This is a homey mountain, and thats a good thing! If you want gnarly, go up north to Wildcat. But if you just want to carve fresh snow surrounded by gorgeous New England vistas without crazy lift lines, come to Mohawk, especially on a weekday. Its downright serene. The people are wonderful. The mountain is charming. The vertical isn't that high, but it has challenging runs. Plus, its just so easy to ski right back onto the lift (no lines at night and on weekdays!) so you never have to stop skiing. By far, the best bang for your buck in new england. read more

I have to start off with the fact that we have season's passes for Stowe, so we are not easily impressed - the bar is pretty high. I went here last year and it was great. I was in between skis and the kids working in their rental department were UNREAL, awesome, top notch. They engaged the customers and explained exactly what an inexperienced skier would need to know how to make sure their boots fit properly and their dins were set correctly on their bindings. Both myself and my husband were very impressed. AND, all the equipment was pretty, sparkly and new (no disgusting 500 year old rentals here LOL), The lift operators seemed engaging and friendly. The ski school staff seemed to be on top of things, and the kids seemed to be enjoying their lessons. The only thing Mohawk was missing was a nice lodge with a bar/restaurant (not just a cafeteria), but Litchfield is so close by that it really wasn't a big deal as there are tons of great places to stop on the way home. I hope to go back very soon. As I said (even though I don't need to use rentals again except if I forget something) their staff and equipment was really great. I hope it hasn't changed much since last year, unless the change includes a renovated clubhouse and a new restaurant/bar. read more

I love everything about this place. Its never really crowded the lift tickets are great. The groomed runs are excellent for the typical skier that doesn`t expect a lot of jumps and freestyle stuff. If your just learning how to ski this place is great. Now the bad news: You guys really need to orient your ski lessons better,weather they be group and/or,especially the private lessons. We had a lot of friends that wanted to ski with us for the first time and felt that they needed private lessons but could never schedule one on the phone. It seems to me that a 90 dollar an hour lesson would be enough for me to quit my job and come up there and train people one on one myself....and enjoy my job at the same time,sadly this is the biggest problem I have with mohawk read more

I recently went back to Mohawk with my son because he is interested in skiing. It has not changed much since my last visit, which was over 20 yrs ago. They should take some profit from food sales and update the decor. I am giving 3 stars because of the exorbitant food prices. Mohawk you are in Cornwall and not northern New England and shouldn't charge ridiculous food prices! We bought 4 candy bars, a water, and two lemonades for $21. Seriously? Talk about a good profit margin. I strongly suggest bringing your own food. That being said, we did take a lesson and the instructor was very good. The trails were in good shape and and well lit. The TND (The Night Deal) is great for beginners. For $49.00 you get a lift tix, equipment rental, and lesson. Mohawk is a good beginner mountain or someplace to go if you are itching for a quick session. read more

i haven't been to Mohawk in about 7 year but took the kids there for a weekend of skiing. i couldn't have been happier. they have done a bunch of work since i was there expanding the lodge and upgrading the rental and ticket area. the rental and ticket area is as good or better than any Vermont ski area. staff was so helpful to the point there was someone there to help my kids out of their boots after they returned their rental. very organized lines with friendly and attentive staff ready to help you quickly. we tried the new tubing park Saturday night and it was tons of fun under the lights. then Sunday we skied all day (great snow) and had lunch in their mid mountain lodge (so cool!). This the perfect mountain for us in such a beautiful part of the state. so scenic! Ski lift operators were so friendly too and it has a huge patio with fire pit and activities. everyone was so nice we were joking that we thought we were being filmed for a commercial lol. read more

Gets four stars purely for the customer service. I called a week prior to ask about the parent-tot classes and was told that they were indeed scheduled Presidents Day. When I arrived I found out that was not the case. This was kind of a big deal since the main reason I came to Mohawk and stayed overnight was to take this class with my 4yo son. When I brought this up to the manager at the ski school, she couldn't have been more accomodating. Set us up with a private lesson on the spot. No questions asked (I really had no proof of the mix up other than my word). Huge kudos to the Mohawk Ski school for this one. My son had a great time, his first time on the slopes. Word of warning, this was a crowded weekend as it was the first weekend of winter school break. Rental lines looked brutal (I had rented gear ahead of time). Also the lodge/cafe was incredibly crowded. I will return but I'll try to avoid peak weekends. Can't really review the mountain but it seems to be a very family focused business model. Lots of families with small children taking lessons. Also I'd say the ration was 4:1 skiers. read more

