The latter was relieving and welcome, welcome news. Let's face it: businesses look for business. But RCI, frankly could have sold us costly work. They did not. The consultation, even when offered payment, was at no charge. We know who we will now faithfully hire for upkeep/ maintenance, all the while knowing we are in excellent, safe, honest hands. I'm writing this review after working with Skillings for nearly five years at my home in MA. I have…read morea point well with a jet pump, and because there are relatively few companies experienced with these systems, I trusted Skillings as the experts. Unfortunately, that trust ultimately cost me several thousand dollars. Over the years, I had repeated issues with my pump. What started as a rebuild eventually turned into two more rebuilds. Looking back, I could have replaced the pump multiple times for what I spent trying to repair it. The biggest issue came when Skillings installed a filtration system. Someone came out, evaluated my setup, and quoted approximately $1,000 for the work. The system they installed was not appropriate for my application. For nearly a year, I dealt with ongoing sediment and filtration problems. The system failed to properly remove sediment, contributed to another pump failure, and allowed sediment into my irrigation system, ultimately causing several thousand dollars in damage. I didn't write this review after one bad experience, and I didn't write it after two, either. I continued working with Skillings for years, gave them feedback, and gave them multiple opportunities to address the problems. It wasn't until I finally hired a competent irrigation specialist and pump specialist who properly evaluated my system and installed the correct equipment that I realized just how badly my system had been handled. I understand how damaging a review like this can be to a company, and I don't write it lightly. But after years of service calls, repeated pump failures, wasted time, and several thousand dollars in unnecessary costs and damage, I feel obligated to share my experience. I trusted Skillings because I believed they were the experts, and unfortunately, that trust turned into a very expensive lesson.

The guys were prompt and efficient in diagnosing my issues with my well. Thank you, Kyle and Caleb, for doing so. My issues turns out that I wasn't getting the proper voltage from my house to the pump. Kyle and Caleb suggestion was to have the well pump rewired from the house to the pump. It was completely needed. Day 2: I had the electrician out and did an outstanding job getting this completed in a timely fashion however, it turns out that with the proper voltage supplied to the pump the pump was old and fried out. Day 3: Called Skillings & Sons again to come out and replace the pump. I had scheduled a 2:00 PM appointment as it was the soonest available. Great to find out the morning of Skillings & Sons Technician's finished a job earlier than expected so I got a call that they can arrive earlier to replace my pump. Technician's Kyle and Jason came in to replace the pump. Extremely professional kind and courteous were the technicians on both trips to my house. They completed the job in 3.5 to 4 hours and i was given specific instructions on how to get my water back to normal. All I can say is that I would Highly recommend Skillings & Sons. Honest, Professional, Efficient quality company. Thank You again Kyle, Jason, and Caleb.

The customer service is horrible and may as well just have an answering machine receiving inquiries. I recently asked for assistance on a septic pumping emergency on one house and scheduling a pumping service on another. Hamm could not schedule the emergency pumping. I scheduled the non emergency to be pumped out for Nov 11, 2 months later. So a customer of 30 years was not assisted on an emergency. Not sure how Hamm can even advertise emergency service pumping? I had to hire another company for the emergency pumping to be done the next day. Two months later Hamm septic customer service left a voicemail stating they needed my credit card information or they would cancel my pumping. I am retired and was out golfing when I received the message. I was a little upset to receive the threat of cancellation after waiting 2 months. I called and explained I was upset and Hamm would get my card information when I get pumped out. I explained that I would be home during the pumping. The office person Carla left another voicemail effectively canceling my appt unless I provide my card info. My appt was cancelled when I did not see the last voicemail. Hamm is apparently fine with conducting business without regard for any consequence to the customer. During this time where there are frequent messages and attempts to steal financial information from people. I will not and nobody should have to provide card or banking info prior to the work being done. I am not familiar with the individuals that are leaving the Hamm messages. I can only surmise that Hamm wont take cash or a personal check for payment. I attempted to contact the Better business bureau to register a complaint but Hamm is not a member. I scheduled my pumping with Garside and was assisted immediately for 1 1/2 weeks out. I was told I did not have to be present and I could leave a personal check,

Thousands of Dollars of Unnecessary Property Damge - Absolutely Zero Accountability…read more We hired this company when we suddenly lost water to our house. After a rushed & cursory assessment, they required us to dig up over a hundred feet of our yard & driveway, only to later determine the problem was in the well & no digging was required whatsoever. The company failed to do a proper leak assessment & cost us thousands of dollars in additional labor, subcontractors, materials, & SIX DAYS without water, all for something they should have identified & resolved within several hours. When we expressed our discontent & contacted the owner, he made up a litany of excuses to justify their work & has since refused to call us back. We completely lost water to our house one evening. We have experienced low well water before on occasions when we used too much water, but this was different as no water was running at the time & the pressure would not rebuild, no matter how long we waited. After waiting more than a day for the well to replenish, County Pump came by to assess the issue & quickly alleged we had a break in our offset line (the pipe that runs underground from the well to the house). They said there absolutely had to be a break underground & never even considered the issue could be elsewhere. They contacted a digging contractor that wouldn't be able to dispatch for several days, so we hired our own to expedite the excavation. After three days of digging, County Pump returned to replace the offset line, only to turn the pump on & still have NO water flowing to the house. Confused, they deliberated with their management & only THEN decided to remove the pump from the well, upon which they discovered a large break in the water line right above the pump. Suffice to say, the issue was always in the well & we spent excess time & money to dig up our yard & driveway for no reason. We signed their paperwork with the hopes of moving on, but after corresponding with multiple other contractors, it became clear that the issue should have been easily identified & resolved when troubleshooting; it's common practice for a pump company to raise the pump several feet from the well to test flow from the pitless adapter, but County Pump never even considered what ended up being an obvious issue in the well. I expressed my dissatisfaction to the techs while they were onsite & insisted their management contact us, but they never corresponded until we called their office multiple times afterwards & left messages with their owner. When we did eventually connect with the owner (Doug), he was highly defensive & downright combative - he refused to empathize with our poor service experience & insisted on a number of excuses to justify the additional digging & pipe replacement. In particular, he tried to convince us that the offset line had to be leaking because of water that appeared in the trench that was dug. Putting aside the fact that the digger (who's performed this work for over three decades) said the pit water was instead consistent with surface ground water AND the fact that it rained all night before County Pump returned, I explained to their owner that an offset leak couldn't be the cause, considering they ended up replacing the line & STILL did not receive water at the house, therefore no water could be flowing from the well & leaking through the original line. Doug instead talked in circles, seemingly more to justify their work to himself than to convince us. He said he'd call us back to sort things out - we've since never heard back. In summary: 1. This company provided a poor assessment. This has been confirmed through correspondence with multiple contractors. 2. They required us to perform a ton of expensive, unnecessary, & destructive services which also prolonged our resolution. 3. We paid them for services rendered & insisted their management contact us. 4. Only after continuous calls did they respond, at which time they took no accountability & chose instead to argue with a paying customer. 5. They ghosted us - no correspondence has occurred in the weeks following the call with the owner. This is a testament to a company that is completely devoid of integrity. Do not hire County Pump
