$907.00 to change out 6 smoke detectors, and failed to provide me with a detailed job invoice. Obtaining more estimates a must.

Monarch is extremely expensive compared to other businesses for the same replacement of heater. They came in and repaired the attic ducts charging just under $14000.00, did not waive their initial charge for the service call. Quoted $12000 to replace heater which was $5000 higher than another company and $8000 higher than a company I hired. Very aggressive sales management. read more

Had them come by to see why my heater wasn't heating as well. They were up in my attic for over an hour drilling and doing god knows what. Probably jacking their tiny wanks. I had to kick them out. They gave me bad vibes. Turns out they cut off the insulation around the ducts. Now it will cost me over $400 to replace them. the worst company I have ever deal with. first I want to say it took them 3 years to fix the air filter cover that one of their techs drilled a hole through, and well after 2023 they have been trying to push this scam on every customer about the static pressure. sure static pressure affects your system but it's not worth 30k in duct work. We called them to do the dryer vent duct cleaning. And did not do what we asked for. Instead, they went and to our furnace and spent time for a long time... and I asked them is this something to do with the dryer vent cleaning and we want them to vacuum the LINT inside the attic.. and we specifically told them we don't have a problem with our furnace. Later on...they told us we need to replace the all ducts and a new furnace cost $9,000. That is straight a SCAM.. They won't even check the attic for LINT. They told us to call someone else. read more

After they came by setting up an appointment that was manipulative at best (they called saying they were confirming an appointment when one wasn't actually set so my 85-year-old mother welcomed them thinking that she had an appointment with them when she didn't). Then they came back with $25,000 worth of work that had to be done! I took the opportunity to get three other HVAC companies in to give me a impartial inspection and all of them came back with significantly lower estimates on what needed to be done. For example in one instance, one of the air conditioners wasn't working and they were wanting a full replacement. All of the other companies were able to identify that it was just a wire that was not accurately connected and that was a super easy fix that I wasn't even charged for when we actually had the company come to do what did actually need to be done. Then I went to the Better Business Bureau and saw what terrible reviews Monarch had. It always pays to get multiple bids. read more

Terrible scam. Don't use this company. I have provided input to the BBB. They offer to inspect your AC for free and then amazingly weeks later a problem develops. They suggest large repairs -for me $12,000-for a coil replacement and HVAC ducting that eventually cost me $1649 using a local company that was not commissioned based. They tried to sell me a "coil replacement" that I did not need. The local company educated me on this scam. Ben Wooldridge was the supervisor and Sean Palmer the tech. Called Home Depot for a quote for a HVAC system and they sent me to Monarch. They quoted me 29K!!! I was shocked. He said I need new ducts (I don't from the other qualified people who checked them) The salesperson said I qualified for a loan with a quick check.The person could not remember my name 2-3x asking my email address and name. That was weird. What was crazy was when I told them, I don't want to be pressured....he called me and right after (5-10 minutes) he left and said that their manager will take off 5K. My fiance and I felt we were being pressured. He seemed like a typical sales person that needs to make their quote. I was in corporate sales for over 10+ years and recognized his bad practices. Here is the kicker: He emailed me the docs to sign over 10 times every 3-4 days at 1:30am!!! On his second email, I told him we are going with another company and please stop sending emails to me and thanked him for his time. He did not STOP. I finally had to SPAM him because I recieved more emails from him at 1:30am. UGH. Stay AWAY!!! Bad business practices!!!! BTW- I went with a wonderful local company with great reviews. They were easy, no pressure and was happy to give them my business. End of story. read more

We originally called Monarch for a maintenance and they ended up convincing us we needed a new system, kept them for maintenance and were always being upsold things on every visit, 5 years later they sent out a tech that told us our 5 year old system, dude to our old ducts had a cracked heat exchangers, very dirty blower compartment, damaged circuit board and had C02 leaking in the house so they red tagged us so we wouldn't use furnace. Gave us a 26 thousand dollar quote saying that it was 26K to replace the ducts and we would get a free furnace. Come to find out a FULL system replacement including ductwork is around 20K! We felt something was off especially since they left us no report, pictures or anything. so luckily we called the highest rated company in SLO county and had (Bee Right There heating and air) come for a second opinion, they did a CO2 test with no leaks found, and together we did a full camera inspection of our heat exchangers with no cracks found. We received a full report including pictures. Everything was perfectly fine with my system so moral of the story is (Friends don't let friends call Monarch!!) read more

Monarch Home Services is not a company I would recommend, I do not feel they're trustworthy! I had a new heater installed four years ago by what I thought was Smart 72 so called them for service. I found out that Smart 72 has been bought by Monarch Home Services who answered the call. The technician came out and it was a easy repair requiring new batteries to my thermostat and asked the technician to check out the unit to make sure it was working correctly since it had been serviced in four years. He did this and told me his phone was indicating '' static readings'' which were above normal and he needed to call his boss. Literally, there was a knock on my book ten minute later and it was his boss showing me the readings he was sent which were way above normal. He and the technician continued to check the system out and the boss conferred with his engineer over the issue. To make a long story short, the technician left and the boss continued to confer with the engineer and created a plan to fix the issue while he sat in his car for a half hour. The boss came back with a plan that included a package with five levels, the top being a '' Mercededs'' $19,000 and I told him I was a VW kind of lady which was level 3 and $11,000. The plan was to cut a hole in my wall and add additional vent, put all new duck tapping and new airflows hoses, etc. This would give me additional air flow, better quality of air and be less wear and tear on the unit. He felt a lot of hot air was going into the attic. Well my house is fifty years old and have not had a problem '' with gauges showing high static numbers above normal before nor have I heard this from any of my neighbor's ". I told the boss I wanted a second opinion and wanted in writing what they were going to do and the cost to be sent to me via email or text. Now Monarch Homes had been at my house 5 1/2 hours and I told them I had no intension of signing a contract today and wanted think this over while I escorted the boss to the door. Once he left, I went on the Better Business's Bureau website and found the company is not accredited, has a '' F '' rating and then proceeded to read the complaints about the company. There I found a several similar story's to mine using ''the gauge'' and one from a 80 year old woman, who thankfully got a second opinion and found nothing was wrong! I Feel ,the technician and boss saw a senior citizen with a nice home that they thought they could take advantage of. End of story, senior citizens may look old ,but we also know how to use computer's and cell phones to check companies out and I felt I was dealing with a scam artist! When they did text me back the next day, I told them my findings with the Better Business Bureau and I wouldn't be using their service. needless, I have not herd from them again. read more
