I have had a number of shoes fixed here from new soles to polishing, to heel replacements and more. These guys are top notch. They are fair priced, offer quick service and their results speak for them self. If you live downtown and need a shoe repair, these are your guys.

The best cobblers in the city. I almost don't want to leave a review, because I want to keep them all to myself - but they are too good not to share. I've been bringing my shoes to these guys for years (heel replacements, reconstruction work, and general upkeep and repairs) and have yet to be anything but thrilled with their fine work and ability to fix even the worst case scenario (I'm very rough on my shoes). I wish I had a before photo. But this after photo is just one example of the remarkable work they do. This boot heel had a massive slash through the leather, which left a bone white opening. It looked beyond repair, but after they worked their magic it looks as good as new! I've even trusted them to fix my Gucci's, and that says a lot.

First of all, the staff was friendly and knowledgeable in the brands and products they carry. The have a huge selection of pre-owned luxury items - probably the most I have seen in Metro Vancouver. Their items are priced fairly considering they are used but all in very good, excellent or like new condition. What is different about this store is, they do not do consignment which is great because they give you cash up front. This gives me more confidence to buy or sell here because I have been to consignment stores where I saw fake Chanel and Louis Vuitton bags. When I inquired about the fake bags at other consignment stores, the owners at the consignment stores clearly don't know how to tell what is real or fake. This is because their business model is to rent space out for people to sell their items and they get a cut from it. They don't care if the item is fake or not as long as it sells. However, if a business buys your item up front, they own the item. They are responsible for the item being fake or not. Knowing they do not want their reputation ruined, they are very careful in authenticating bags and guarantees every bag put out is authentic. This is why Modaselle has been my go to pre-owned luxury item store in Metro Vancouver.

With a collection of unique and thoughtfully curated clothing, shoes and accessories not easily found in Vancouver, this pretty little boutique never fails to inspire me to live a more enchanted life. Fifteen minutes, a few hundred calories, and a quick Yelp search later, I found myself standing inside of their beautiful Gastown store. First, it's hard not to be smitten by the space itself. Wood, brick, and steel seem to be Gastown staples, and this space blends the materials beautifully. At the same time though, cascading wall plants and some strategically placed trees make the space feel cozy. Factor in the ridiculously comfortable sofa near the dressing rooms, and you just might find yourself inquiring about a sublet. As for the main event, the clothing, the styles are mostly classic (with some welcome twists), the fabrics look and feel expensive, and the cuts are on the slimmer side. You can find everything from t-shirts and chinos to formal suits and sneakers (and pretty much everything in between). And the best part - the prices are actually reasonable. I have to give much deserved kudos to the wonderful staff, who made my shopping experience enjoyable from start to finish. Their patience and assistance while I seemingly tried on everything in the store was greatly appreciated. One final tidbit, make sure to enroll in their rewards program, which gives you back 4% of your in-store purchase for next-time. The credit never expires, and is stored electronically in their computer system for your convenience.

If you are in their store, it is most likely that you've chexked out their website already. My review is based on the customer service I received at the Gastown location. Me being an old dude, I'm use to shopping at GAP where the staff are smiling and super friendly despite on the stupidity of my questions. In this store, I got a blank look when I asked for helped, as if like a regular dude like me don't have clothing questions. The staff was unsure on what products were in promotion which is fine, if I was in their place I wouldnt remember either. It wasn't all that bad, but I just got a negative vibe from the staff almost as if they were lifeless and annoyed. Essentially, Frank and Oak staff in this store really need to smile and greet customers as if they like being there. No attitudes despite on shitty the day is going. The atmosphere in the place felt very snotty which does not make a good shopping experience. Regardless, I will continue to shop here and continue to ask questions so beware staff I will test your patience. I like their products and their prices are fair. Good day to you all!

