As an update to my 2023 appointment for new glasses: I recently had an eye exam at another facility…read moreand was given a new prescription that was supposed to be a minor tweak on my current glasses. I compared the new prescription to my latest prescription and it seemed more like a major change instead of a minor adjustment. Not being an expert, I went ahead and ordered the updated lenses from Rome Eye Care. When they came in and I put them on, the vision in my left eye was good but I could see better out of the right lens without the glasses. I figured I just had to wear them for a while to get used to them. After two weeks of constant wear, my vision was not any better out of the right eye. I returned to Rome Eye care and they read the lenses on their machine and confirmed they matched the prescription I had been given, which I figured they did. They agreed with me that the new prescription was a major change from the lenses I have been wearing since 2023. They said I should go back to the original clinic and have them recheck my eyes. The original office I went to could not give me a repeat exam until June. I let Rome Eye Care know that I wouldn't be back anytime soon so they weren't expecting a quick return. The very next day they called and said that Dr. Reeves said for me to come in and he would re-examine my eyes. A new exam was performed and it was found that the prescription I was given by the other optometrist was over corrected for the left eye and was even a bit stronger than I needed for the right eye. During his evaluation he was able to correct my prescription to give me 20/20 vision. I know this is kind of long, but the people at Rome Eye Care center are really great. Based on how quickly they accommodated the exam and the expert treatment I received, I will probably use them as my primary for eye care.

Dr. Molly Tipton was my technician; she said they were short-staffed that day and she didn't normally do that job, but she was wonderful nonetheless. Dr. Rich McCurdy performed my exam and was very thorough, friendly yet professional. Afterwards, a lovely young woman named Maria helped me pick out some super cute new frames, and even made sure that the frames I picked were fully covered under my insurance! Overall, it was a great experience, and I highly recommend this clinic!

I was WAY due so looked them up and say they changed to self pay but I figured it was worth it. This is no middle of the mall eye doctor and you feel that so I was willing to invest. The red headed assistant that works there is amazing. So fun and chatty and helpful in selecting frames. She legit could sell a blind man sunglasses. They are all so kind to everyone that walked in. The office was in the middle of an upgrade so I'm sure it will soon more appropriately match their energy and vibe. Only con was the time it took to get my frames we were moving from the West Side and they took 3 weeks to arrive so had to come from Woodstock to pick them up. But overall great experience.

The staff on the glasses side even know my daughter and me by name -- that's how long we've been patients here. Unfortunately, my recent experiences have been extremely disappointing. At my last visit with my 3-year-old, I arrived at 9:40 AM and wasn't finished until after 11:30 -- nearly two hours of waiting. I understand that delays can happen, but this level of disorganization, especially when caring for a young child, is unacceptable. When I came back for my own appointment, I waited over 30 minutes in the lobby before even being seen. I always arrive on time or early and schedule the earliest appointments possible to avoid long waits, but that clearly didn't help this time. It's very disheartening, because over the years I've purchased at least five pairs of glasses, two pairs of sunglasses, and two pairs of glasses for my daughter. I even planned to get another pair this month. Sadly, after these last two experiences, I've lost confidence in the practice. My family and I will be taking our business elsewhere, and my mother -- who was planning to start coming here -- has now decided not to. I truly hope the office takes this feedback seriously. Loyal patients deserve better communication, organization, and respect for their time.

So my daughter recommend I take them here to see if they could fix them- so I did! I left them on the condition "we may not be able to fix this" but I knew they would be more successful than me!! So I've gone with my sisters to the eye doctor before when I was younger and vowed I would never go…read moremyself. When my daughters pediatrician suggested that my daughter go, I just told her it would be cool, although I'm nervous to go myself. So made an appointment and we went. This place is fantastic with kids! There is a little play area in the waiting room which helped loosen things up before getting called back. Lindsey called us back and started the exam. Omg love Lindsey, she was amazing with my daughter and actually has me thinking, I can get my eyes checked, hmmm. When Lindsey finished finished Dr. Pesoa came in. He was just as patient and nice. I have vision insurance and a HSA to cover my expenses, so I never pay out of pocket. The cost is broken down for you to understand and make adjustments as needed. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and will work with your budget. Their digital imaging system is always top tech and I love that they don't do the dilation drops.  The changeover to Dr. Carlos Pessoa was smooth and he is just as nice as his predecessor. Their glasses selection is great and if you have your own frames, they can get new lenses for them. I have contacts as well and am picky with how they feel but they worked with me until we found the right type.
