Ever got pissed about BS work stuff? (SMASH that monitor!)…read more That guy who cut you off (without blinkers) near University, have you foaming at the mouth? (THROW that glass tea cup!) That lying, stink breath, snake of a property manager who takes weeks to respond & overbilled you, make you see red? (SWING that metal pipe!) You ever feel so angry, you want to scream and break sh*t without someone calling the cops? (SLEDGEHAMMER that plate!). (All of this is being done legally & safely, of course, with safety suits and helmets/gloves, if you decide to drop some $$ and spend some time here.) There is a good selection of shattery breakables to choose. We were given 45 minutes but the two of us finished in about 20 (I guess we had a lot to unleash!). It gets hot in the helmet/suit, especially when you're expelling all that rage, so expect a good workout (cathartic even!) Call/check out their site for discounts/promos (including Kama'aina). Parking: lots of garage parking around the Ward/Kaka'ako area, if you don't mind a short warmup walk over.

Tried Out a Rage Room for the First Time - Totally Worth It!…read more I've been hearing about this rage room for a while and finally decided to check it out. I called ahead to ask about any discounts for locals or birthdays, and they told me they do offer a local discount with valid ID -- nice little bonus! They also said they had availability that day, so I figured, why not? The whole experience was super satisfying. Ever feel like breaking something at work but don't want to get fired? Break n Anger is the place to let that urge out safely and legally. Here's how it works: You get to choose 2 items from the top shelf and 5 items each from shelves 2, 3, and 4 -- so about 17 items total to smash. After signing the waivers, you suit up in a jumpsuit, gloves, and a helmet. They offer earplugs too, but I skipped those -- the sound of breaking stuff is half the fun. Honestly, the time flew by -- I went all in for 10 minutes and it felt like seconds. I probably should've paced myself, but I really wanted to let the rage out. No regrets though -- it was super fun, and I can totally see this being a great team-building activity. I'm definitely planning to go back and try the premium items next time!

Background On Diamond Head State Monument: Hawaii's most recognized landmark is known for its…read morehistoric hiking trail, stunning coastal views, and military history. Crater was formed about 300,000 years ago during a single, explosive eruption that sent ash and fine particles in the air. As these materials settled, they cemented together into a rock called tuff, creating the crater, and which is visible from the trail in the park. Most of the vegetation and birds were introduced in the late 1800s to early 1900s. -The trail to the summit of Lē'ahi was built in 1908 as part of O'ahu's coastal defense system. The 0.8 mile hike from trailhead to the summit is steep and strenuous. The walk is a glimpse into the geological and military history of Diamond Head. At the summit, you'll see bunkers and a huge navigational lighthouse built in 1917. The postcard view of the shoreline from Koko Head to Wai'anae is stunning, and during winter, may include passing humpback whales. Background On Visit: Decided to hike to see the views up top. Park hours: 6:00am - 6:00pm daily (Last entry period is 4:00 pm. Must enter and be on the trail by 4:30 pm.). Diamond Head State Monument will be CLOSED on Christmas Day (December 25) and New Years Day (January 1). Fees: Non-resident visitors hiking Diamond Head State Monument pay an entry fee of $5 per person (children 3 and under are free) plus an optional $10 per vehicle parking (inside the crater) fee. They have to reserve a date and 2 hour time slot restriction (You can stay longer. So don't feel rushed.) through the Hawaii State Parks Diamond Head Reservation Portal, available up to 30 days ahead. Tickets cannot be purchased at the gate. Visitation Rights: Been to Diamond Head State Monument once. Type Of Hike/Features: Out and back type of hike (1.5 - 1.6 miles) with some switch backs, stair climbing, and a dark narrow 225 ft tunnel to navigate through. So bring a flashlight or use your cell phone torch for some light. They also have some lookout sections and benches along the way to rest before continuing on with the hike. Diamond Head State Monument Experience: Even though I sprained my ankle while hiking back down the crater, I had a fun time hiking diamond. The view is worth all the steep switchbacks, rocky terrain, stair climbs, 225ft tight dark tunnel, sweat, and tears.