Snowhawk lessons are a scam!! My daughter was signed up for class and was ready for Level 4 as she has previously done Level 3 over 3 times. However the staff forced us to sign up for Level 3 again promising that once they do the evaluation will move her to Level 4 if deemed fit so we went ahead. They waist over 30 minutes taking the kids to the magic carpet and testing out of an hour and half class. Even though per the trainer Alex she was ready for Level 4 they held her back on Level 3 as another kid did not want to go. As a result my daughter was stuck in a lower level for NO fault of hers. I went back to the supervisor inside - Heather; and she wasn't willing to hear and did not help sort this out. Overall we have wasted money on this training and I would caution any parent to not fall for this. read more

Mohawk is our home away from home. The whole place is family run and makes you feel part of that family. The people are warm and welcoming. The mountain is small but really well kept up and fun to ski - something for everyone. The instructors are incredible! My child learned to ski at Mohawk and is now involved in their ski program. He has skied on a few different mountains, but there is no place like Mohawk...for both of us. read more

The mountain itself is decent for a quick instate get away. Limited amount of trails but good conditions. After 10+ years of skiing without any prior incidents, it was at Mohawk that my snowboard got stolen. I just happend to be the lucky luck of about a dozen boards that were laid out. I only have myself to blame for not locking it up but after speaking to employees and frequent customers i found out it happens pretty often at Mohawk. You'd figure that they would take action by setting up some traps or atleast clearing the trees around the racks but it doesn't seem like they are that bothered. Anyways, skiiers/boarders be aware!! read more

Not very crowded and so a good place to learn to ski or board. Basically agree with the other reviews; even though they're dated they're still accurate. Only thing to add is that it took about an hour to get rentals, a wait you can partially avoid by signing up for an express rental on their website at least 48 hrs before you want your gear. read more

Limited amount of trails but good conditions (snowmaking helps eliminate poor conditions). The trails are well marked and freshly groomed. Lifts are slow but to be expected at a "mountain" of this size. Overall great place to learn to ski/snowboard. If you're an experienced skier you might be a little bored on the trails. read more

Can not say enough good things about Mohawk. Great feel, great employees, a decent hill for CT, and the 4th grade program is a great deal! I lost a glove insert and they found it for me the next week-could not have been a nicer experience. The lodge is a little dated and they need a no-bags and no-table-saving policy, but it is never a long wait to get up the hill. read more

This is the best ski area in Connecticut no questions asked. Mohawk Mountain is willing to blow snow when ever the temps are below freezing which is awesome. i have never had a bad day skiing here the conditions are always fantastic lift lines are very short and it's also a great family mountain. all the staff are super friendly and very helpful as well. the food here is also fantastic by far the best hamburger i have ever had at a ski area. mohawk mountain is 10x better than ski sundown don't waist your time going there the conditions are usually scratchy and they tend to blow just enough snow to get by they are all in it for the money that's why at mohawk it seems they only care about making sure everyone has a good time and having consistent fantastic conditions. come out to mohawk and see what i'm talking about you will never want to go to another ski area in connecticut after coming here they are a top notch ski area that deserves to have more people find out how epic this place really is read more

We went on two Sundays in a row, 1/29/17 and 2/5/17. The first time, between the lodge and a lift my 7 year old slid down into a big puddle of snow melt. It was coming out of a big pipe, so it's probably always there. Before I could say "Dig in your edges and side step up the hill", he was up to his neck in frigid water. If I'd gone down to him I would have been out of sight of anyone who could see me, so I yelled for help from the lift operator. He was alone and could not leave the lift. Someone approaching the lift came over and pulled my son out of the water. He would have been too heavy for me. I asked the lift operator to call ski patrol, to help us get back to the lodge. I couldn't carry both sets of skiis and my poles and also help him. It took a long time for the patroller to come out of the lodge. He walked over, slowly. That in itself was alarming. My son said "Mommy can we go home now?" and "I don't think I want to go skiing again for a long time." We went again the following Sunday. I had to ensure he had fun and was not afraid. The small hill down to the snowmelt puddle was not fenced off. It is unsafe. If his head had gone under, or if it were a smaller child, there could have been a different outcome. The ski patroller was not very helpful, and did not seem to think it was a big deal. With that attitude toward safety, I can only give one star. The mountain itself was nice for kids, but there was lots of garbage under the lifts. Whoever was drinking the Bud Lights should have had their lift pass pulled. There were probably 20 cans tossed off the lifts in different places. Also it would be nice if they could repair the water fountain, remove the word FUCK from the bathroom wall, and get at least half of the paper tower dispensers working. read more

