Happened upon this little gem on a road trip and I spent far too long obsessing over this beautiful…read moreshop and the goodies inside. The owners were personable, knowledgeable, and kind. I think that the charm of the place comes with personality, if you cannot follow directions (ringing a doorbell, respecting someones store that they have put 45+ years into curating), im sorry for your loss. If you can, i highly recommend stopping by, and for sure-- set some time aside to do so:-)

The owner is not kind to women in his store. We saw a nice music box and wound it gently to see…read morewhat song it played and make sure it worked. I decided to leave it, and set it back on its shelf. The owner then came over and started scolding me like I was a child for playing the music box. I apologized, but he started yelling at me and continued to follow me and my family through the store and berate us. At one point my mother put her hand slightly up and told him "we get it, we understand," and that is when he started to get aggressive, started yelling even more loudly at us, and he put his hand aggressively in my face. I did not feel safe, and I told him "we are happy to leave" and my family and I left as he continued to become more agitated. It was actually very shocking, uncomfortable, and disappointing. I would not recommend any woman shop in this store, alone or with others, and that any men who respect women not shop here either.

Clean, plenty of quality items for sale. Although I didn't buy anything this day, I'll return to…read morebrowse when I'm more seriously shopping for an item. I did like their purse selection too.

This Billings location is very dishonest!! I've shopped…read morehere before. Took 4 bags of high quality clothes in. Chubby lady who is apparently a "buyer" was going though someone's items and complaining that it was " a waste of her time"as she was tossing the stuff down. This should have been my first clue!! I took my bags in and left them for them to check. There was new Lululemon, Miss Me, Levi's VS Sport, etc. All of my items were clean, and in excellent condition. I Even sorted the bags to jeans, shirts and activewear. Trying to make it easy for them. After about 40 minutes, I got a text my check of items was done. So i headed back over there. I looked around thinking I might just take store credit if I could find things I liked. No luck. Things I liked were the brands I had taken in and dropped off. Example: lululemon jacket: $60. Sweatpants $45. Decided to pass and headed to the register to just get cash. (We live over 100 miles away ) They tell me they only took 3 items: 2 pairs of Miss Me jeans and 1 VS Sport leggings. All in excellent condition, barely worn. Did not take any lululemon, which by the way were black leggings that had never been worn, a Lulu top that was new in a dark burgundy color. They tell me I get $13 for these 3 things!! Really??? Their miss me jeans are $50-75 at a minimum!!! I just said "whatever ", fine. The cashier said "you're donating the rest of the stuff. " I took the $ which wouldn't even buy me lunch, and left. It's my bad for not insisting they return my "donated" items to me. I didn't see any of my stuff behind the counter so I think they took it in to the back room for later. They have lots of crappy colored stuff that literally nobody would want. Think baby poop yellow/ brown, 80's funk print shorts, stuff that would be on a final sale clearance rack for 90% off, stuff that wouldn't sell in the lulu store!!! They want a premium price for this stuff too!! I will never take anything there and I WILL NEVER SHOP THERE AGAIN!! They are thieves!! BEWARE OF THIS SHADY ESTABLISHMENT!!!

I really wasn't expecting what I found in this thrift store. Some thrift stores will have items…read morestrewn about, seemingly with no, or at best little, organization. Sometimes it's a matter of available space and sometimes it's how the space is used. Only a very few I've visited can organize space to make it feel more department store than a thrift shop. GIA is a huge store, for what it is, with nearly everything you'd find in a department store. Clothes, of course, and shoes, sorted by size. Children's clothes and toys, Christmas decorations, books, CDs, vinyl, DVDs, kitchen utensils, lamps, appliances, furniture, and miscellaneous. They've done a good job using items donated to delineate the areas and although there's only one separate room it feels like at least three. The prices are reasonable, and from time-to-time GIA will have a sale of sorts where you can fill your cart for a flat price. All the items I saw were in good condition, worn, but not trashy. Gratitude in Action uses the money from the store for their mission of support for recovery and sober living and giving people in recovery a chance to be independent.

Prices are so incredibly high. Antique store high!! In fact, same type of items would be cheaper…read moreat an antique store. I believe in their cause, but am wondering if the prices were lower, maybe they could sell more, and in the long run make more money. Or are the bosses at the top just making money for themselves with higher salaries? I won't be donating there anymore. And many others in the community have said they won't be either.
