I asked for bouncy blowout. she gave me a blow dry and tried to out curls in at the end- no rollers for extra volume. I was disappointed especially since the stylist before gave me exactly what I wanted. The salon is easy to get to. There is lots of parking but it can get pretty full depending on the time of day.

The salon has an attractive atmosphere and they offered me a menu of drinks when I arrived, which I thought was a nice touch. I requested a trim. My curly hair is longish and I was hoping not lose too much length, as it took me so long to grow. I just wanted to polish it up a bit. I booked with Alona after seeing her work online, and she gave a consultation. She said because my hair is uneven lengths in the back, she'd have to cut a substantial amount of hair, bringing it to bob length to make it even. I explained no, I don't want to cut it that short, and I don't mind if it's not fully even, just trim the split ends and keep as much length as you can. She said no, that's not an option. Then I asked if she can think a little bit out of the box and accommodate my request? She said no. She went to check with management and came back saying no. I was forced to leave the salon without getting a haircut, as the stylists were unwilling to work with me, without cutting off a significant portion of my hair (a third, but it would look like half, as curly hair bounces up and looks shorter). The owner was nice about it, but personally I feel the lack of flexibility here is not right. I know that what I was asking was a normal request (she said maybe it feels like a normal request to you...!) , and it could be done, maybe not exactly how they would wanted it to be -- but a haircut. But they refused because they are "curly hair specialists" and rigid in their systems. I thought their knowledge of curly hair would allow them to be creative enough to help. But they didn't want to. I left feeling on the verge of tears, it was a very frustrating experience. I never imagined any salon would refuse to cut my hair. In the owner's response to my review she misrepresents what happened. Not cool. None of my hair is at bob length, it would be if it were to be cut as the stylist was suggesting. Some of it is a little shorter than longer parts but it's not that drastic. I also clearly told the stylist that I was open to it being a bit uneven. I asked the salon to be flexible and that is what my review reflected. This could been an opportunity for the salon owner to consider if perhaps her salon wants to take a more client-centered approach. Instead she decided to discredit me in her response and lie about what happened. Really a bummer. Updating to one star.

Brenda did reimburse me for the haircut because it was a rushed job that she did in five minutes after my color, but she refused to do the same for the color mishap. Her offer to fix the color didn't make sense to me. First, it's not fixable. Second, I won't let her touch my hair again. See the photos for yourself. She's colored my hair many times, every time I've either had to come back for her to fix minor errors, or I had my professional colorist in LA methodically fix Brenda's mess. UPDATE! (4/21/26) It took master colorist Johnny Ramirez EIGHT HOURS to fix my hair color, and master stylist Marilee Albin fixed my haircut. Turns out it was much worse than I thought - all kinds of chunky diagonal highlight lines underneath, all orange. $1700 later, I finally learned my lesson to NEVER return to Brenda Burns, no matter how inconvenient it is to go to LA for good hair.

Milan reached out to me after testing and indicated we likely wouldn't be able to achieve the original color I wanted (blue) as my test strand didn't lighten enough, but recommended a vibrant purple instead with some photo references. I really appreciated that they provide this consultation, because it saves both parties the disappointment when the color doesn't come out as expected after hours of working on it. Once you're ready to go, you can make a booking on their website -- Milan let me know the type of service & how long to book for. Each stylist's pricing by the hour is listed clearly on their site (and when making an appointment), and is inclusive of all services, so there's no surprises fees at checkout (additional fee applies if paying by card, but they take zelle/check/cash too). The actual blonding & coloring process took exactly the time that Milan quoted me. She was super friendly and professional the entire process, as were the other staff members in the salon that day, making sure I had water or something to drink.