If you love a good hike and even better views, then Diamond Head State park is for you!…read more This amazing state park is just a couple of minutes from Waikiki and it is a must for locals and visitors alike. I have so many lessons learned from my time visiting so here are my main tips: - Make a reservation! We decided to wing it and go on a random weekday around 4pm in July and it was HOT. There's not a lot of shade during your hike and barely any wind, so it can be really hard on the body. I definitely recommend getting a morning reservation so you can enjoy the hike. - If you are driving, you can park before the tunnel and the parking is much cheaper. I believe is probably a 5min walk to cross the tunnel, plus it can be a little cool experience before your hike. - Bring water!!! I saw so many people with no water that just ended up giving up halfway through the hike. Make sure to stay hydrated. - If you are brining kids, I think this hike is for kids 5+. If you have babies or smaller kids that are still learning to walk. This is not the place for them. It can be very dangerous for babies and toddlers. Last but not least, don't forget to enjoy the view and take a lot of pictures once you are at the top!

Staff here were friendly, and also helpful in helping us with the escape during, especially since this was a family event with a younger kid, they probably felt bad for us, and we were not doing great overall, lol. Definitely exceeded that 3 hint limit! The room we did was the Y2K one, which was certainly a fun blast from the past room. For those who were 90s kids or fondly remember the 90s, this will definitely be your jam. The room itself was wide ranging of difficulty, while I wouldn't recommend for beginners, it's certainly got a good balance between difficult puzzles and easier ones. The room is also good for kids. Nothing jumpy with it that happens with this one, though, they might miss a lot of the references. But hey, if you're bringing your kids here you can tell them all about the things in there, "Back in my day...", and remind yourself how old you are! Anyways, don't want to say too much and give anything away. Have fun with the escape at Breakout Waikiki!

Chad was an outstanding guide--friendly, knowledgeable, patient, and incredibly familiar with the area. He taught us the basics of balancing, paddling, and navigating the water, and within just a few minutes we were confidently paddling alongside him. We explored the river during the evening and sunset, surrounded by beautiful scenery, calm waters, and amazing views. One of our favorite parts was spotting turtles and fish while paddling. Chad also took great photos and made sure everyone felt comfortable and safe throughout the entire adventure. As a parent, I really appreciated how relaxed and family-friendly the experience was. It wasn't dangerous or intimidating at all--it was simply fun, active, and unforgettable. The boys loved it so much that my older son told me he wanted to work for Chad when he grows up so he could do this every day! That made me laugh, but it also showed just how much of an impact this experience had on them. If you're looking for an outdoor activity that is fun, safe, memorable, and suitable for all ages, I highly recommend Chad and Nocturnal Adventures. It was money well spent and one of the best family experiences we've had together.

We consistently found ourselves marveling at just how much space the animals had to roam. It was refreshing to visit a zoo where the enclosures felt spacious and thoughtfully designed, with the animals' comfort seemingly taking priority over making sure tourists could see them at every moment. There was also SO much information throughout the zoo, not just about the species themselves, but about the individual animals who lived there! It made the experience feel much more personal and educational. Absolutely gorgeous gardens as well! The pockets of greenery throughout made the entire zoo feel like a botanical garden in its own right, with plenty of beautiful places to stop and take photos without disturbing the animals. Buy drinks (too much to carry w/ice) Over 65Club? There are a lot of seats in the shade around the zoo. Typical Zoo animals are present. But unfortunately, some exhibits are under renovation. It would be nice for Honolulu to get a special exhibit like Panda Bears to attract visitors. We're looking forward to bringing our grandchildren someday.

Plaques offer fascinating overviews of the history and geology of the landmarks below. We could even see inside the famous tuff cone, Punch Bowl! Nearby is the first macadamia nut orchard in Hawaii. The overviews are paved with railings and easily accessible. The Park offers picnic areas with a couple pavilions and picnic tables. There is a charge for non-resident parking of $7 that can be paid electronically. Resident parking is free. Parking is limited, but there are several parking areas.
