    Daniel's country boy omelet
    Lisa T.

It is rare that I give a restaurant 5 stars but this one deserves every single star. We drove 45 minutes to try this quaint little gem and will definitely be returning to try other breakfast items and lunch. Every single person that works here is so nice. It felt like we were sitting down at a family member's house to eat instead of dining out. The food is absolutely delicious. I had the ultimate omelet with hash browns and my husband had Daniel's country boy omelet with biscuit. The biscuits were soft and fluffy. The hasbrowns were crispy. The omelettes were perfect!

There weren't many recent reviews but since this place has been around 60+ years, we decided to give it a try. Rustic country breakfast spot that did not disappoint. Friendly staff, quick service and good food!

"Porky Pig" omelet with veggies added and a side of peppered gravy
    Wendy B.

We came in during their final hour of the day, and they were out of biscuits and grits. No problem adding veggies to my "Porky Pig" omelet. I ended up with a side of peppered gravy, and now I feel like the last one to know that gravy on an omelet is amazing. I'm stuffed even though I couldn't clean my plate. My brunch date isn't really an omelet guy, but he got the Irish omelet (corned beef hash). It was good, but he probably would have been happier with two eggs over medium instead of the omelet. I was impressed whether he loved it or not, and I'll look for an excuse to bring the rest of the family back sometime soon. Very friendly service and a quaint atmosphere!

    Yummmm!

Good Food and local favorite, just in an older building! However, the food and hospitality makes this a local gem to eat at anytime.

We did not know there was a pub crawl for St Patty's day happening on the day of our reservation. We were the first to be seated in the restaurant since it opened at 5:00. Once we sat down we found out there was a limited dinner menu. The waitress took our drink order right away, but it took 20 minutes for the drinks to be delivered. While waiting for the drinks the waitress took our food order, took our food a good 40 minutes to be served after we ordered. The waitress told us our food was delayed because one item was burned in the oven and had to be remade. When we finally got our order one of the entrees was cold and the other was luke warm. We had ordered both entrees medium, but they were also over cooked. I understand they were busy with the pub crawl, but that should not have impacted their service as much as we experienced. What really disappointed me that the restaurant did not make us aware of the limited dinner menu and that they also were hosting a pub crawl when we made reservations. We could have made a decision to cancel the reservation before we traveled to the restaurant I hope the owners of this restaurant will plan better in the future and make their patrons aware of special circumstances affecting the menu. All I know is that I will not be returning.

I was able to enjoy the breakfast brunch sampler which included ham and cheese quiche, a tomato pie, and a strawberry crêpe with fresh fruit. I appreciated the selection of quality teas, locally made dessert options also a plus. Not sure why yelpers have been so up appreciate this locally owned business. So I do hope that you guys will read through some these reviews with an open mind. We waited, probably about 20 minutes to be seated, which isn't too bad, especially without reservations and as another yelper mentioned wait times. The prices were very reasonable compared to some of the mass chain restaurants you find or even other spots outside of Mentone. The only critique I have would be for our server savanah. She kind of rushed us a little bit with bringing us a check before we were quite finished. I chalk it up to her being young and maybe not as experienced, but she was very friendly.

Our food was great as well. Zero complaints on what we ate that day. Orange juice was also very good. Most of the wait staff was wearing very tattered clothing and the worst offender was the bus boy. Although he was working his tail off, he looked like he hadn't showed in several days and hadn't washed his clothes in a week. His bus tub was disgusting. As he was cleaning the table beside us, he put the tub in the table top and as I turned my head to look over I lost my appetite seeing the condition of the tub. To know that he put it on top of the table made me even more disgusted. Not only was he bussing tables but he was also taking plates of food to tables. I, personally, would not have accepted food from him because it's very unlikely he washed his hands after cleaning tables off. Our waiter was nice but he looked very sloppy. I realize I'm not at a white table cloth restaurant but at least make sure the serve staff looks presentable. We won't be back.

Although they were less than an hour out from closing, the friendly staff was still more than willing to serve me something tasty! They have your typical southern cafe type foods (salads, simple sandwiches, pimento cheese, nice desserts) and some creative specials. There's a nice patio out front as well as indoor seating with nice views of downtown. And of course, there are plenty of nice gifts to browse while you wait for your food to come out. I ordered a strawberry citrus salad and an iced brownie for dessert later. I really wanted to grab some strawberry pretzel salad out of the cooler, but sadly the lady in front of me in line ordered the last three pieces. Sad :( The drinks are self-serve but the employees brought my food out to me. I was super hot from a long day of being outside, so I really enjoyed their sweet tea! It was very refreshing. My salad was very yummy! I got it with a vinaigrette that was bright, punchy, and was a perfect match to the sweet and sour fruits in the salad. Two large multigrain crackers added some yummy crunch. There was one piece of orange that tasted a little off and a few bites heavy on the crumbled feta, but overall I really enjoyed the salad and would order it again. I also liked that you could order it in a small or large portion. Husband and I also enjoyed the iced brownie for dessert later that evening. I look forward to coming in again sometime when I'm in Guntersville!