Selfedge, Welcome Stranger, Azalea, Standard & Strange), so I think it is fair for me to say that the service here is one of the best I've received at a boutique shop. Quality supply stores are often intimidating since prices are typically higher than average consumers expect and most brands are largely unfamiliar to many casual shoppers. Oftentimes this intimidating atmosphere is made worse by employees that simply watch you or do their own thing as you shop because they expect that most people that enter a store like this already have an understanding of the culture of quality supply and thus have certain expectations and ideas in their mind already about what they are looking for. Other stores hire employees that simply do not understand the culture or are unknowledgeable about their stock which irritates me even more. If someone who works in a quality supply store knows less about their denim or brands than I do, that just shows that they were not properly trained and should not have been hired in the first place. Dutil, on the other hand, does neither of these and hires extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff that responds to the items that you seem to be interested in with helpful advice about the brand or suggestions about other similar articles of clothing that you might like. They do so without any pushiness and are also extremely patient with all their customers who are trying to learn more about the culture or are still wrapping their heads around the idea of paying $200 for a pair of jeans. I was extremely impressed with the service. I came in just to explore their collection and asked about a few brands I liked to see if they carried them. The employees immediately knew what I was looking for, showing a respectable understanding of their stock and where everything was. My girlfriend who was completely new to selvedge culture picked out a pair to try on and the staff immediately had other suggestions for her to try from other brands but with a similar fit. On top of that, I was particularly interested in a jacket that was a bit out of my price range and the staff was very helpful in advising me that the jacket would stretch a bit and that the next size up would definitely be too large. I toyed with the idea of purchasing this jacket for maybe an hour and the whole time, the staff was patient with me in answering questions, but never pushed me to buy the jacket even though it was obvious I was loving it. Overall, a great experience here and I will definitely be back, even if just to hang out with staff.

As the mother of two daughters, I've spent a gazillion hours (and probably a gazillion bucks, too)…read morein Claire's over the years, when we lived in the Seattle area, years ago. My kids got their ears pierced there (a few times each!), TOO many tchotchkes and accessories to count, and I've shopped there after every big holiday as their sales were always pretty darn amazing. The merchandise has consistently been trendy, reasonably priced, and the selection, humongous. I've not been in a Claire's store for years, as my kids are grown now, and I've not been in a Canadian Claire's store ever - until yesterday, that is! I was invited to a New Years eve party with a disco theme. I thought I'd get some inexpensive disco accessories at Claire, as I've passed this Granville St. Claire's so many times, and from outside, it looks exactly like the Claire's stores in the States. I definitely did NOT want to spend a lot of money on items that I'd undoubtedly only wear once, for a few hours, max. Walking in the store, wow, it was such a throwback to my kids' young years, with all the girlie items, of every sort, every trendy theme: earrings, bracelets and necklaces, every type of hair tie/bow/headband/scrunchie, belts and bags, VERY cheap makeup (I'd not recommend the makeup here, IMO), smaller gift items (journals, pens, stuffed animals, etc.), and seasonal/holiday items (Christmas fuzzy socks, smaller stocking stuffer stuff, etc.). They still have all the old promos, too (buy 3, get three free). Even the layout of the store was the same as it was a few decades ago in the States, with the ear piercing station at the front of the store, and the centrally located check-out/cashier counter smack dab in the middle. I immediately asked the girl who was working for any disco stuff, and she brought me a pair of disco ball earrings right away. (It was the last pair here and I probably would never have found it. I was so glad she knew about it and brought it to me right away). I was really surprised at the price, though. Used to be, the stuff at Claire's was really inexpensive. These earrings cost over $12. In fact, I was surprised by the prices of everything here. They are significantly higher than what they used to be. I know it's been years, but even counting for inflation, wow, prices are high for such mass-produced, lower-end items. I saw some blingy, crystal-encrusted elaborate layered necklaces, and a bling-y mesh top and a metal-mesh thin scarf, all of which would be PERFECT for a disco bash - but they cost between $25-$65! Yes, $65! For a very low-end (but blingy) mesh top. Like, what? Prices at Claire's was never this high, not even close. I did find a few things on sale that worked for me: glittery body stickers, some funky disco gloves, and a glittery thin headband, all half off (on sale from $3-$6. Not bad. They always did have decent sales). On the way out of the store, I noticed they had jars of jewelry cleaner (I had been looking for some a few months earlier. I never thought of checking out Claire's for this type of product!). Nice. Ideally I'd rate this store 3.5 stars, but I'm rounding up as the girl who helped me was super nice and knew about the merchandise well (bringing me the disco earrings right away), and the store was clean and well laid-out.
