    Molokini 4/17/12

Molokini is a small uninhabited island about an hour, boating time, away from Maui. There are snorkel tours that leave out of Buzz's Wharf that take you to and fro, and let you swim in this crystal clear waters. They say you can see anywhere from 100-150 feet down, the water is so clear. After going there, I can say that I am a believer! Saw the most gorgeous coral, fish, and even a smaller white tipped reef shark on our trip... But no turtles. If you are looking for a spot to swim with them, try Napili or Black Rock. FYI, the address for Molokini is wrong, somehow got a signal to check in, but the tower must have been in Kihei.

After reading many rave reviews for Maui Dreams, I enrolled in the Rescue Diver class through their…read moreshop. I scheduled the class a few months in advance, and they even advertised it to recruit another student (after all, you can't rescue yourself!). I learned from the best--Kerri is a true expert in both diving and instruction. He is incredibly patient and explains concepts clearly. He took the time to answer all of our questions and really instilled the importance of dive safety--that anything can happen at any time, and you always need to stay aware, especially in and around the water. We practiced multiple real-life rescue scenarios in the water, which made the training feel practical and incredibly valuable. I learned so many important skills from Kerri--both ones I hope I never have to use and others that I will carry with me on every dive going forward. I look forward to diving with Kerri and the Maui Dreams crew the next time I'm on Maui!

When I moved here I went to Maui Dreams and they fitted one that worked perfectly until it was time to upgrade years later. I've done a few upgrades with them and all have worked out well. Sadly, the other day before a swim the strap on my mask broke. I swim twice a week so it was depressing. I went to MDD and told Chris the issue. He fixed my strap and sent me on my way to have an amazing swim. Truly one of the best managed companies on the islands. Please bring your biz to them as they are there to help. Whilst waiting for my mask about 3 associates made sure I was being helped. Much aloha Maui Dreams Dive!

Michael did a great job of going over what to expect. He did a great job during the dive as I originally struggled a bit, mostly due my long layoff from diving and the current. However he kept me calm and I improved my technique during the dive, I was use to drift dives. I was originally scheduled for a 2nd dive but we spent 55 minutes on the 1st dive, more than I expected. I didn't expect that length of time or that heavy of a current. Scuba Shack refunded the cost of the 2nd dive. It turned out 1 dive was perfect amount of time and we saw lots of fish, juvenile rays and even a turtle.

We were 4 snorkelers with 6 divers. We had to be at the marina at 5:20am and the early start was worth it. We were the 1st boat out to Molokini. We got to watch the sunrise while the scuba divers got ready. Capt Charlie was the over watch for us snorkelers and he gave us very clear instructions on where to go and how far away from the boat we were allowed to wander. Next stop was Turtle town, we only saw one turtle but still enjoyed an hour snorkeling around. The staff was great and the snorkeling was fun. We went back in to Scuba Shack a couple of times and every time they gave us great suggestions on places to eat that didn't disappoint.

From start to finish, the entire crew went above and beyond to make our day special. Matthew DeMayo captured everything so beautifully--his photos are something we'll treasure forever. Captain Darryl, Julian, and Stiles were not only professional and knowledgeable, but genuinely warm and attentive the entire time. And a huge thank you to Adella, who made our son's very first snuba experience unforgettable! Traveling with kids can sometimes be unpredictable, but this team was so kind, patient, and engaging with our boys--it really meant a lot to us as parents. Watching our son light up during his first snuba dive was such a special moment, and we're so grateful it happened with such a supportive and fun crew. You can feel how much this family-owned company truly cares about what they do. If you're considering an ocean adventure in Maui, this is the team you want. We can't recommend them highly enough!

I found the crew to be so-so and not 100% engaged in their work with exception of the snuba instructor. The Captain that day was particularly unfriendly and this is clearly a job to him, not passion. The breakfast was blah as was the lunch. I did appreciate the beer. They should have had bottled water and soda cans which would have fared better on the boat. One of the highlights was reeling in a 6 foot, 20# ono which completely delighted my daughters. Biggest downside- they didn't let us take our own pictures preferring their photographer to do it. The cost for pictures was completely ridiculous. The grumpy captain clearly did not want to share the fish stating that it would be at least an hour before fillet and dividing it up amongst the crew. I chose not to let the crew and the photography to sour the experience. What a joy it was to share the experience of swimming with the fish with my daughters. Biggest perk- prescription sunglasses that allowed me to see 20/20 clear! Be aware- the parking cost is monstrous :( Totally wish I could own my own boat to be out and about snorkeling in the absolute gorgeous Maui ocean life!

Everyone was nice, fun, helpful, and friendly. First of all, they were the ONLY op to request to see a negative covid test and insisted everyone wear a mask while on the boat. Other ops asked everyone to wear a mask but only enforced it when near the dock. Secondly, Pauline was our DM and a gem. You know she is passionate about diving and the creatures in the ocean. She goes into depth about animal behavior which I found fascinating. Before we jumped in, she told us about an octopus with eggs in a small crevice under a tank. She explained they would be difficult to spot but we really had to get our head down low (and she wasn't kidding). The boat is capped at 6 divers but we only had 5 so we took our time to find them. Everyone patiently waited their turn and no one cut the line. Someone mentioned MS is not patient with newbies but that's not what I observed. They answered all questions and made sure everyone was comfortable before jumping into the water and before we descended. I was a little cold but thoroughly enjoyed each dive. Lastly, they have the BEST snacks. They have fresh baked cinnamon buns, cookies and banana bread. I can't recommend them enough.

Pauline from Mike Severn hit me up, not 5 days before and was able to swing me into a dive the day after I arrived. It was really awesome and very informative, it's my first dive of the year and I was super excited, I've also never been to Molokini as well. We saw an octopus, a couple eels and also a friggin shark! which was really cool! They made a good job of keep everyone socially distanced and keeping everyone safe. I also like the fact you head out at like 6AM so beat the crowds! Great company to dive with!!

I booked 3 boats dives on Tuesday and 2 boat dives on Wednesday with Ed Robinson's Diving Adventures. I would've booked 2 more boat dives with them on Thursday if I didn't have to hang out with family. Ahhhh... They took me to the coolest dive spots and I love how the dive groups were small because the dives didn't seem crowded at all. Meetup time is 630 am at the small boat ramp at 2800 S. Kihei. You fill out paperwork when you get there then they help you set up gear. If you want Nitrox let the staff know in advance and I think it's $19/tank. You get a lot of freedom diving with Ed Robinson and crew, so long as you dive safely and stay out of deco, and they're very open to site suggestions/requests. I love it! Out of the 5 dives I did with them I liked The Apartments, 85, and Red Hill the best. Transportation to and from the boat ramp and breakfast are not included but snacks, drinks, deli style sandwiches, and towels are. I would definitely recommend Ed Robinson Diving Adventures and prefer them over other dive companies. You will get more attention and be taken to cooler sites with this staff. Can't wait to come back and dive with them more! I won't dive with any other dive company in Maui again!
