Our…read morehouse was so full of ants that we would find them on rugs, on ceilings, even in our bed at night. They were everywhere. We had Campbell out a couple of time, but it got worse instead of better. Then they sent Darryl, and he earned our eternal gratitude. He found ant trails we didn't even point out, or know we had, and figured out where they were going to and coming from. He went into rooms that we hadn't reported a problem in (with permission, of course...) and showed us where additional ant activity was. Then he baited incredibly carefully, to ensure our cats would not be at risk of exposure to the bait. (Our cats loved Darryl too!) He even followed up with a text a few days later, saying he was thinking about our job, and he wanted to know if the situation had improved! Who does that?! It had improved, by 85 - 90%, but we still saw ants. So he returned and spent an equal amount of time and patience identifying their sources. Darryl has made a tremendous difference in our ability to enjoy our home He is a treasure, and a super nice person, Thanks Darryl, and thanks to Campbell for sending him!!

The first technician, Peyton, was incredibly kind and reassuring -- he told me he'd seen way worse and instantly put me at ease. He was polite, professional, and efficient, and I only needed to be out of the house (along with my cat) for about an hour while he sprayed. You're guaranteed three sprays for one initial price, which I found to be very reasonable. When the second spray date came around, I was running behind -- my cat wasn't in her carrier, my stuff wasn't ready, and I was flustered. Peyton patiently waited for me to get everything together and even helped carry a few things to my car! That kind of kindness is rare and so appreciated. By the third spray, I had a new technician named Isaac, who was just as friendly and patient as Peyton (again, I wasn't quite ready -- when they say 11 to noon, expect 11 promptly! ). Both technicians were fantastic: professional, punctual, and genuinely kind people who made a stressful situation so much easier. I can't recommend Campbell Pest Control enough -- their customer service alone deserves five stars. Every time I called, a real person answered the phone - no robots whatsoever. I even spoke with the owner, Austin, who was extremely kind and is the reason I'm writing this review.

Then I pointed out my no soliciting sign and asked if he read it. He said yea I read it and continued on with his sales pitch. A total shark! I booted him off my property. Well....today while kicked back resting after working hard in the yard, another sales guy who identifies himself as the manager, shows up. Now Im beyond pissed off. He calls me by the wrong name and starts in on his sales pitch. BTW, beware....they always start out by sharing a my neighbor uses their service and suggest he contacts you. I stopped him and c asked if he read the sign. He said he had but he wanted to talk with me as my neighbor thought I would want their service. This is such crap. They lie, lie lie! Never happened. After I cautioned him to stay off my property and to abide by no soliciting sign, he responded by accusing me of being stressed out. Yep I am I told him because you can't abide by the sign. I told him to leave and don't come back. He was incredibly cocky. In fact all the sales guys have been rude and cocky. This company has demonstrated itself to be disrespectful. Based on my experience, you would be a fool to use them. Im considering serving them with a no contact order or an official no trespass letter.

He went under the house, found evidence of a new rodent incursion and then covered the whole property to mend the holes in mesh that covered crawlspace vents, set traps and then came to explain what was going on under my floors. We then walked the house perimeter to show where the critters likely got in there during the recent snowstorm. I'm confident in the accuracy of his assessment. He'll be back in a week to check on the traps. I have needed a new vapor barrier down there so I will be getting a bid for that as well. All in all, the pricing was fair and the service exceptional. I had a carpenter ant problem that was occurring through most of the summer at my home (seeing 5-10 ants in the kitchen area every day) and I gave Shrum's Pest Control a call. The moment Holly picked up the phone she was so pleasant to speak with and completely understood the problem as soon as I started explaining it. I'm a detail oriented person and both Holly and Kelly are very much into the details when explaining the work they do. I loved how Kelly explained my options and the costs associated with it. A basic full exterior spraying for carpenter ants costed me around $250, but it can range upward depending on the square footage of the home. Kelly set expectations and explained additional work (interior powder in crevices, etc) that he could do for a fee, but recommended against it unless we saw the problem persist. Another aspect that I love about Shrum's is their integrity. Kelly and his son stood up to an owned their work. They recognized my concerns and were able to address them. They even explained why it was important for me not to sign up for an annual plan because it's a common sales tactic that larger companies (Terminix) use to make money. I highly recommend Shrum's Pest Control. They returned all my phone calls, they stood by their work, and they were the most reasonable in pricing that I could find (among the 3 companies that I called) in the Portland area. Based on yelp reviews I called them. After confirming the type of termite (dampwood) Pete said not to do anything because they only live in that sort of soggy wood and they'd be gone in an hour. He was right! He then reassured me that they'd leave the house alone. I'd have spent a LOT of money if he'd told me I needed to get rid of them, so I'm extremely grateful for his honest advice.
