I'm a vegetarian and while it might be odd that I'm reviewing a BBQ place, I stopped in here with my family while we were in town for the eclipse this year and I had a great experience. When we pulled up I was pleased to find a rustic building with both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is covered which is nice because it was actually raining that day. There was a large somewhat rowdy group sitting outside as we walked in, so we opted to sit indoors in the AC. It wasn't very crowded and there were plenty of open tables. You order at a counter, and a very polite young man took our orders and said it would be brought out to the table. While we were waiting a very friendly gentleman stopped by the table to welcome us in and see if we needed anything while waiting for our drinks. I was struck by how friendly the staff was and it definitely made a great first impression. I've been pleasantly surprised to find that BBQ places usually have options for vegetarians because of all the delicious sides (which is my favorite part anyway). I was very happy to enjoy a baked potato, mac and cheese, cole slaw etc as my family enjoyed the typical bbq fare. We were given I think one cup of bbq sauce with our plate but were able to get more when we asked the staff. As we were eating, Moma T herself came out and introduced herself, and just like everyone else we met she is one of the nicest people I've met. So super welcoming and even offered us a slice of complimentary cheesecake. It was super generous but we ended up going up to order and pay for two slices of cheesecake. It was very decadent, maybe a little too sweet for me but they had a ton of different flavors that all looked delicious. The customer service definitely earned the 5 stars for me on this one, I would visit again if I was ever back in town. read more

Moma T is amazing, and so is her food. We were lucky to be the last people visiting, and she made us feel so welcome. Chatted with us and included us in her raffle. We are definitely coming back. The food was amazing, but the service was the what makes the place unforgettable! She told us we could bring some wine from the nearby winery, and allowed us to share a bottle in our table. I cannot even BEGIN to tell you how amazing Moma Ts is. I got the two meats, chicken and pulled pork with fried Mac and potato salad. Let me just TELL YOU. The pulled pork was so juicy. The chicken was dripping it's was so good. The grilled cheese is AMAZING, goat cheese?! You bet. PLEASE if you are visiting or in the area stop here and feel your bellies then fill your heart. Moma T is the sweetest woman ever I have never met someone with as much kindness as her. She puts her soul into her cooking, you can taste it you can see it and when you're done you can feel it. I had the 3 meat plate consisting of brisket, ham, & ribs, all the meats were tender & juicy !!! The Charo beans were good as was the potato salad !!! The Bbq sauce was sweet & a little bit tangy !!! Our waitress was Super Sweet, Polite, & she had fun with my Grankids !!! The ambien was nice, could have been better if not for the cold weather !!! Needless to say if I'm ever back in East Texas I will definitely stop there again !!!! read more

The service was unbelievably slow and poor. They had more than adequate wait staff in my view. It took them over 25+ minutes to bring the food. I had to ask for it or I might still be waiting. The beans and cole slaw were great but the brisket was VERY below average. Unappetizing at its best. I can't recommend. I had to beg for my check and a 12 year old checked me out at the register. I see where this restaurant has several excellent reviews. I'm happy for them but this wasn't my experience. read more

The food from Moma T's was excellent! Hubby had the Barnyard and loved every bite of it. His only negative comment was that he wished the bologna had been fried before putting it on the sandwich. I had the Black & Blue burger ya did it was quite good, although I am not a fan of smoked burgers. The family that runs this place has the potential to do great things but they were extremely short staffed (no one wants to work if they can stay home and get unemployment ). Mom& Dad were in the kitty cooking up great meals and their two kids were working the dinning room taking orders and serving food. I wish them luck and would have given 5 stars if the service was better. read more
