What a fabulous dinner and live music experience! First time here, it was worth the drive from PS to high desert for this gem. Food was even better than expected, such a surprise. Really great experience tonight! Dale was super friendly when we called and made us feel taken care of when we arrived, including seating us in a great spot. The ambiance and music were lovely. The pork chops were phenomenal. We also had the cod and lamb meatballs, which were very good. The caramel pudding dessert (can't remember the exact name) was fantastic. Hands-down the most fun and aesthetic venue in all of Joshua tree. If you end up taking a trip there, I want something a little more on the fancier side, this is the only place I would recommend having dinner. The food is exquisite and they even had a free show next door. But more than that, the owner and all of the staff were incredible, I've never seen such hospitality. We were celebrating a special event and we were upset because we didn't realize everywhere and Joshua tree closes so early and even though their kitchen was also closed, they managed to get us a little something just to celebrate. We came here this past Sunday for dinner. The restaurant is nicely decorated. It's modern and elevated. There is limited parking in front of the restaurant but there's a lot in the back. After we sat down, we were handed record sleeves and inside were the menus. This was a new and different experience for me. I was going to order the Lasagna but was told they were out of it for the night. They were also out of the Pan Seared Salmon and evidently, the Mojave Veggie Burger (overheard the staff member telling the table next to us this). I ended up going with the Mojave Gold Grass-Fed Burger, and my bf ordered the Steak Frites. The food was good. I really enjoyed my burger. The sauce was delicious, and the fries were seasoned very well. I usually like to eat my fries with sauce but these fries could be eaten on their own. As for the overall experience, it was okay. We ordered a total of three dishes - two entrees and one dessert. Our dinner lasted for almost two hours, most of which were spent waiting. It took a while for the staff member to come take our orders, and after we placed our orders, it took some time for the food to come out. The Steak Frites came out wrong; my bf asked to substitute the fries with broccolini but they still gave him fries. They did take it back to the kitchen but it took a while for the dish to come back out afterward. We asked for hot water but that never came out. We also had to ask for ketchup a couple times. When we were given the bill at the end of the night, there was an extra dish that we did not order on it. Of note, the restaurant was mild to moderately busy but definitely not crowded this night. Really super cute restaurant. My friend really enjoyed his burger. It looked cooked perfectly. The french fries were awesome.. I gotta be honest. The veggie burger was pretty not good. It needs a binder to hold it together and make it less mushy. My whole sandwich fell apart and then it kind of tasted sweet and overly dateish And like a big pile of mush. Menu was really nice. Had some more interesting exciting things. I wish I would've ordered the lasagna that I was super going to order but for some reason, I changed my mind for the last minute and and decided on a veggie burger. The Veggie Burger was my least favorite. The consistency is mushy and the burger fell apart as I continued eating it. The Potato Cakes was only about 4-5 bites as an appetizer. We recently bought a house in Joshua Tree and kept hearing nothing but great things about Mojave Gold, so had to make a reso for date night there. The vibe is very cool & sexy music theme. Lots of pros and a few cons to share - Pros: - Super fun and vibey atmosphere. Love the gold and velvet everywhere and a solid nod to the 70s. -Live music! The venue (back of house) is cool and offers a fun after-dinner opportunity -Food is labeled well for allergies and opportunities to try new foods. We loved the chicken entree (absolutely delicious!), the fried celery root (the sunchokes were incredible!), the broccolini side is a must (what is that beautiful topping!?) and the pork chop was cooked to perfection. Cons: -A bit of a struggle with service and food arrival for a large group. Some food came out while others waited for a good 10 min.