It's nice to have a Molton Brown shop in the city centre as previously we had to drive all the way out to Kildare Village to get our hands on their lovely goodies. They have a good variety of bath products, hand cream and candles and everything smells delicious.
I disliked two things about the shop, one is the assistants who launch on you the moment you walk in to see if they can help you. I think it's highly unlikely that the second you walk in the door in any shop, that help is needed. Let me look around for a minute or two, then check in please. Second thing, and I know lots of shops do it, is the upselling at the counter. My other half was buying a present for my mother's birthday and the assistant couldn't wait to tell him that if he spent ten euro more he could get a free gift of travel sized bottles. Molton Brown is an expensive shop, I doubt you'd get anything more for 10 euro so you are then caught buying something for 13-15 euro just to get some freebies! Not on my watch Molton Brown! I know this is the way of retail but this kind of pushy selling irritates me and kind of made me want to run to the car and go to Kildare village where the staff leave you alone and don't try to force you to buy crap you don't need. Also what is with the "can we have your email address?" thing that shops are now doing? That needs to be addressed. read more
