We had Mon Cheri catering our wedding at an outdoor venue in Costa Mesa this past weekend, and everyone loved their food! We had a custom menu of 7 dishes that we got to tried previously and our guests said all of them were really great! From the Shaken Beef, to the Walnut Shrimp, Duck Buns, and the Garlic Lobster Noodles, everything was a hit. Thao, Betty, and their entire team did an amazing job as we got feedback saying that they were super professional and made sure our guests had take home containers for all the leftovers. They definitely provide the best bang for your buck as outsider Asian/Chinese style caterers in the area and we were very happy with our choice! They made our wedding amazing :) read more

I attended a family wedding reception here and was pleasantly surprised by how spacious the venue is. They were able to fit around 450 guests without it feeling overcrowded at all. The layout is a large rectangular shape, which worked really well (no poles or obstructions blocking the view of the main stage, so everyone could clearly see the program). The food was surprisingly good for a banquet-style wedding. My favorite dish was the Peking duck. The bao was soft and fluffy, and the duck itself was meaty and juicy; definitely a highlight. I also loved that the lobster was served with pasta, which was a great and unexpected touch. They were generous with the portions of meat; which makes it a great value, but I would want a little more or vegetables. Dessert was very unique; similar to a traditional Chinese sweet cold soup, but with warm mashed taro added in. I've never had it prepared that way before, and it was different in a good way. The only dish I didn't care for too much was the fried rice. The sausage didn't taste very fresh to me, and it kind of threw off the overall flavor of the dish. But overall, you definitely get your money's worth with the portions and quality. The staff was efficient and quick with service throughout the night, which is impressive for such a large event. Overall, it's a great space to host a big wedding or special event. read more

I had my wedding here on 10.24.25 and it was the most magical day ever! Kathleen was amazing to work with throughout the entire process. She was so easy to get along with, thoughtful, and considerate (especially of our budget). I walked away from each of our meetings feeling at ease. Kathleen's knowledge and expertise working weddings especially with the type of guests we had was so helpful. We received so many compliments from our guests (young and old!) saying the venue staff was very accommodating and food being delicious! Everyone was so happy to bring home all the leftovers. There are lots of wedding venues out there, and going with Mon Cheri was truly the best decision we made for our selves. I will keep recommending Mon Cheri to everyone because of our unforgettable experience. read more

Shout out to all the staff at Mon Cheri! I have been here many times as a guest and even had my wedding here! Every time I am here I am never disappointed! Food is always top notch! (Honey walnut shrimp and the Lobster noodles are my favorite! They even had a fried scallop dish which was delicious as well!). As someone who is booking this venue, the staff really work with you to ensure you have a great wedding or event. There are about 3 meetings to with them to get all the details right! The food and bar packages are priced very well compared to other venues. Definitely did not regret the open bar option, bartenders were great! What really stands out for me is not only their excellent service and how great they work with you, but they are really up front and there aren't any hidden fees. Overall, I highly recommend this venue for your event! read more

Mon Cheri is an amazing venue for weddings or any events! I attended my cousin's wedding here a few weeks ago and the food was amazing along with the venue space and decor. You can tell they truly let the bride and groom create a wedding vision of their own. We had so much fun!! The venue is spacious as it held 38 tables, open bar, claw machine, boba, donuts, photobooth, and an artist booth that day!! I'm still thinking about that lobster noodle, yum! read more

I almost didn't book this venue but I am so glad I did! I was really looking for something I can put my touch on and a place that serves good food. This venue was it! I love that it was a blank canvas and I can add whatever touches I wanted. It's nice that most of the place is draped and you can add open bar, a dance floor and whatever else you may need. This place is great cause it can hold up to 450 people. Co thao was such a pleasure to work with and she answered any questions I had and helped me with whatever else I needed to be ready for the wedding day. There is a day of coordinator that comes with booking here which was nice, but I did also have my own day of coordinator. Definitely look into this venue for your reception, food is good which the guest loved and they serve a lot so it's nice for leftovers, the open bar was nice and the bartenders were great. Sad that it's over but fun while it lasted. Thank you Mon Cheri & staff. read more

