No Sprinkler Service for you!…read more I see their trucks around town all the time, so I decided to give Sam's a try. We had a minor sprinkler repair situation. My husband decided to work from home on the day, three days after we made the appointment. They scheduled for 8am. At 9am, the guy texted to say he was running late. He showed up at 10:15 and took a look. Very quickly said some PVC is broken. It would be $500 to repair and take 3-4 hours. We agreed (at first) and he said someone would start at 11:30. After considering, $500 seemed high. They would have to dig an 18" by 18" hole (which my unskilled husband later did in an hour) and replace or glue a $25 pipe. We asked about the timing and price, offering $300. He said he can't do that and had already booked another job anyhow. I suspect Sam's might be more responsive and professional for bigger jobs. It's too bad. We plan to redo the landscaping, hardscaping, and replace the sidewalks and patio this year. Sam's seemed like a good outfit for the bigger job, so we tried this test run. Because of this subpar experience, we'll be hiring someone else.

We hired this company to remove the sod from our front yard for a landscaping project…read more Unfortunately, the work was not as thorough or transparent as we expected. They were over an hour late, several areas of intact sod were left behind, which we had to go back and remove ourselves. More concerning, sprinkler tubing and wiring were damaged during the removal, and rather than bringing the damage to our attention, some of it appeared to have been covered up. We only discovered the issues afterward when we were preparing the yard for the next stage of the project. To their credit, the company did reimburse us for the sprinkler repairs once we brought the damage to their attention, and I appreciate that they ultimately made that right. However, the fact that the damage was not disclosed and that multiple areas of sod were left behind significantly affected our confidence in the quality of the work. I would recommend being more clear about any damage and doing a more thorough final inspection before considering the job complete.

The company advertises "professional, reliable, trained experts," but the service has been anything but that from day one. From the very first visit, the quality of work was disappointing. The man who arrived performed work that honestly could have been done by a teenager for a fraction of the cost, yet we were charged nearly $300. When I asked basic lawn care questions, his trained expert opinion was he wasn't sure. Completely unsure and unable to provide answers! They also promise advance notice before arriving, but they have failed to do so repeatedly. Crews have shown up as late as 8PM on a Saturday without any communication. Most concerning, while we were out of town, they SOMEHOW entered our LOCKED backyard without permission. We never authorized access, and entering a locked yard without consent is completely unacceptable and felt like a violation of our privacy. On top of that, the work itself is careless. Weeds along the sides are ignored, grass clippings are left piled around the house. For the amount they charge, the service is nowhere near worth it. This company requires full payment for the entire season upfront, but when we tried to cancel due to poor service and requested a refund since they would not be completing a full season worth of services, we were told "sorry wish we could help you, but the money has already gone to operations". Despite multiple requests, I have yet to receive documentation supporting the alleged "verbal no refund would be issued agreement". To make matters worse, during one of my calls, I overheard another customer expressing similar frustrations with the company's service!! Save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere. I checked Yelp and Google, and I also posted in my neighborhood Facebook group to see who my neighbors used for their turf jobs. While there were several options, one company seemed to rise above the rest...Rock 'N Block. Based on the reviews, plus info I read on their website, I assumed Rock 'N Block would be out of our price range. I made appointments for both them and a few other competitors to come out and provide estimates. Austin came out and gave his pitch. Although, I'll say, it wasn't really a pitch like what I expected from a used car salesman. It was more what you'd hope, as someone like me who doesn't know much about turf other than the little I had read, to get from the experience. Austin answered my questions. He further educated me. He gave me other things to think about...and things I hadn't thought of...to ask the competitors. Yes, he measured and did the other things you'd expect as well. Before leaving, he gave me the price on the spot, and I was shocked at what it was. While I still wanted to talk to others, just for the comparison, I was pretty sure Rock 'N Block was who I wanted to do business with. In my discussions on the neighborhood Facebook site, I met another former customer who invited us to come see their yard, which was many times larger than ours. They raved about every aspect of Rock 'N Block, from the top down. From sales, through installation. Their yard, which has the same natural turf we were looking at, was gorgeous. Within a week, we had confirmed what we thought a week earlier. Yes, price was important, but it was also the quality of the turf, what we thought would be best for our dog, and what we thought would be best for us. Add in the reputation and support of the company, and it was easy for us. Originally, installation was supposed to take place today, but with heavy rain forecast, they pivoted on Monday and did the installation yesterday. The crew showed up on time and, after a brief chat with me, they went about their work. Mario, the project manager who came out last week for another measure and to make sure he had his sketch and the order correct, was the first one onsite yesterday morning. I was told it'd be a one-day job, and as it turns out, they were in and out in around five hours. Our backyard is gorgeous...maybe even better than what we had hoped. And our dog likes it too. The team was friendly, courteous, and definitely experts at their craft. While there was a big mess in both the front and back of the house when they started and during the day, by the time they were gone, you'd never know anyone was there. Everything was pristine, and we had a lush green backyard once again. Mario was originally coming back today for the final walkthrough and signoff. However, Travis, the owner of the company, was actually the one to come by. It's clear he cares about the customers he serves, and it's obvious his views on doing whatever he can to make sure every job is right is passed down to his team. I cannot recommend Rock 'N Block enough. This is the way a business should be run. If you're considering turf, you owe it to yourself to consider Rock 'N Block for the job.

Although my whole yard got destroyed in the tear out and all my sprinklers in the back still non functioning. The owner sent me my final balance invoice with ZERO concessions. I offered a fair and reasonable amount to settle the accounting on the project. 6days now I have not received a response as to what is next?