Awesome mountain. Great place and great staff. The bunny hill is pretty small its really there just to practice slow turning and balance but the one directly to the left has a lift that takes you half way up the mountain that's perfect for beginners or just having fun. read more

I would think twice before I book Mohawk for a wedding! They lie and are no help. My sons wedding reception was there last weekend. They were never told about a major project taking place there when they signed up to have their reception there. You could not go out on back deck and the windows are blocked by a fence. The place is rundown. Can't open windows and no air conditioning. At $1000.00 you only get the use of the room. You have to do all set up - moving tables etc. The lighting sucks, Windows are dirty and the place is dusty. You pay extra to have place cleaned after. The staff is rude and no help. read more

I love snowboarding here. The resort is well maintained and the trails are always groomed with plenty of snow. It isn't the biggest place but not bad for CT when we don't want to travel to VT. My wife's and I's favors CT ski spot. read more

I love this mountain!!! It is a terrific family resort and has an old school feel --I find it to be amazingly friendly and just a great way to spend a winters day outside with the kids....But it's the Ski School that sets this place high in my esteem! my young daughter was a yeti this year ( weekend ski club) and by the end of her instruction was ripping the black diamonds (and ripping them really well!) the instructors are amazing, patient, fun.... My son was snowboarding with a really great guy - he learned a ton of tricks and carves and had a blast!, This was a kid that didn't even want to sign up for snowboarding club ( because he already knew everything;)and he LOVED IT!!!! We've done snow schools up in VT and I have to say, Mohawk snow school blows them out of the water! Seriously. If you have kids. Especially young ones. Go here. all of the lift operators are also great with the young ones which helps a lot with the little learners lift confidence. I think Mohawk is a small mountain with a great vibe, and lots of family fun ( sorry party people-- no Bar) great job Mohawk! Keep it up and well be seeing you next year!! Oh. And ski shop has most things you may need, a very nice selection of clothes, gloves helmets goggles etc.... I bought a lot in there this year! Nice , nice helpful people. read more

Will never ski at Mohawk again. My daughter and friend were charged full price for two lift tickets and one ski rental and were not told that the mountain closed in one hour after purchase. The web site stated that the mountain was open until 10:00 PM. It was not clearly marked that they were closing at 4:00. It would have been very easy for the person selling tickets or the person renting skis to tell my daughter she only had an hour to ski. read more

These guys suck. After skiing there more than 20 days a year for the previous years. Last year we bought season passes. Even though they CLAIM they were open January to March, they were NEVER 100% open and mostly were less than 50%. We asked for a discount towards this year(so far only marginally open) They basically said "stick it". These folks do not understand building customer loyalty. Making us feel better would have cost them zero and we would have continued to promote Mohawk. Now we will recommend other areas and they will not see any of our $$$ in the future. We urge everyone, support the folks who take care of you. Not guys like Mohawk who do not value loyal customers. read more

After 2 really bad experiences I had to write a review. First one- when my daughter was 5 she took snow hawks lessons. She was to little too navigate the chairlift well so I noted that on the form. However since there were other (shorter) kids in her group she was out with 2 bigger kids to ride the chairlift. On one of them she fell down before sitting down so the two other kids got on and left. The lift operator then put her on the next one by herself without putting down the restraining bar. Coincidentally I saw this happen but was many groups behind and couldn't get to the front in time. So while this happened me and most of the other adults in the group were shouting at the lift operator to stop the lift so she could get off or at least put the bar down for her. She was safe as we shouted for her to grab on to the side bar but was petrified the whole way. So I complained. The operator told me if she can't use the chairlift she shouldn't be there (well that's why she was in the ski school). The manager told me Connecticut law is that they cannot help with the bar! The second time was when we (me plus 2 kids) forgot our boots but had everything else--yes dumb move on my part. So we (me with the 2 kids next to me) asked how long it would take to get just boots for us. The person working there looked around and said fairly quick ... Around 15-20 minutes. Well after 4 differnent lines and almost an hr later we finally reached the person who would fit our boots into our skis. He said oh they had to do a " test" to make sure the skis were ok ..but that would be quick. So we went to another line and were told another 40minutes -1hr to do this for our skis. Separately I find out we would have to do the complete adjustment again to get them to fit our original boots! I was furious--so it was an hour to go home and get the boots vs $100 bucks plus 2.5 to 3 hours to rent boots there. When I complained to management I got no apologies, they actually tried to blame me! 1. I don't know what else you were doing for this to take this long. 2. Well the estimate of 20 minutes was correct, I should have multiplied it by 3 people, 3 plus add wait time, 3. Well since they were my boots the person who told me 20 minutes assumed I must have ONLY meant wait time and of course I should have known it would take 20 minutes per person to do the function test and fit adjustment.. Etc. WTF. Clearly management could care less! It's not like I really wanted much. A reprimand for the lift operator so he wouldn't be so careless with little kids... An offer of hot chocolate (or even water and a seat for my little kids would have gone a long way)! read more

