If you're going to brandish the lofty slogan "treat every patient as you would treat your own family member," it would be wise to first understand that such words demand a level of competence, organization, and basic human decency that, regrettably, seems entirely absent from Mr Mokha. A referral was faxed over with the assurance that it would be reviewed within one to two weeks. That time passed in predictable silence. In a futile attempt to aid this provider's office's evidently staggering inefficiency, I personally hand delivered another referral two weeks later, and the front desk, in their finest display of unearned confidence, confirmed receipt and assured me that I would be contacted within the week to schedule an appointment. *51 days later,* I am still waiting for this so-called contact. Upon visiting the office again--because apparently, that's what it takes to inspire even the barest hint of action--I was informed that Mr Mokha, in all their infinite busyness, *still* hadn't bothered to look at it. If you are incapable of managing your practice, have the decency to set proper expectations. Do not tell people two weeks if you intend to let their referral gather dust for seven. Such behavior betrays a profound lack of respect for humans and their time. It reveals either an alarming incompetence, or worse, a complete indifference toward those you've taken an oath to serve. If you really treat your family this way, I pity them. If you don't, then your little motto is nothing more than the self-satisfied ramblings of a professional-in-title whose interest in patient care begins and ends with a marketing brochure. read more

I had a great experience going to see Dr. Mokha at the Polyclinic. I went specifically to learn about my food allergies, and he was patient in explaining the testing process, going over the results, and explaining the difference between a food intolerance and a food allergy. He also found a problem that no doctor had told me about before, and prescribed medicine that allowed me to breathe better than I ever have. I was so impressed with the care of their team, and the experience at this office. read more

Terrible experience. Before my visit, I was never told that I had to be off allergy meds for almost 5 days before testing (first time to an allergy doctor, had no clue what I was doing) and spoke to at least 4 people from his office and not one told me any information on what I needed to do before appointment. Got to my appointment, went through meds information, and told him that I'd been off allergy pills for 2 days (just thought this might be a good thing again, no pre-warning) and he shut his records and said abruptly, "Well, we can't do anything today, come back Friday." Well, as many others nowadays, I have a busy schedule and had to make a special arrangement to take time off of work for this appointment, and couldn't just "come back." I explained this and a blood test was done. No follow-up information was given. About three weeks later, I had to call the office to see if anything had come back on my test results. The person who answered the call, when I asked if the results were back, asked me, "Hasn't anyone called you?" Um. No. Or I wouldn't be calling. He said, "Well someone should have called you with the results...I will have someone call you." Later that day got a message from Dr. Avinder, "You results were negative. Will send them" and hung up. No statement of, "let's retest you or anything." My constant sniffling, running nose, and sneezing are not figments of my imagination. Then I called his office to talk to somebody about this terrible treatment and was told, "My office manager will call you back, I don't know what to say because I've never heard anyone complain about him" and do you think I ever heard back? After completing my own research on my symptoms and speaking to my PCP, I decided to seek the expertise of an allergist. I made an urgent appointment to see Dr. Mokha because my breathing was impacted; therefore, I was highly concerned (no hx. of asthma). During my appointment with Dr. Mokha, he appeared amused recounting that I requested an urgent consultation appointment. It appeared that Dr. Mokha had already decided that I was exaggerating my symptoms and that I was a demanding patient. Dr. Mokha asked how I was treating my symptoms at home and I explained. As I was explaining my reasonable home treatment, he chuckled throughout. I was so appalled by his laughter and his dismissive attitude towards my symptoms and concerns that I was literally at a loss for words. I felt my face turn red. I was feeling vulnerable and afraid because of my symptoms, and now I was being mocked. This was not the dynamic of a doctor-patient relationship that I expected. Dr. Mokha would highly benefit from taking professional development courses on interpersonal skills and working with female clients. I found him to be unhelpful and without compassion. I would recommend seeking the expertise of an allergist elsewhere. read more

