Momo's is a very good, artisan gelato place. they have the classic and unique flavors plus some over-the-top presentations. (fresh made cone filled with lquid chocolate and topped with gelato, can't even image) The cakes are beautiful and being made constantly. Indoor and outdoor seating gives you a break fromt he heat/sun or a chance to continue sunbathing. Momo's is very popular, the line was out the door but the wait is worth the treat. Even with the rush the staff was smiling and interacting. Other customers helped me (english only speaker) order and offer their suggestions for the best scoop. Great visit. read more

Came across this spot one night as I was walking back towards my Airbnb. It was a nice spot for a light dessert after having dinner at a Chinese Peruvian restaurant not far from there. The weather called for something cool and refreshing - gelato it was! The place was brightly lit and had plenty of seats inside and a few areas outdoors. I had mine in a cup - two flavors... one was definitely pistachio, but I don't remember what my 2nd one was... I typically would look for something coffee, but I don't remember if they had it here cause I DO remember at every gelato place I went to, no one had coffee flavored gelato. Cute ice cream spot right in front of the beach! Staff is friendly despite my lack of Portuguese skills. They have free wager! And the flavor options are endless. Well, not really..but like 20-25 different flavors. They have other items like waffles and shakes. It's located next to a fancy hotel, so fence is secured by a guard who questions your purpose for standing in front of him. Just point to the shop and all good. The gelato here was good, but not as rich as what you find in a gourmet shop in the US. The pacoqa (peanut candy) flavor was disappointing (perhaps because it was 'diet'). I found the brigadeiro flavor too sweet (just like the actual dessert itself). The chocolate flavors were OK, but I was hoping for a richer flavor. The winner for us was the guava sorbet. The perfect balance of sweet and tangy. Passionfruit sorbet was also great. read more

Momo is probably one of the most aesthetically pleasing ice cream shops in Rio. From the outside, you can clearly see their bright yellow walls which is oddly inviting lol. They have a moped in the shop, funky chairs, and a nice decor wall. They have over 30 flavors which make it really difficult to choose one, because they all look so good. They do provide samples if you ask! I went with the pavé (I think that's what it's called). It was so rich, milky, and subtle. I had it served on a hot waffle which made it even better. The workers are really nice as well. I highly recommend! It's a cute spot to stop into after dinner in the Copacabana area. read more

I am so happy that MoMo finally opened here in Copacabana. I no longer need to go to Leblon! This place is located in Copacabana Palace and in front of the beach. Staying at the Copa Palace Hotel and Momo's is just next door. Delicious gelato and very helpful, friendly staff. The Belgium Chocolate is particularly good. Didn't love the vanilla. read more