Beautiful space for weddings and events. Not sure if vendors brought in the tables and chairs for the wedding I attended here but if that was the case -- then this venue is a blank slate with endless possibilities for decor. The walls were draped so it looks so elegant when guests walked in. There was a small booth set up for the open bar, an elevated DJ station, and a sweetheart table area on stage. The dance floor was very spacious and was filled the whole evening. The location is central to so many surrounding hotels and other accommodations. Food was not the best wedding food I have ever tried but it worked -- standard Asian wedding dishes. If I lived in the area and wanted to host a wedding reception, this venue would be in my top three for consideration. read more

I was invited as a guest to a wedding being thrown at this venue. Right when you enter there is a lobby and the restrooms are on the right side. There is separate restrooms for men and women. There were enough stalls that there was never a wait to use the restroom. The lobby area was used for photos, drinks, desserts, and a check in station. It was roomy and didn't feel cramped. The venue is huge and fit a lot of tables, a bar, and has a dance floor. Each table had 10 guest it was a bit cramped. The servers were nice, kind , and fast. The kitchen was also very fast every dish came out so quickly it was fresh and hot. My table had trouble finishing any dish because it keep coming out so fast and we had to pack to gos for other dishes to fit on the table. My favorite dish was the glazed walnut shrimp/ scallops and shaken filet migon over bed of greens it had good flavor. The lobster was just okay. read more

Attended a wedding reception and it was beautiful. I've been here for another wedding years ago and feel like they've remodeled since. We had the most amazing wedding here. My wife and I experienced some of the best memories. Our family loved their food, and the spacious event space. We were able to do an open bar, flower ceiling, a DJ booth, a photo booth and multiple dessert bars here. The venue and its staff are very professional. We had an amazing day of banquet coordinator named Sarah who helped us in planning our special day and provided amazing suggestions. Sarah was super professional yet friendly. My husband and I just had our wedding here on May 7, 2022 and it was ABSOLUTELY amazing. We wanted the 8-course Asian banquet without the red Chinese venue decor.... So Mon Cheri was the perfect venue! We didn't have to worry about draping, uplighting, white chivari chairs, sweetheart stage... because Mon Cheri has it all!! Their open bar option was also reasonably priced with the premium selection that was offered. But most importantly, their food was so good!! Our guests can't stop complimenting their shaken beef, which is also my husband's favorite! Everyone at Mon Cheri was such a pleasure to work with... They were super responsive to the hundreds of emails I have sent them. Thao, the owner, gave us a tour when we first visited and Alex, was there to answer all the questions we had. 3 months before our wedding, Kathleen was assigned to us as our wedding coordinator and we absolutely love her!!! She was always so bubbly and happy when we met with her to discuss our wedding! It was such a joy to be around her! And on our wedding day, she was so professional and was always making sure that we had everything we needed and that our schedule was on time. And to top things off, they were SO accommodating! The week before the wedding, we wanted to change our beer selection to Hite Extra Cold, which was not an option on their list. But they were more than happy to get it for our event at no additional cost. And this made our Korean guests so happy! We highly recommend Mon Cheri for your next event!!! read more

This was a great venue for many of my friends weddings. Good food, decor, and services. Always had an awesome time when I'm here.

SO HAPPY WE BOOKED MON CHERI!! We had over 400 guests, and it was hard to find a venue that could accommodate this many people but still hold up in terms of quality that also fit our budget. Our guests gave us positive feedback on the food (tasty, big portions, great presentation) and the space (42 tables were not packed in like sardines - there was still space to walk around and have our dance floor, stage, beer garden, entrance photos, check-in, and 16 ft long double open bar). The Mon Cheri owner Thao and coordinator Nu were so patient and accommodating!! One of the best vendors we worked with for our wedding. I would totally have future events here. Definitely recommend this venue!! read more

