He told me it would be a flat rate of $10 and I gave him a tip on top of that. I didn't take this taxi again as the next day I found another company and driver that was excellent. I also took this other company back to the airport and the fare was less than $8. So not sure why this company charges a flat rate of $10 when it costs less with the other company as I don't think it's standard to charge flat rates. The traffic going to and from the airport was about the same, light for the times I was travelling. When I'm back in Duluth next year, I'll use the other company over this one.

I was a pilot for over 20 years and have been an aviation buff my entire life, and must say that…read morethe Duluth Air Show was a terrific experience for me. No doubt, I lucked into what had to be one of the most beautiful and perfect days of the year on the Saturday that I attended. Wow, what a great combination of aerial displays ranging from skydivers, to fly-bys and aerobatics by historically and commercially significant aircraft, to wild aerobatics by civilian teams and individual performers, and to top it off, the amazing USAF Thunderbirds flight demonstration. What awesome sights and sounds. There were a large number of static displays as well - military and civil aircraft, both vintage and state of the art. I appreciated the fact that the static display aircraft were NOT all roped off - you could walk right up to most of the planes. Some of them were set up to walk through, which is a great experience, especially for kids. Some of the businesses at the airport and aviation schools had nice displays as well. I've been to a lot of airshows in my life, though it's been a long time since I last attended one, and I had a really enjoyable time. I always learn new things, see so many great sights, and meet so many interesting people. Plenty of options for food and drink. Lots of vendors selling airshow and aviation memorabilia and clothing. Plenty of restrooms. One warning - NO place to sit except the ground, unless you bring your own chair or upgrade to the VIP section. It's a long day on your feet if you don't plan for this. I thought the event was very well organized and run. I paid for the upgraded parking, which was worth every penny - I got there a little early and left a little early, and it was clean in and clean out with very little delay. Plenty of signs and directions, starting with the air show web site. Any time you have to accommodate 50,000 people at an event like this at a site this small, there are going to be some delays and inconveniences, but as said, it was well run, the volunteers were awesome, the crowd was chill and had a great attitude. I will be back, and would bring family here without hesitation, as many did.
