Monarch is a fabulous garage with outstanding expertise in restoring and maintaining Land Rovers. I found Monarch to be entirely honest, transparent, exceptionally competent, attentive to detail and efficient; plus they retain and offer the old parts to show what was wrong and has been replaced.
I'm going to be posting several reviews relating to multiple major jobs done by Monarch to rectify gross and fatal defects in a vehicle sold to me by unethical third party garage based in Hillington.
As a brief summary of the reviews to follow:-
When it was recovered by RAC to Monarch, my car was a death-trap, with multiple, hidden but lethal failings that would not be immediately evident to the lay buyer. My car ended up being recovered by RAC to Monarch after its second, totally disabling breakdown within a few months of purchase. I had expressed numerous concerns about the car and its handling, steering and road-holding to the Selling Dealership in Hillington, who trivialised such faults / falsely stated having fixed minor such; only to later deny any liability.
Monarch inspected the car and found numerous serious faults (Monarch finding the first and most lethal of these hidden defects within 10 seconds of the car being on the ramp!). Monarch did its inspection openly in front of me; and explained and demonstrated each of the key defects as it found them.
I was given a totally honest (occasionally blunt) appraisal and report on my vehicle, plus list of parts and labour to rectify the fatal defects. Such included my being told that I must not drive the car as it was totally unroadworthy and dangerous. Having seen such faults first hand, I had no intention to do otherwise.
Yes, it has cost me a fortune to fix as a fully paid up client, but do I grudge Monarch a penny of the money I have spent in repairs to this car (Land Rover Discovery 3)? Not in the slightest.
The difference in the car is breath-taking. Monarch turned someone else's death-trap into a complete thoroughbred, which is a dream to drive.
I've owned multiple good Land Rovers (Discovery 2s). Before taking this car to Monarch, the LRD3 was easily (with benefit of hindsight) the worst and sloppiest-handling Land Rover I had ever driven. It is now the best and most positive-handling Land Rover I have ever driven.
If you are thinking on buying a Land Rover, don't make the mistake that I did in going to a dishonest / incompetent Dealer who dabbles in Land Rovers.
Instead, go to Monarch and get informed advice (or their inspection?) or let them find you a decent car. Their service has been exceptional on multiple visits. I recommend them highly; and without reservation. read more
