That is a pretty big complaint as she loves a moan my lass. Just joking...*Sweating* But yea, the layout was pretty cool and slighty mod-like. The price is way more than I'd ever pay but madam was happy to pay it and give a tip to the 'very nice lady'. All in all a good trip to the stylists. Phew.

I really like Aveda's weirdly earthy, woody fragrances - and their products are more natural than most used in salons, with up to 95% natural ingredients, according to my stylist. Even the colour is up to 99% naturally derived, so it's less damaging to your hair. The staff seem to be proud to work here, and the salon itself is a relaxing environment in which to spend an hour or so. Some of their stylists specialise in hair for weddings, balls or big nights out - and many have worked as stylists on TV and film productions. They also offer little extras such as free fringe trims between cuts, which is great for regulars. Good city centre salon using more natural products than most - and they even offer a 10% student discount with a valid NUS card.

The colour was ok but the cut bore no resemblance to the hairstyle in the book at all, it was a lot shorter than I wanted, very flat on top and just 'hung'! When I said I didn't like it she wanted to backcomb the top to stop it being flat! The manager came over and re-wet the hair and blow dried it but it still wasn't what I had asked for and the cut was dreadful. She could see how unhappy and upset I was but they just kept saying well it's what you asked for. Well it wasn't. I phoned this morning (19th) to see if I could get a refund but the manager was very defensive, she would only agree to refund the cut and blow dry £13.odd I had paid £43 altogether. She told me to go to the salon to pick this up. When I arrived she kept saying that the style was the same as the one in the book. When I challenged her to get the book it was quite clear it was nothing like it, but she tried making other excuses. To get the £13.odd she wanted me to sign a piece of paper to say she was doing it as a good-will gesture only and was not taking any responsibility. When I refused to sign she would not refund anything. She did offer to recut my hair but how could I it was already shorter than I asked for and would you trust them again? Also note they only take cash something they did not tell me when I made the appointment.

This salon is running a SCAM! I WOULD GIVE 0 RATING IF I…read moreCOULD. I wish to warn others that may fall victim of their scam like i did on 24/07/14 It is vey clever how they operate it. I attended this salon as a new customer that had purchased a package of 5 visits for hair and beauty from Salon Evolution Rep named Asha she came to my place of work; I paid in full and signed their terms and conditions. On my second appointed visit to Ocean Boutique at 54 Station Road; first I had a brief consultation with my stylist Lauren; whom I had seen on my first visit 6 weeks ago. This was my Colour Visit which a full head of permanent; shampoo and finish this was included in the price I had already paid. Lauren told me she would have to "lift" my hair (my hair colour before: black) and then apply the dark brown colour I had chosen to go for. Which when finished I couldn't really notice much change in my colour after all that time! Lauren did not inform me that "lifting my hair" would cost £74.00 not at the first visit or at the start of my second visit. What she did tell me was that my next visit would take up to 6 hours; I thought having never had my full hair coloured in a salon before that was probably standard for a full head. I was totally shocked having arrived at the salon at 9.45am and at 4pm when I went to pay for the shampoo; conditioner and moisturiser Lauren had recommended; the owner of the salon James promptly appears at the cash register and demands £173.00 from me. This was NOT INCLUDING the 3 products mentioned above which I was hoping to purchase. I was completely horrified! I told James I have the package and only needed to pay for the 3 bottles of products. He said Lauren would have told you that you'd be charged for the lightening; I explained she hadn't he then called her over and she said "I told you it would be an extra £74.00. Lauren DID NOT once inform me of any additional services that would be charged as extras. If she had I would have declined and kept within my package deal. I checked with the girl at reception on leaving the salon that gave me my appointment at my first visit and was informed the colour was within my package deal. James was defensive and aggressive in his manner by saying he would have to call the police as I was refusing to pay him and that I had signed the terms and conditions; which he kept repeating. He went round the back of the salon to make his phone call He came back after 30 minutes and said he spoke with a Salon Evolution and the person he spoke with agreed with him that I had to pay. He then said to me "if you are refusing to pay then I am calling the police." I said to him I was't refusing to pay; I was misled by his stylist she didn't inform that there would be extra cost. I asked to call Salon Evolution before he made the call to the police to speak with their manager. The call was taken by Louise Wiklund (Salon Evolution Customer Service Manager) She listened to my grievance and at the end said abruptly "this is nothing to do with us" "It's between the salon and you." After coming of the phone; James had gone onto doing another customers hair; I sat for 20 minutes waiting for him, by this time almost 1 and half hours had gone by. In the end I felt sick with anxiety and agreed to pay £86.50 half of £173 on my credit card: money I don't have spare to spend! PLEASE DO NOT FALL INTO THEIR TRAP IT IS A SCAM DON"T BUY THIS PACKAGE WHICH SALON EVOLUTION ARE SELLING.

I'll still put mine up as it's taken from a slightly different angle, and those shutters are really very nice!!! It will be interesting to see how Pebbles fairs now that there is some increased competition on this street in the form of Viva. This salon has a more affordable pricing structure, especially as they have some great introductory offers on at the moment. I would imagine that Pebbles will cope admirably under the increased pressure. They haven't got all of their eggs in one basket and so even if the hairdressing side is mildly affected they have always got the beauty therapies to fall back on. Having said this, I'm not sure how much of a dent Viva will make. This is a popular and friendly salon that seems to have a loyal client base.

Having your hair put up, which is what I had done, was £25 - however, you do need to check before you just wander in because the price is actually a minimum of £25. I assume that if you have more hair it would be more. The prices in general, that I sneaked a peak at, are pretty good - about £25 for a cut and blow dry, They also offer make up services, as well as haircuts for men and children. For me, it was a perfectly good experience but it's a little out of my way, like everything on Whitchurch Road, so I probably won't go back again. I wasn't THAT won over.
