After grabbing gear and mask, I point him over to our fireplace to let him get to work. After inspecting the chimney, he mentions that it's clean and doesn't need to be serviced. Talk about honesty. He could've easily just gone through the motions and taken my money and I wouldn't have known the difference. Anyways, he ended up just doing an overall inspection which seemed pretty thorough, checking the cover opens and closes, testing the gas igniter, ash dump area, and visually inspecting the structure from inside and out. Only recommendation was for a chimney cover, which he quoted for but was not pushy and gave me time to think about it. Anyways, appreciated the honesty and professionalism.