Mon Cheri is a hidden gem inside a busy shopping plaza. The owner Co Thao and our wedding coordinator Kathleen were very responsive and made sure everything ran smoothly on our wedding day. If we needed something, they were on top of it! You won't need to spend extra on draping, lighting, or other decor since the venue has a very modern aesthetic. The food in my opinion was average, but still good. We got to customize our menu and everything was within budget. Had a fantastic time here! read more

Just had my wedding there this past Friday 11/12/21, and I have nothing bad to say about Mon Cheri. This was a sort of last minute wedding and they were able to accommodate to all our needs. The owner was very nice and easy to work with. We were set up with Kristy for our day of coordination and she was great! Very responsive and also gave us great suggestions. I actually had some mild food poisoning the day of my wedding (just my luck lol) and Kristy was making sure I had water and electrolyte repletions. She also packed up a lot of our stuff for us and loaded it in the car! I know Mon Cheri gets very busy and has a lot of weddings, but I could tell Kristy was very caring and didn't just see us as another wedding couple. Truly appreciated that! To be honest, my wedding was mostly a blur, but all my guests loved the food and the open bar. I could tell they all were having a great time, which is all my husband and I wanted. If you're looking for an affordable and accommodating venue for your events, definitely consider Mom Cheri! read more

When we were shopping for venues for our wedding, I decided to contact Vivian, the event coordinator at Mon Cheri, to discuss our options. After meeting with her, we also went to their tasting. Below are the pros and cons: Pros - Vivian was pleasant. She was good with communication and contact. - Food tasting was delicious and beautifully presented - They offer table linens for rental - Caters towards a younger crowd - Maximum capacity of 45 tables (450 guest) - Available lighting system - The bridal changing room is large Cons - You need to find your own way to decorate (They have a few referral) - You are basically renting out the location and having them cater. - I hated the location, plaza is ghetto (Harbor blvd? no thanks) - The layout is weird (hard for all guest to enjoy the experience, some will feel left out/unbalanced) - Minimum of 30 tables required for booking Saturday events - Corkage fee - I hated the low ceilings The venue is trendy. It is also one of the cheapest. But for us, we wanted something classic and timeless. Something more formal. It just wasn't the venue that was right for us. read more

My husband and I were trying to find a location that was elegant but also served Chinese/Vietnamese food! I was so happy I found Mon Cheri! It is pretty much a blank slate and you can do as much or as little as you want to elevate it. Co Thao has done a terrific job of making it look great on the inside! I had my florist add ceiling flowers to bring the whole room together and my guests thought it was so beautiful! My dad is very picky with his Chinese food and didn't think we could find good banquet food in OC because we are spoiled growing up in the SGV but during the tasting, my dad approved and said the food was great! They had honey walnut shrimp and scallops which I thought was very unique. All of our guests loved the food and was very full afterwards and even had extra to take home. Co Thao and Sarah were so easy to work with and worked with us on our extra add ons and other personal requests we had. We had over 320 people and our guests had no problem finding parking in the huge lot! read more

I had my wedding venue here. My guest loved the food here. In fact they told me it's one of the best food they've ever tried at a wedding. I absolutely love the manager her name is Thao. Booked our wedding reception at Mon Cheri and it was one of the best decision we made. The staff were professional and experts at what they do. Chi Thao and Kathleen were amazing and made sure we got everything we wanted/needed for our wedding. We had a traditional asian 9 course meal. About 23-24 tables so about 230-240 guests at our wedding. This venue definitely held a lot more. The food were one of the best we've had compared to other 9 course meals. All our guests loved it and even wanted more! Opened bar all night with top shelf drinks. Our guest couldn't have been happier. Boba/milk tea bar was over the top yummy. Unlimited refills all night and we were also able to bring home left overs in pitchers! We had a lot of DIY projects for our reception such as centerpieces, favors, and dessert tables, which the staff was able to put it all together for us. It was great to know that we had nothing to worry about and definitely trusted them 100%. Bridal suite was clean and spacious with free food for us. What more could a bride ask for? They were always on top of the game and sometimes even steps ahead of us which was great for me since my type A personality does have some trust issues. :) Honestly I would definitely recommend this location for anyone looking to book a place for their events. read more

