We were having the most difficult time trying to book someone for bridesmaid services (hair, makeup, or both) - we kept getting ghosted by business (what is this, Tinder? Lol). Kalani did the makeup for my BF's wedding. She was hired for makeup services for all members of the bridal party and Kalani also hired/ teamed up with her colleague who did hair. Her colleague is really great with hair too! It lasted all day! Note: Kalani did both hair and makeup just for the bride. Kalani did a fantastic job with the makeup! I booked Kalani about 5 months before my wedding, and from the beginning, she was amazing to work with! It was tricky planning the logistics being from out of town, but she was able to accommodate my schedule and we were able to do a trial the next month I visited. During my trial, it truly felt like I had known her from years before. I'm the worst, most indecisive person, but she was so easy to talk to and welcomed all of my opinions and ideas about makeup. Being a people pleaser, I never felt like I had to settle on a look because she always emphasized to share what I wanted. It was so refreshing to work with someone that really wants their client to look and feel their best! Throughout planning, my bridal party needs of hair and makeup shifted around, and continued to share this with Kalani. I was embarrassed about the number of messages I was sending, but she never expressed any disapproval or anything, which I also really appreciated since everything was pretty stressful. This review is much overdue - I couldn't more highly recommend Kalani for wedding hair and makeup. It was stunning, and I was so thrilled. At the trial, I vaguely described the vision that I had, and she knew exactly what I was looking for and her execution very much exceeded my expectations. She is also just warm and fun, and spending the first few hours of my wedding day with her was lovely and relaxing. I did a bold red lipstick and I got a bit nervous about it the day of, and she was very reassuring. The makeup and hair lasted beautifully all day. Kalani's colleague was wonderful as well, and they all made the bridesmaids and mothers of the bride and groom and my grandmother look so nice - all in their own style and what they requested. Kalani is my hero! I found her on yelp for my wedding a few weeks ago, and thank you to all previous posters for giving me the confidence to book her, since she and her team were AMAZING. Kalani and her team did my hair and make-up, as well as hair and make-up for my 6 bridesmaids and make-up for my mother as well, and everyone looked gorgeous. I had gone through a trial run but the morning of the wedding was the first and only time for everyone else, and I just cannot sing enough praises for these artists. They made all of us look FLAWLESS (and ladies, I am serious here - like your face was airbrushed in a photo, but on your actual face... seriously) and they were able to work with 7 completely different hair types and styles and gave us all 7 completely different, perfect, and long lasting hair-do's! (I was not going for a unified look, so everyone had something of their own.) Furthermore, before the wedding, I had asked Kalani to keep this on the down-low, since the hair and make-up was a special surprise for the other girls. I sent her pictures and basic descriptions of each girls' hair and face, but she went the extra mile and actually sent BACK a variety of celeb hair styles hand-picked by her for EACH girl, as well as a few make-up looks to choose from. I was not expecting that, and it was a very pleasant surprise as it helped me be able to better explain and clarify what I wanted, and it made the day-of go much smoother since each of the girls could look at the celeb photos and make little changes to suit their desires! Also, Kalani was VERY patient with me while I was working out the timeline. I think I didn't explain things clearly, but she changed what I asked to be changed, helped me know what to expect, and then on the day of the wedding she and her team showed up on time ready to go! On the day of the wedding, her team was punctual, friendly, personable, and very professional. They were genuinely happy for me, they were easy to get along with, they joked and chatted along with us, they tolerated 7 different girls asking for 7 different things, they listened to what we wanted and helped make it into something that could actually be done, and they gave us GORGEOUS hair and make-up that lasted all night long and, for a few brave souls, all the way through the plane ride home the next day (true story). I guess my review is superfluous. When I tried writing a review last year, I couldn't find Kalani, but I'm glad to have found her yelp page and to see she's flooded with raves, which she completely deserves. I met with Kalani last year before my July wedding, and she was wonderful! Everything about my hair, from the trial to the wee hours of the morning after the wedding, when everything was still intact, was a testament of her talent. Not only were Kalani and her assistant completely professional and dependable (surprises are unwelcome for most wedding planning brides), but they were the nicest, most patient people. One of my bridesmaids decided to get her hair done after all the morning of the wedding, and I felt so bad because, had she known, Kalani would have brought a third person with her! But she managed to squeeze everyone in -- and if she was at all flustered, I couldn't tell at all! -- and she got us ready in time. Four hours into the reception, everyone looked beautiful, and my hair felt great for weeks, thanks to the free extra conditioning from the day before the wedding. Kalani, thank you, thank you! Let me make this crystal clear -My hair DOES NOT CURL. Period. I told this to Kalani before my friends wedding last month so she would know that no matter how much work she did it would fall before the evening was done. She laughed at me and told me not to worry and that I would look beautiful! Of course, she was right and I cannot be more happy to be wrong! My hair was flawless in a loose, curled, up-do. It took around 50 bobby pins to keep it in place and about a half can of hairspray but Kalani and her assistant Shar got it up and looking amazing. It withstood me running around, strong winds, and children touching it all night. Plus, did I mention that she got my hair done in less than half an hour? Yes, she's that good! I did ask for a touch up before she left (just a couple extra bobby pins and a second coat of hairspray) but she got that done in a few minutes. I wish I had known about her when I got married because I would have hired her without a second thought! I booked Kalani and her team for my July wedding. Prior to the wedding, I was indecisive and didn't really know what I wanted. I don't think I look good all made up, strange I know. Each time I showed Kalani a picture, she was able to do it perfectly. When I left her salon (I had 2 separate hair trials), I changed my mind and didn't like it anymore. See, I'm indecisive. When it came to the day of my wedding, I still didn't know what I wanted and was a little worried actually really worried. I wasn't worried that Kalani couldn't do her job, I was worried that I didn't even know what I wanted! Fast forward to the wedding day, her team (her + 2 assistants) arrived on time and ready to work. When it was finally my turn, she showed me a couple pictures and with the aid of one of my BM who made decisions for me, she was able to transform me into a beautiful bride. I was so impressed and happy with her and her team. All she heard from me was I don't like this, that, this, that and she didn't get annoyed at all. In fact, she was able to complete my whole look in less than an hour and a half. On top of that, my bridesmaids looked so gorgeous! It took them about 4 hrs to do 4 BMs and 1 bride and another 3 hours to do 2 mothers, grandma, flowergirl, 1 aunt and one friend. There were a couple last minute additions and she was able to do it without making a fuss about it, sorry Kalani, i didn't know! During this time, we were taking bridal party photos at another location, the wind blew so hard that a couple of pins fell off (i asked her to put the pins loosely) in the back. Kalani did the hair for the girls in our wedding party. I couldn't decide between hair down or an updo and ultimately decided on two looks for the day - soft curls for our first look and formal portraits, and an updo for the ceremony/reception. Kalani was super nice through my trial, showing me how she'd place the veil and hair comb, and how after the ceremony we could just remove the veil without touching the comb. I was horrible at figuring out my schedule but Kalani was great at just going with it. I'm pretty sure I asked multiple times how long each person would need and adjusted the schedule several times, and she kept agreeing to the changes. On the day of - Kalani showed up right on schedule, both in the morning and in the afternoon for the second look. She left us with extra hairpins in case our updos started coming apart. I'm sad to say we didn't pay close enough attention, because part of my do did look like it was coming apart in some of the reception photos in the very back (you can sorta see the one strand that would eventually go rogue in the photo).