Dr. Mokha? More like Dr. NO-kha! I was referred by my GP for a general allergy screening/test. Immediately after introducing himself, he proceeded to mock my request for a general allergy test, even laughing at me, saying "the best test for allergies is a reaction." OMG. Insulted and frustrated, there was no way I felt like I could trust this doctor with my personal medical needs. I proceeded to leave the room, as he called after me that I was wasting his time. I have never been treated so inconsiderately or rudely by a medical professional before. More people should be aware of how this doctor interacts with his patients. His office was perfectly content to take my co-pay and bill my insurance, while he had no interest in providing medical services. His staff did basics of their jobs, but no more. After suffering from allergies ever since I can remember, I decided to buck up and see an allergist. A cursory internet search netted me Dr. Mokha's information and profile, and I ended up booking an appointment with him. I was instructed to stop taking my allergy medicine a week in advance, and was emailed pre-visit instructions with further information. When I arrived, the front desk gal was friendly and my appointment started on time. The RN Debra and the woman she was training were both extremely personable and explained everything that was going on, putting me at ease. Dr. Mokha was very professional, friendly, and thorough, making sure to address any concerns I had. The nurses went out of their way to make me comfortable, bringing me magazines while I waited for the allergy poke-y test (technical term there) to be over and checking in to make sure I wasn't dying in the room. Another good point is the building was newer and spotless. I found this to be as pleasant an experience as possible, considering the situation. If you're a new patient, expect the first visit to be scheduled for 2 hours which allows them to do an allergy test if needed. I've been seeing Dr. Mokha for almost 2 years now for severe allergies that have gotten worse over time. He got me on an immunotherapy regimine (allergy shots) that has been my only source of allergen relief ever!! His staff is super nice and responsive- and since you're in there all the time for injections, they get to know you quite well. They're very quick with appointments and almost always have availability for the injections. Dr. Mokha was also fabulous when I had a bad reaction one time that required 911 to be called- he followed up with me that night (around 9pm) and again in the morning, to be sure I was alright. He's very knowledgable on all allergies- but especially food allergies. I always see lots of kids in the office and he keeps a stash of lollipops for them. Great guy- very intelligent- wish he was my primary care doctor. read more

Dr. Mokha is a great doctor. I started seeing him about a year and a half ago when my husband and I nearly got a corgi puppy, only to visit the breeder and find out that I was not just allergic to cats (which I knew about) but also dogs. After postponing the acquisition of a dog, I went in to Dr. Mokha's office and got tested. Yup, there I was, allergic to dog, cat, dust, dust mites, sage, and six kinds of grasses. Dr. Mokha was very honest with me. He explained my chances of contracting allergy-related asthma if I went ahead with my dog plans without any sort of treatment. He also explained that the success rate of the shots varies--I would certainly experience relief, but I might not still be able to have a dog, depending on the circumstances. He explained the pros and cons of the shots as therapy, and noted that he wouldn't even consider starting me in the height of pollen season. (Which is when I had finally decided to move forward.) He explained that the shots are not a cure, but a long term therapy, and that we needed to do a lot of other steps to manage my exposure to allergens. (Things like HEPA air filters in every room, dust mite covers for the beds, getting rid of carpets and drapes where we could, and eliminating surfaces for dust to collect on.) After he had explained all this, and after he'd given me time to think about it, we decided to go forward with the therapy because even if I wasn't able to get a dog, I'd experience a great improvement in my quality of life. So I began the shots. Dr. Mokha's staff (shout outs to Debra, Sean, and Ashley who are the ones I know best) are wonderful and welcoming. They really do their best to make the shots as easy an experience as possible, while safeguarding you from the side effects. They often supply me with icepacks for my arm welts, and make sure that I have access to my inhaler, and that I've taken my anti-histimines, the whole works. They are very professional. They even made sure that I had some prednisone right before my wedding day so my allergy shot welts would die down and not ruin my wedding photos. (I was on weekly shots at the time, and couldn't miss the scheduled shot.) I did have one major reaction back in December. They decided to play it safe and sent me off to the ER for evaluation and further treatment. They reassured me and kept me updated on what this might mean for my future course of treatment. (Fortunately, I was able to continue at a lower maintenance dose.) Anyways, I've been on maintenance since January, and early this spring noticed I didn't have the same heinous bronchitis I get every winter. I also didn't have any major pollen reactions. But best of all, I was able to be around animals again without major reactions. Finally my husband and I decided to take the plunge. We checked out the breeder again, and found an adorable little girl puppy. After several weeks of me stress-testing my lungs, we decided to bring her home. (The breeder knows about my allergies and we have a week to see if she can be with us.) I have been around a dog for the last 48 hours and I can still breathe just fine. I don't have itchy eyes, sniffly nose, wheezing. Things are looking pretty promising, and I've got my fingers crossed that they'll continue that well. Even if they don't, my lungs have improved so much that I can now do things like go play games at the houses of friends with animals without having to go home early. I do have to note in fairness that not everybody's body chemistry is the same. Other people may not experience the same level of improvement, other people may experience more. And some people may not be good candidates for the particular therapy that I've undergone. But so far, my experiences lead me to believe that it is worth seeing if you can undergo this therapy. And I also wholly endorse Dr. Mokha and his staff. Their care and service has been top notch. And I have a pet corgi sleeping in my kitchen RIGHT NOW. Boo-yeah! Take that, allergies! read more

