at the tables! Do you know how much I've longed for bag hooks!?!? Your bag is not gonna get dirty here. Overall: price is fair, quality is great, and vibes are good. If I had ONE note, the acoustics are a little off / things can get echo-y but it's not the worst of that I've ever seen. Really, no complaints. I did like that the music wasn't too loud. This past weekend, I got to view "Simplicity & Elegance in Nature," an exhibition of lovely wildlife images in a unique art form (gold leaf, acrylic and collage). It was "meet the artist" day, so Amy Rattner was available on site to discuss her works and answer any questions. But there was much to love about the displays of other artists as well. I especially enjoyed the various works of Karen White and Maura Carta, and my favorite piece, Caroline McClintic's View from Grizzly Peak (acrylic, collage & texture medium). Free to visit, with rotating exhibits showcasing the creations of talented artists, it's definitely worth checking out while in the area.

Such a beautiful place to have lunch, we brought it from Green Lotus in San Jose, and then got to enjoy the garden area as well as looking at all the art fixtures on the property! The blown glass was beautifully and eloquently designed, but all of the pieces were at least $50 at starting. It was nice to see a 15 minute demonstration of how much detail And how much thoughtfulness goes into creating a pumpkin blown glass project, I really want to sign up for classes now!