+ for their plates. -When asking about what happens when you request GF options, the server didn't appear to know how that was handled on the menu -we ended up over ordering [great] food and would have preferred to know ahead of time what would be offered and what wouldn't -The drinks didn't hit like we had hoped. This is one of the best restaurants in the area known as the Morongo Basin, which includes Morongo Valley, Yucca Valley, Joshua Tree & Twentynine Palms. The decor is reminiscent of a 70s disco bar. The menus are all in album sleeves. Those of you born before streaming, we know what I mean. We have tried a lot of dishes here and everything has always been wonderful. We have the pickle plate appetizer, dates, steak frites, lamb meatballs, and cocktails. Would highly recommend this place if you want a really good dining experience. I was skeptical and now I'm sold on this incredible place. A friend and I tried the Saturday Brunch and have already pledged to make it one of our regular rituals. The service is superb, the food a culinary adventure, and everything about the site is upscale. Because I am familiar with the history of the building and shared some of it with the servers, I was given a tour of the entertainment venue. I was delighted to see they had not remodeled the rolling ceiling in the large room where I booked my daughter's wedding reception in 1986. And as for the overall experience, I have eaten in some of the most celebrated restaurants in the world and found none better. Next I'll try the music venue. Got a chance to check out Mojave Gold and while it's apparent that they recently opened and are still working out some kinks it is also clear that they have high expectations for themselves and the food is delicious! We made reservations just in case it was busy so we arrived and were sat right away. Where things could be better is the intensity of the staff. They sort of hang around (and mind you, the place is pretty small so tables and the moving staff are close together) when there's nothing for them to be doing. So that was a little awkward in such a small space. Drinks took a pretty long time to come (compared to other bar style places). But I think this is something they're probably working out. Another ding on the bar was my cocktail (the grapefruit tequila drink) was room temperature at best when it arrived. Almost like there was no nice in the shaker while being mixed. BUT after the ice in the glass melted and it chilled down it was really good. The hot honey and salt rim was a nice touch. On the food... my boyfriend got the steak frites and I got the pork chop. Both were cooked perfectly! My pork chop was SO tender (often an issue at a lot of places) and the steak was also tender and perfectly cooked (ordered medium rare). The fries with the steak frites were delicious! And they looked much better than the thick cut fries that are featured in some of the photos here. The mashed potatoes were seasoned so well and the broccoli was cooked perfectly (still had a good crunch). Overall, despite their bar related challenges and slightly awkward standing staff lol, I'd highly recommend checking it out. Tried the new local spot for dinner on Labor Day weekend. Didn't think they would be so busy on a Friday night but they also had a sold out show. Still my husband and I did get a table after a relatively short wait. Food was excellent. On par with La Copine. Service was friendly and attentive if a little rough in some areas. Still food came out at a good pace. They redid the interior quite nicely from what it was before. Feels upscale and refined without feeling out of place in the desert. Definitely for special occasion dinners or apps and drinks more regularly. Props to the owners for making this what it is. Really hope it gets the support it needs. Met some friends from the Low Desert today (Sunday) for their DJ Brunch. First off, it is absolutely stunning in there. Last time I was in that building was 8 years ago. What a great ambiance and interior design. Super exciting to have finer dining with a beautiful esthetic in the High Desert. It was kinda all leaning towards a wonderful dining experience. Then, I realized there is no DJ for their DJ Brunch. Weird...it's advertised literally on the building. Ok, not the end of the world, moved on from that. I ordered a michelada, which was perfection....and the french toast. Everything on my end was great. My friends on the other side had a different experience. My friend ordered some kind of coffee drink that was supposed to have condensed milk (guessing it was some Vietnamese coffee). He had to send two drinks back because they tasted awful. He asked our server if they had condensed milk, they do not. So why advertise and sell a drink when you don't even have the ingredients to make the drink? It's listed in the product description. Another friend ordered a breakfast sandwich, was told the egg on the sandwich is a fried egg. Sounds delicious. Yeah, no. Came almost as a scramble. When the server literally said it was fried. So hard bread, scrambled egg, bacon. Not the most appetizing sandwich around. So now we get to the bill. They charged us for one of 2 drinks sent back after being as described on the menu. Overcharged for some mocktails. After all was sorted out, everything was charged correctly. Ok, it's not the end of the world. It was just such a weird dining experience. Nobody seemed like they knew what was going on and it was their first day on Earth and thrown in this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon at 1:00 pm. I never really write reviews. But the whole experience here was weird. I'd really love for a business to succeed in this spot. I just really hope they work out their kinks. I am hesitant on ever returning for dining, it's expensive, and it was just such an odd experience, it'll be a while for me personally to return. read more
