It's bookended by restaurants and shopping and you get a really nice view of Lake Guntersville. Parking is, theoretically, ample -- though on a busy Saturday afternoon, spots were a little sparse. Just goes to show how popular this locale is. The shop is large and spacious and smells good. It was very clean looking inside. I was greeted nicely upon entry. They have caramel apples, chocolates, fudge, and bonbons galore, and of course ice cream and milkshakes. Ice cream was what I visited for, but the other treats looked delicious. They have a goodly number of ice cream flavors. I was miffed to have a very hard time telling what was what. The square placards that describe the flavors are quite small, and I didn't even realize that flavors were layered two at a time (ie, one carton of ice cream on top was one flavor, below was another) until after I'd placed my order because the placards are smushed so close to the top/bottom of the glass. Fortunately, I scanned these options while the employee scooped my treat and didn't see one that really I wished I'd gotten instead. I was looking for a coffee flavored ice cream and was disappointed to not find it. Could be user error -- as mentioned, the flavor cards were not eye-catching to me -- but still. I wound up with the sea salt chocolate caramel. I ordered one scoop. The employee passed it my way and I went to check out. There were too open registers and I stood facing them for a moment or two. Both employees working them made eye contact with me and then went back to looking at the register, despite me being the only person in line/needing service. It was like they weren't sure what to do. I eventually picked one and said something to the effect of, "This is it for me." The employee wordlessly rang me up and I paid. It didn't feel like she was trying to be rude, but it was...weird and uncomfortable. My single scoop was ~$7 before tip. Now mind you it was a fairly sizeable scoop...but I'd so much rather have a smaller scoop at a lower price. The ice cream itself was good, albeit not mind-blowing. Very rich and creamy. I enjoyed the sea salt caramel and small chocolate covered caramel hunks in the scoop, though I do wish the actual chocolate part had been a bit more deeply chocolatey, if that makes sense. Overall, I think this is a good fit/concept for the space and I'd be down to try it again. If I visit again, I'd look for that coffee ice cream, or maybe try a caramel apple.

My spouse wanted something to satisfy their sweet tooth: a chocolate chip cookie filled the bill. It was deceptively filling for its size, as it was laced with oatmeal -- but not too much of it -- and a touch of molasses. Even so, it was not overly sweet (which is a good thing). The young-ish counter guy was very pleasant, and seemed genuinely invested in ensuring our visit met our expectations. Again, high marks. They have coffee classics, Red Bull infused energy drink blends, tea, lots of frappes, and some minor food options. I didn't see any seasonal specials but they did have a turtle mocha, so I ordered that. Two gentlemen were working the counter and they were exceedingly pleasant. They invited me to come back out later to attend a trivia night or some such, which I thought was a nice idea and sentiment. My drink was made quickly. The inside of the shop feels super cozy and comfortable, a little like a book nook. I can imagine settling in for several hours to read or work. Unfortunately, I really didn't care for my drink. It was overwhelmed by syrups - and I say this as a woman who loves her sugary coffee desserts. Worse than that, at least one of the syrups had a distinctly unpleasant chemically taste. I'm guessing it's whichever one was meant to represent the pecan flavor in the turtle mocha, as it was slightly nutty tasting, but in a very unpleasant and artificial way. I barely drank any of my beverage. Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing. I appreciated the kind service and pleasant atmosphere and wish them well.

The lies were gross too... the dough was like leftover pastry dough with canned apple filling and a bunch of granulated sugar dumped on top of it. He welcomed everyone with genuine warmth and was eager to answer any and all questions people had. Our food came out in a reasonable time but there was a slight wait - though the apparent freshness made that more than worthwhile. My dad ordered a full Reuben sandwich; mom and I both chose the 1/2 sandwich and soup special. She got chicken salad and I got a grilled cheese. Both of us selected the red pepper soup. They have canned soda, which is what my dad got. I got a house-brewed sweet tea, which was gargantuan, delicious, and came with refills, though I can't imagine needing one based on how generous the portion was! Everyone's food was delicious. I felt awkward and also indecisive so I asked her what her favorite goodie was that they made. Her response was, "I don't really eat any of it," said in a very gruff tone. I followed up with what, then, she thought they sold the most of, to which she told me the cinnamon twist. I also didn't get a goodbye, have a nice day, thank you, etc on my way out. It's not the end of the world, but it did detract a little from my experience. I asked for a cinnamon twist as semi-recommended, and then a large circular loaf pan with chocolate sour cream cake in caught my eye. The price on it was awesome so I added that in real quick. Both treats were good. The cinnamon twist was super soft and pleasantly yeast-y with good cinnamon sugar flavor. The chocolate sour cream cake was moist, with not too many chips, and a delicate and soft crumb. Delicious baked goods! Aside from the surly-ish service, this was a great visit with tasty products.