First, I want to start off with the facts, Mohawk is a decent small mountain with good staffs and well maintained slopes. However, their management is HORRENDOUS, especially their sales director Trish Morrissey and office manager Heidi (I'm not surprised to find out that I'm not the only one who had issues with Trish after reading some other reviews). Please avoid dealing with those two by all means, they are by far the most unpleasant and disgusting customer service I've ever come across. They will definitely ruin your experience with the mountain. They were extremely unreasonable and rude to me. I participated their Shred program last year but never received my bonus lift tickets as promised. So I went to talk to those two beginning of this year and they refused to give me the tickets as they think I was lying to them. Then I ask them to check with the program director Dave (who doesn't work there anymore) but they never followed up with me. Then I tried to email them and only to find out that they blocked my email address! So I had to use a different email address to contact them. And Trish would literally ignore every email I sent only if I call her and leave a voice mail (she doesn't answer my calls of course), then she would respond to me the next day. And all I got from her was a bunch of crap, she basically plays dumb with me and tries to put the blame on me for not getting the tickets last year. I had enough from them and pursuing legal actions against them, so that they will learn that they cannot just treat their customers however they want, you need to be reasonable to do business! I strongly recommend people to go to other mountains, there are a lot of other good ski areas in CT and MA where they treat customers properly. read more

Do not go on major holidays - was there for President's Day and waited for ski rentals for 2 hours. That's happened to me twice there. Also spent about 30 minutes waiting for food and a table. All that said, the skiing is decent. Terrain is better for skiers than snowboarders. read more

As a Vermont Native, I thought that I found a second home at Mohawk. I had been bringing my kids there to learn how to ski. However, when I brought my Autistic son age 7 up there to learn to ski for an hour one Sat afternoon around 3 when the place was empty, they treated us so poorly that I was truly heartbroken. I called the owner and she screamed at me telling me that she was disgusted that I would use my Son's Autism to try and get a Refund. He was having Sensory issues and would not put the Ski boots on. They Refused to Give us a Refund of any kind. I had driven 1.5 hours to get there and was only in the Lodge for 30 minutes. They basically took my 150.00 for the rentals and tickets and when they saw my son crying and throwing his ski boots across the room, they said that they Never give Refunds. Management told me that I was Pathetic for using my son's diagnosis to get my money back. Really Nasty people. read more

This was the single worst ski school experience that I have ever had. The kid Colin who rang us up to get the lift tickets looked as if he was stoned. He tried to over charge us for the lift tickets. I had to look up the Web site to show him that he had the price wrong. I told him that I had a four year old and a seven year old who needs lessons and they put the I a group lesson. OK sound good right? Get to the lesson and my four year old is put in a group with a thirteen year old and another little girl. The woman who was their instructor spent an hour having them walk around on skis and complaining that my son would no listen. They never even went up the magic carpet. Finally after they moved the older girl up to a more appropriate group I watched as my son lay on the ground as the instructor stood by holding the other girls hand and not helping my son up. Thanks a lot Bernadette. Then I come over and they tell me that it's just not working. Wtf!! So I take him up the magic carpet which he was doing before the lesson and show him how to wedge and in ten minutes he was controlling his speed. I spoke with lathe director of the ski school and he was not helpful either. I just wanted a refund for the lesson that I paid for but never given. This was my four year old first time on skis. After getting the run around about not being able to get a refund they gave us a credit for a private lesson. I highly doubt we will ever go back to the inept ski school. Even the mountain director of guest services would not refund us the money that we paid for the pitiful lesson. Thanks trash morrissy. Way to be a leader. I have been going to mohawk since I was a kid, 35 years, but this turned our family away from this mountain. Do your self a favor a go anywhere else to teach your kids to ski. And to the owners Carol lunar and Steve hidden you have lost a loyal family and I will take ever opportunity to share this Storie with all the other families that I know.
