I know of no one, who is as fearful as I am about dentistry work. It doesn't matter if it's being done to someone else. I hear that damn drill, and I get very nervous, and my shaved head gets moist. I'm not kidding. Even if I am having nothing done. I use to delivery to dentist 20 years ago. Every single time I went to a dentist, I heard the same thing. "We can't give you anymore anesthetic". EVERY TIME!! Toxicity or cost - every dentist would not give me anymore, and it was just, grin and bare it from there. Just for cleaning!! Deep cleaning, forget it!!
I found out I had to have two root canals. I didn't think I'd survive it (Not hyperbole). After almost a year of waiting and reading reviews, I finally went to see Dr Molina.
On the phone, I explained to the VERY patient receptionist, my issues. She took a lot of time to reassure me. I went in. I met with the patient receptionist, and ask for meds. She explained she wasn't in that position (remember, this is just an evaluation). I meet with a very nice and understanding (cute too, as are all the women in here) Dr Molina. I gave Dr Molina the same diatribe of my relationships and experiences with dentist, and ask for a Valium. Again, no can do. Bottom line; Dr Molina assured me she would not continue unless she could numb me. I explained, dentist had always stopped giving me anesthetic. I asked her about general anesthetic or anything that would knock me out. Dr Molina asked me to let her try and numb me first. She told me, if I feel pain, raise my hand and she'll numb it more, no matter how long it takes. I was adamant and left no room for Dr Molina to equivocate. We had an agreement. I HAD TWO ROOT CANALS that day. I had to come back for another it turned out. Dr Molina told me, I was extremely difficult to numb. She asked me to come back for my third root canal, when both doctors are there, so as to have someone to prepare me (shoot me up)! Every time I alerted her to oncoming pain, she stopped, tested it with freezing cold. Shot me up more, and test with the freezing stuff again, until I didn't feel it. Then we'd continue.
When I went in for my third root canal, Dr Paul did it. Not as good looking as Dr Molina, but just as good on my tooth. Same, raise my hand if any pain. I did, and Dr Paul took care of it. Totally satisfied with the entire office. Receptionist, dentist, and fillings. Be aware, if the temporary filling is too sharp on a sharp tooth, you'll cut your cheeks every time you eat.
I'm not saying your going to be throwing a party, while they drill. I was tense throughout the procedure. But I never received that point when they hit the nerve and I jump 18 inches in the air. NEVER. I was always waiting and expecting it - but it never came. These three root canals were easier than many cleanings and undoubtedly deep cleaning (no comparison).
If you sound like me, explain your issues and give these people a call. Like I said; your not going to be singing and dancing while they drill you, but I know I can do it now, with Dr Molina or Dr Paul. Dr Molina has an interesting life story. I was hoping to hear part two, but it didn't happen. Believe me, if they had done a bad job after telling me different. They would have heard it in the office right then, and read it right here on YELP. I wanted to give them a hug, but was afraid they may call the police. read more
