Very good service! Enjoyed the Birthday Cake we ordered. It was just a small, 6" and was what we…read moreneeded. Thought the pastries, doughnuts and such in the case looked amazing.

There's a somewhat-heavy focus on donuts, which are not my favorite, but still plenty to satisfy folks like me. The shop is smallish but they cram a lot of different options in there. The one mark-down I'll give them is service wasn't very pleasant. No greeting, no offer to assist, etc. She sat behind the cash register and just sorta looked at me as I browsed. I felt awkward and also indecisive so I asked her what her favorite goodie was that they made. Her response was, "I don't really eat any of it," said in a very gruff tone. I followed up with what, then, she thought they sold the most of, to which she told me the cinnamon twist. I also didn't get a goodbye, have a nice day, thank you, etc on my way out. It's not the end of the world, but it did detract a little from my experience. I asked for a cinnamon twist as semi-recommended, and then a large circular loaf pan with chocolate sour cream cake in caught my eye. The price on it was awesome so I added that in real quick. Both treats were good. The cinnamon twist was super soft and pleasantly yeast-y with good cinnamon sugar flavor. The chocolate sour cream cake was moist, with not too many chips, and a delicate and soft crumb. Delicious baked goods! Aside from the surly-ish service, this was a great visit with tasty products. Worth a try if you're in the area.

It has been years since I had been in Peggy Ann Bakery. Not on purpose, I just never go over that…read moreway. Yesterday I had to make asKtop at the yarn store and couldn't think of a better way to treat myself than with Peggy Ann's, Unfortunately, most of what I got was disappointing. I did start with my favorite - the smiley face buttercream icing sugar cookie. Really, the bottom sugar cookie is just acting as a vehicle for the nearly 1" tall circle of buttercream icing (it may be frosting - I honestly don't know the difference and, really, I don't care, all I know is that I can eat their buttercream with a spoon.) It took 3 days to actually get to the sugar cookie on the bottom. Along with the cookie, I bought just a bunch of random baked goods. I bought my husband an iced brownie which he didn't finish because it was just way too sweet. I bought one of my childhood favorites - a cream horn. This is coming from the person who ate straight butter cream for three days - the cream was so sweet it just overwhelmed the delicate horn. I ate the pastry which was delicious only after I scraped out the cream. I bought a blueberry scone for breakfast - nothing at all special. And finally, I got my husband a banana nut muffin. He said "taste this" - I don't know what was wrong with it but it was awful and we tossed it. Peggy Ann Bakery is known for their petit fours. Both my husband and my son's FIL said "huh, I don't know" when asked if they knew what a petit four was. If you're younger than 50, you might not know either, but these tiny cakes are a favorite at Southern showers and teas. I've really never known anyone who just ate them because they liked them but they do make you want to go "pinkies out" when you see them displayed on the table. I was really excited about my visit to Peggy Ann Bakery but now it just makes me sad - I spent $16 yet we threw away almost half of what I bought.

I didn't expect it to be half full when I went in with only one car outside, it must be a local favorite. The menu has not only classics but some interesting twists too. We were told to grab a menu and sit anywhere we wanted. Then once you know your order you place it at the counter & pay. I got the breakfast Panini with avocado added. My husband got a half chicken salad salad and a glorified grilled cheese. We also got a pretzel salad to try. Portion sizes were great, the food was delicious and inventive. I loved the ginger citrus dressing that was for the salad, I even asked them where it was from. We were told they make it in house. The pork in the grilled cheese tasted so fresh & flavorful. They also gave us water cups & their water is good ( must be filtered) We will definitely be back. Also a plus, they are open earlier then a lot of other eating establishments.

This review is for the new Five Points location…read more Mom and I finally made it to Good Company Café in Five Points for breakfast today, and we had a wonderful experience. The girl who took our order was incredibly friendly, and the service was quick from the moment we walked in. I ordered Dad's Egg Sandwich, and Mom got the Vegetable Frittata. The bacon on my sandwich was the standout--nice, thick, and perfectly cooked. My only complaint is that the menu mentioned garlic, but I honestly couldn't taste any. If you're going to promise garlic, I want to taste garlic! Mom really enjoyed her frittata, although I think she's getting a little tired of egg dishes lately. She especially loved the toast and whatever butter they served with it. It almost tasted like maple butter, and it was delicious. The fresh fruit was also excellent (I happily finished Mom's!). My only real complaint is the size of the restaurant. It's a cozy space, but I can see it getting crowded very quickly during the breakfast rush. Overall, everything was wonderful. Friendly staff, fast service, and a delicious breakfast. We'll definitely be back!
