Ive done vigorous vinyasa yoga and enjoy the refreshing pace as a change. Also offers Zumba, and a more vigorous flow class, which I haven't tried yet. Biggest complaint is the minimal soundproofing in the foyer - either incoming students are especially noisy, or the walls are thin (probably the latter)! Occasionally during the final relaxation you're disturbed by happy chatter of folks waiting for their class.

Her knack for providing carefully crafted instructions to individual students is awe-inspiring. There is no painfully regurgitated "dialogue," and no ridiculous and extreme conditions that cater to the egotist. Don't get me wrong--the room is hot and humid, but you sweat because she makes you work hard, not because you feel faint due to a heat index of 150. Mary Ann knows all the modifications for those who have any ailments, and how to push those who master the basics. You can take a break if you are having an off day without absurd repercussions or belittling. Unfortunately, I can only make it once or twice a week now since I moved away--but the high quality instruction and proper conditions make it worth the trip. Definitely try the place, especially now with the brand new accommodations--always clean and never smelly. Easy parking eliminates yet another headache. Go in prepared to listen and learn, and you will be amazed at how much you didn't know!

Not only are the aesthetics of Santosha immediately calming, but I have always felt welcomed and accepted by the teachers and staff. The front desk employees have consistently been pleasant and helpful--and often drop into the class themselves after everyone is checked in. All of the instructors I've met thus far have been highly knowledgeable, warm and compassionate. Overall, they have balanced explaining poses, breath work and technical aspects of practice with essential core concepts for understanding and deepening one's yoga practice. All of the classes I've attended have been inviting, honest and uphold the true meaning of yoga--unity. I've especially enjoyed the "Energy Healing Clinics" offered monthly (I think it's monthly anyway)--$5 donation for quick Reiki sessions and other energy healing practices. Santosha offers a discount for students as well as military personnel which I think is great--a way to increase accessibility to yoga. The only downside to this studio is that there are relatively few classes offered each week. Nonetheless, Santosha is a wonderful oasis and a hidden gem of Cranston for sure. It has a great location with plenty of parking, (great coffee right in the plaza). The studio is welcoming, warm, clean, with plenty of space. Karen's voice is clear and easy to follow, she instructs through each pose, and provides helpful cues. The class did provide some challenges but without strain or pain. Every single class is an invitation to reconnect, be present and completely lose track of time. Yes. I leave sweaty and feel an incredibly positive impact on my body and health. But, NEVER do I feel like I am doing a thing I should do... I am always finding myself on the mat. I regularly take classes with Pam, Talia and Anthony. Each class they teach feels like a gift. I'm a huge fan of the community classes because it makes yoga accessible to anyone in the community who is interested in learning about and practicing yoga. I also love that that they are constantly offering classes and seminars that cover a wide variety of yoga related topics. The studios are kept in pristine condition and I greatly appreciate that they provide props for classes as well as inexpensive mat rentals.