I had a wedding lunch reception in September 2018. I choose Mon Cheri because they offered asian food without your normal asian restaurant look (love the beautiful white drapery!) and had an attached kitchen (to ensure the food would be warm!). The prices are definitely really affordable for what you get. The final price includes appetizers (served by waiters), champagne for toasting for each attendee, plates and linens, a bigger than normal bridal room (w/ a key), a cake from Van's Bakery (yum pandan and coconut), AND most importantly, wedding coordination by Vivian. The Good: My guests said the place was beautiful with the drapery and uplighting. They were able to have vegetarian and gluten free options. My coordinator was Vivian. She definitely knows what she is doing. We were lucky to have her coordinate that day! She looked over our schedule once for edits and she gave us so much valuable advice on timing. On the day of, we were ABOVE schedule during the entire reception, which meant more dancing time! She advised us to bring everything in 2 days before. That allowed my party to relax the day before AND to figure what what was still missing. Mon Cheri hooked us with connections by suggesting us with a great bartender (Thanks Andrew, everyone loved you!), uplighting, Michael Ming (MC/DJ) that knew the venue really well. We decided not to go with the custom dance floor or stage upgrades and it was totally fine. The bad: - the venue had a weird scent when we arrived day of. This is the same scent I smelled every time I went. Luckily one of my relatives bought some spray. - You will be coordinating with Thao and Vivian, 2 people, not one. Keep in mind you will have to keep both of them in the loop. Sometimes they have conflicting information. Don't worry, just keep talking between them and it'll all be sorted out. Overall: This is still a 5 star review :) They went above and beyond to help me with my reception. You should definitely consider Mon Cheri for your wedding venue! read more

I went to a wedding at this venue last night and the venue looked very beautiful and bright. The restrooms were clean. My husband and I fell in love with Mon Cheri the first time we stepped inside. The venue is very modern, clean, and there was plenty of parking for our big wedding. There is a dressing room with a private restroom inside. They also have private security guards so you don't have to hire your own. The food was delicious and the portions are very generous. The kitchen staff also neatly pack your leftovers in case you want to bring it home. Kathleen and co Thao were amazing! They were so professional, helpful, and flexible for the past year that we were planning our wedding. They went to great lengths to help make our vision a reality. They suggested vendors to us who helped with the decor and dance floor. They were available around the clock to answer our questions and communicated with us each step of the way. We had our 02/01/20 wedding reception at Mon Cheri, and it was amazing! Co Thao is very sweet, and it was very easy working with her. The venue was also very clean and modern. It's a blank slate, so the possibilities are endless! The food is also very good. Our guests went on for weeks about how much they enjoyed the food! We had about 400 guests and the venue fit our guest count pretty comfortably. Vivian was our day of coordinator and she was incredible! Our day wouldn't have gone as smoothly without her. She has so much experience in weddings and it shows! She kept us on schedule and made sure everyone had a great time. We appreciate Vivian and Co Thao so much! We really can't thank them enough. This is long overdue, but we had our wedding this past April at Mon Cheri and couldn't be more happier with our choice. The venue had a nice ambiance and was spacious enough for our 280 guests with lots of extra space available. The place looked beautiful our wedding day. The menu selections were absolutely delicious, portions were huge and their pricing was very reasonable for everything that the venue came with. The open bar is very much worth it. Our guests kept raving about the delicious food and its portion. Not only that but Vivian was our coordinator and she was awesome from beginning to end. She was extremely helpful with the wedding planning, offered plenty of suggestions and even helped execute the overall timeline. It was also so easy to communicate with her through emails and texts. She just made everything much easier and less stressful. She executed our wedding day perfectly and even our guests noticed how smoothly our wedding flowed. My review will be based on their outside catering services that they provided for my wedding in July 2022. Co Thao and Kristy were so very sweet and pleasant to interact with. They're very accommodating and gave their best quality of care to ensure our food was excellent. We had an 8 course Asian family style banquet. They have set menus, but there is some flexibility and I was able to exchange or swap some of the menu items. Kristy took serveral trips to my outside venue to plan out all the logistics so everything ran smooth the day of my wedding. The Mon Cheri team had their own team of cooks that made the food fresh. The only thing I would say to be aware of is if you do outside catering, it does not include servers, table cloths, and silverware/plates. I had to rent that separately through another company. However, if you go with Mon Cheri you can be certain that the food will be abundant, fresh, and consistently delicious. My guests could not stop raving about how delicious the food was. I had multiple people tell me it was the best wedding food they ever had. There was also so much food! By the time the 3rd of 4th course came out, my guest were practically full and had to take the food home. I definitely recommend this place for outside catering! This was easily one of the best decisions I made for my wedding. read more

