I have been sneaking tastes of the cakes, cupcakes, and cookies from this baker for well over a year now, because her husband would bring over goodies to work for celebratory occasions. Talk about a sweet friendship. Btw, I am sooo picky with desserts, but I LOVE desserts. I hope that makes sense because Jess, the baker of Damduk, made that "cut" in fulfilling my sweet tooth. Not too sweet, pretty in appearance & edible without all the fondant. My personal favorite is her carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. I am not the type to go out of my way for carrot cake, but hers is moist & spiced up so right, you'd think it's fall season with every bite. & that cream cheese is so (insert Pacha meme from Emperor's New Groove). Red Velvet is another good flavor to go with the cream cheese icing. Trust, I am not an icing fan (i usually scoop icing off) but her Swiss cream is palatable. Messaging through IG is how we communicated and she is pretty straightforward. Pick up is in Aiea and delivery is extra & optional if you got a lot going on your plate. I have been looking for some sort of excuse to buy a cake from her & my birthday is so far away or I am always traveling for it. My fiancé took the initiative & custom ordered it for our engagement day & it was the cutest surprise! The cakes that I have gotten from this bakery has been so special & memorable for me. I really appreciate Jess and her hard work into making the cakes so perfect for me. It is so nice when you find a reason to celebrate & you know it's going to be a good time because you are assured that the product will come the way you want it, if not, better. To be totally transparent, I honestly am not the hugest fan of donuts, so my opinion may not be the most informed. There's plenty of room to park and I like that they stay open a little later than many other places that offer donuts. It's more spacious than I thought it would be inside and there are a few tables to sit at. The trash cans looked a little full and one table had some sugar spilled on it but other than that it was clean and warm. Donuts are displayed in a case by the register. There were a LOT of choices and I remember it being mostly unlabeled so I kind of had to guess based on appearance. There was a menu on the wall but one couldn't necessarily 100% reliably match the listed items to their counterparts in the case. Not a huge deal, but would be a positive change imo to add labels next to the actual donuts. Anyway, I wound up with a chocolate cake donut, a blueberry cake donut, and a chocolate glazed regular/fried donut with peanuts on top. The woman operating the cashier was supremely pleasant and really made my visit - she was just so warm and friendly. She threw in a couple donut holes, either as a kindness or perhaps because they were nearing closing time anyway. Regardless, the were appreciated! I brought the donuts home to my husband and we ate them for dessert later. He likes fried donuts more so he got about 80% of the fried (I wanted a little bite lol), I ate the blueberry donut, and we split the chocolate cake donut and donut holes. The holes were airy and had a nice vanilla flavor. The traditional fried donut was a little dry and the glaze a little waxy, but the peanuts were a nice addition. The chocolate cake donut was heavy and the sugary exterior was crackly in a way I didn't particularly love, but it was tolerable. The blueberry cake donut was my favorite part, as it was fluffy and not overly sweet. Again, I tend to be kind of hard on donuts because they're just not my favorite treat, so definitely give them a shot and see for yourself how you feel about them. Kudos for the lovely and kind service.
