My other half behind the wheel is scared, she believes it is smoke. She pulls over near Carroll's and goes to talk them. We were on our way to Braehead, so we were very nearby. Her parents have dealt with these folks for decades and they know my wife as her mother's daughter. The younger Carroll comes out and asks us to drive it into the service bay. He hauls it up on the lift and checks out the car's under-carriage. He points out the large chunk of snow on the exhaust and then rolls it back and forth a couple times to ensure that nothing else is wrong. Does he demean her? Nope. He says that it probably would be pretty frightening and that anyone would be scared by seeing that. In the end - No Charge - the guy took time out and looked at the car - No Charge. We had another problem with the suspension. The potholes from the freeze had shaken a retaining ring from the shocks. Total Charge. mid two figures Last time we had this examined at the dealership - it was over 500 quid to replace. Carroll's are what you want in a car mechanic. When you are vulnerable and relying on folks to supply you with honest information - these folks do not take advantage. They treat you with respect. Do you need anything else from a Car Repair place? My dad (pre company cars) used to bring his cars here and as part of my car indoctrination, I was told to only come here and so I did. And I still do, despite the garage being in Paisley and me now being based in Edinburgh. So, reasons why I come here: Service is second to none. My car is HONESTLY assessed. Example - If it doesn't need done for six months or 2000 miles (whatever comes sooner) then it will be done then. No scare stories that it must be done immediately. I can use non-technical language and not be laughed at. I can do stupid things, have to get the car repaired and not be laughed at. I know my car is in good hands, I'll get decent tyres/parts used on it and it won't take an age to be returned to me. No work will be done without my approval - wee phonecall to check first. 5% discount for cash I can speak to Jerry (the owner and mechanic) and explain - not go through some service desk or smarmy sales manager who says I'm wrong (or computer says no). So, good garages are hard to find and in this climate, the pounds are precious. If you need an amazeballs, local, independent garage with great mechanics and the lovely Mrs Carroll keeping you informed, then what is not to love and to cherish from the first car onwards :-)

I'd had intermittent issues with my Ford's timing belt for months, but this smaller garage did what 2 larger (and better known) garages had failed to do. Water Pump was also sorted without fuss! I won't pretend to be a petrolhead, but after many years in customer service I was impressed with the whole process for the size of the place. I hope I won't need any work for a while of course, but if I do I feel better knowing there's a local, customer-focused station if me or my older mum need it serviced. Amy

Highly Recommended…read more I like most, especially female, was sceptical when using garages to put my car through for work or an MOT. I read a review for FLORIDA MOT CENTRE and decided to give them a call. The staff was very friendly and I decided to proceed. The car went through the MOT all be it work was required, I was very, very impressed at the customer service at this centre. I was talked through my MOT and what was happening and why. I was shown possible points on the car that would require work done in the future. I was also given hints on how to treat the car (being an RX8) things that I never knew and was also given I website for any information I would ever need. I will be recommending this garage to all my friends in the local area, professional, friendly and very knowledgeable! I also found their prices fair on MOT and other works! Now I know I have a place that is upfront and honest about all their works and why! I will be using this garage here on!

But Tuga Garage is a place you can be confident knowing that your car will be looked after to the highest possible standard! The chap that runs this place is Bruno, a friendly and talented mechanic from Portugal. I've only been using him for about 6 months and discovered the place after some darn right rotten experience with other local garages. Its taken me a while to find someone I can trust, but this is definitely a place I am happy to award a 5 star rating too. The big difference I have found with Tuga is the customer service. Work has always been done in a timely manner and Bruno communicates with you well, letting you know how much parts are gonna cost and when he expects the job to be finished. Also, its the most spotless and well organised garage I have ever seen, so for a neat freak like me, this gets extra brownie points in my book :) Although Bruno is a specialist with Peugeot and Citroen, he is more than capable with any other makes. Although I've only used Tuga Garage on a couple of occasions I have found the work to be extremely professional and very good value. It's not the kind of garage that is intimidating either, so if you are in need of a helpful and reliable mechanic, Bruno is your man!

She was THEE most OBNOXIOUS individual I have had to deal with in a long time. Making cheeky comments and talking over me. I gave up trying to find anything out. When I finally got my car back, I found the paint work on my front bumper has been scratched off, but there would be absolutely no point in contacting them as they would just lie, again. Halfords was closed on the bank holiday but apparently it's ok to leave your car in the carpark and stick the keys through the door (even though it says not to on the door). I got a call early on Tuesday morning to check what the car needed (a new drive shaft) and they quoted me just over £300 to get it done. I was worrying later that afternoon that I hadn't heard anything, and they weren't great at answering the phone. I got through about 4pm and they confirmed it would be ready in an hour. When I arrived, the car was ready to go and my payment was collected (bang on the quote he'd given me that morning). The guy was super friendly and helpful with good banter, and even showed me my broken drive shaft. I believe the parts come with a 12 month warranty as well. While Halfords isn't usually my garage of choice, I was pretty impressed with their speed, price and customer service.

As an engineer myself and son of a retired mechanic (not to mention a bit of a petrolhead) I have been working on cars since I was waist high, so finding somewhere I trust completely is a tall order but John Brady's have managed just that. My first visit here was to have an MOT carried out where I found the garage staff to be pleasant and friendly. They also took some time to chat about my car and build confidence that they knew what they were talking about. Following visits for MOT's on both mine and my wife's cars have built a good, trusting relationship with John Brady's. When I used them to price some specialist tyres for my track car they were good enough to call around their suppliers and then price match my usual online supplier. I have found them to be very reasonable for normal road tyres for various cars now. I have also had some diagnostics and repairs carried out when I haven't had the time or tooling to do it myself and have found the pricing to be very fair. The well lit MOT bay and workshop are visible through the large windows in the reception area showing that they have nothing to hide (anyone who has been in a dim lit back street garage will know...). In summary - this is a friendly, trustworthy garage who will take the time to explain any work required and do it to high standards for fair prices. Give them a try.