OMG, I thought I wrote a review on this place already! I had my Chinese/Vietnamese wedding reception here! It was SO great! PEOPLE: 230 CEREMONY AREA: I didn't have the ceremony there. I just had the reception but they can do it! BRIDAL ROOM: You have your own room! With key! I love it! I kept my stuff in there and it was safe. Plus I had to change three times, so it was perfect to change in. It has a sofa, hangers and mirror and table to put stuff on! COCKTAIL AREA: Same area as the reception. They bar is portable, so I was able to arrange the bar anyplace I wanted. It was very convenient. I loved how easy it was to move around. You can really organize it any place you like. The photo area where people could take photos with me and my hubby was open too. Lots of space! RECEPTION: LOVE. I had a dance floor. There was a stage for the MC/DJ and the cake. The way we positioned it was the cake was behind us at the sweetheart table! The DJ was in front of us! There was a lot of room to dance! DECOR: You have to get uplighting to really make the room pop. They charge for drapery and lighting but not much. They provide the manzanita trees and decor. I love the Manzanita trees!!! :D CATERING: 10 course meals. They have different options per table and pricing. We got the $458/table. They food includes lobster too! The food is delicious!!! We did a food tasting and the food tasting is AWESOME. Worth it. COORDINATOR: Vivian is the BEST. I absolutely love her. She is super organized and runs everything. You pick the color and the idea you have and she arranges it. THIS IS INCLUDED WITH BOOKING THIS PLACE. She placed out what I wanted and she gives you suggestions too. She helped me SO much in the planning stages and dealing with my inlaws haha. :D I don't know what I'd do without her! She made sure I had enough food and drinks during my wedding. She really ran things and everything was perfect! OVERALL: I loved this place. Great photo ops and the coordinator is seriously the best. I'm so happy to have had my Chinese wedding here :D read more

Open Bar TOP SHELF- MUST get! It is totally worth your money! Food - REALLY GOOD! I got soo many complements of the food! Everyone was surprised of how good the food was! Entrance - beautiful! They have added a few things and some draping. Dance floor - PERFECT Size! I love it how it is in the middle of the room. Lighting - great! everything is perfectly light and you can choose the color of the lighting to your choice to match your wedding theme. They REALLY go the extra step to make your wedding the best it can me! You can tell when places do things because they LOVE what they do not because they can do it. Don't bother booking your wedding at Grand Garden, Great China, and all those old run down restaurants! This is the place!! My co-workers told me how much they loved the place. The waiters were very attentive and very professional. Fast workers and very accommodating. When I got the first look of the reception on the wedding day, I almost cried!! It was soo beautiful! All the little things they did made it so perfect! You can really tell the difference when you book at a place because they can do it and if this is something they LOVE to do. Before I used to think, can people REALLY love their wedding? Now I think, HELL YES! After all the hard work of planning I am soo glad everything turned out pretty well. I am very glad and thankful to have found this place to have my wedding. The support you get from the Mon Cheri team, was the BEST! I can't think of a better place to have my wedding at. During the day of, Vivian really helped facilitate all of the agenda.