I am a 56-year-old female on Social Security Disability due to hypogammaglobulinemia, of which I was diagnosed in May 2007, severe lifetime allergies, and a myriad of other disorders. I've been receiving IvIg infusion since Jan 2008, and since receiving infusion, I haven't had one case of bronchitis. Prior to receiving infusion, I had chronic bronchitis, sinus infections, wounds that wouldn't heal without strong antibiotic, etc. I moved to Washington State in October and established care with Dr Marlene Peng of Minor & James in Seattle, who's ordered my infusion ever since. However, once I established care with other Minor & James drs, primary care and other specialists, the troubles began...communication mishaps, Rx errors, diagnostic & lab orders never getting where they were supposed to go, sinks in the bathrooms not working (unsanitary), and not receiving test results. Minor & James Marketing Dept claims it wants pts to give feedback, which I did, but then when they do, they resent it. I was communicating with M&J's head doc, Dr James Martin, when suddenly all communication ceased, and they dumped me as a pt, effective July 2nd. But it didn't stop there. Dr Peng slandered me and my FL drs to other providers, and when I tried to establish with Dr Mokha at Polyclinic, he told me she'd stated that she'd never been convinced of my original diagnosis even though she'd communicated with my original immunologist and never expressed doubt of my diagnosis, which is quite clear (she's just trying to cover her butt with Minor & James), then Dr Mokha told me two days later that it was actually another dr who'd repeated to him the inappropriate comment Dr Peng had stated to that dr (changed his story, didn't he?). He argued inappropriately with me about my diagnosis, refused to accept me as an infusion patient, then had another Polyclinic immunologist cancel my appt. Refusing IvIg infusion to a patient with hypogammaglobulinemia is not only murder, inviting antibiotic resistance, but a public health hazard, especially in at-risk populations like mine, as I live in a senior community in Seattle, and if I start getting chronic infections, it puts the entire community at risk. These drs are practicing politics, not medicine. They're "granny killers." They're Teabaggers who've gotten into their heads that treatment should not be available for ALL patients. They're basically committing murder and endangering public health. read more

I'm 60 years young and Dr Mokha is the best allergist I've ever had, we are talking sixty years of allergy doctors. I've been his patient for over a decade and my allergies are now negligible, that is minimal asthma, minimal eczema. Dr Mokha is smart, and always problem solving. I had a huge reaction to a pneumonia shot with a previous doctor. When it came time to repeat this procedure , he decided to do it on a drip, no reaction this time. He is always interested in my overall health and treats my opinion with respect. read more

Dr. Mokha is a SUPER DOCTOR! Both my 9-yr old son and I are Dr. Mokha's patients. I do not have enough words to describe how satisfied we are with his practice and all personnel that works with him. I am treated for both my allergies and asthma. My son has had multiple upper respiratory issues, and had his tonsils and adenoid removed as well as a cyst from one of his maxillary sinuses, and his respiratory issues are almost all gone (an ENT surgeon performed the surgery for my son). Dr. Mokha really commits himself to find solution and a treatment for patient's simptoms, no matter what it takes and how long it takes, because he really cares about his patients. I have a proof of it and I hope that I never lose an opportunity to continue seeing him, since some insurances may not have him on their "preferred list". Prior to becoming Dr. Mokha's patient, I was treated by other doctor at the NW Asthma and Allergy Clinic and was not nearly satisfied as I am with Dr. Mokha.
