BACKGROUND: Had my engagement party here with no issues and have a sister who works in the restaurant business Came here with a party of 7 because I had had such a positive experience at my engagement party. Made a reservation 12-12-19 for 12-14-19 and was told by Tori that due to the large party size, needed to place $150 to hold the reservation which would be credited later. Flash forward to night of 12-14-19, we receive the bill for $165.48 and are told we will be credited back. Paid the bill and then was still charged $150 on my credit card. Called the restaurant and was told it sometimes takes 5 business days to reverse. When this did not happen, restaurant told me I had only paid $16. People know the difference between paying $16 vs. $165. Due to it being a cash transaction, I asked the company to review their security footage. Eventually was told that I would need to file a police report in order to view it, which I unfortunately had to do. Police spoke with the company and the owners were supposed to call back. That has not happened. This experience ruined my memories of my engagement party and none of my party will be coming back here. AVOID. read more

"Unfortunately, my experience at this restaurant was very disappointing. We had a reservation for 8 and arrived at 7:57, but were told to wait. I opted to wait at the bar, but no one ever updated us about the status of our table. After asking again, I was told to simply let them know when we were ready. This was frustrating as we had a reservation. Once seated, we waited 10 minutes before I had to ask someone to take our order. Throughout the meal, the wrong dishes were brought to our table multiple times, intended for other guests. Additionally, our dessert sat waiting for 10 minutes before coffee even arrived. As for the food, my $65 steak was underwhelming and not worth the price. The dessert also seemed stale and not freshly made. Overall, I found this to be one of the most overpriced dining experiences I've had in a long time. I won't be returning or recommending this place to anyone." read more

This place is WAY overpriced! The food is just ok (definitely had much better) - not worth the price you pay. The service was good... Waiter seemed knowledgeable about the menu and was friendly, but everything was rushed. I feel like we didn't even get to really enjoy the meal. Most annoying was when the busboy cleared our plates the second we finished our last bites (as if he was stalking us), then the waiter immediately brought over the dessert menus... We didn't even finished chewing! The place wasn't even that packed at 8pm on a Friday, so not sure what the rush was about. The ambiance was not impressive at all - large dining room with tables so close together that we could clearly hear our neighbors' conversation. I don't mind spending a little more if the food is superb and the ambiance spectacular... Will not waste my time and money here again. read more

Perfect day! I wish I could give them more stars!! We had the great pleasure to work with Steve with all the preparation and set-up for our wedding. I couldn't have done it without his help and his excellent local florist and bakery recommendations! I cannot recommend Mohawk House highly enough. Every part of our wedding was incredible, and we genuinely could not be happier. The food was amazing!! All our guests were blown away. This is the perfect example of "getting what you paid for" - Steve has an exquisite taste for fine things and he knows very well what he is doing! Every staff member was extremely helpful and kind. They truly go above and beyond. Giuseppe, Chef Brian...everyone was an absolute joy to work with. Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts. William and Annaleah. read more

My boyfriend asked me for dinner after a tough day and honestly I did not want to go. He insisted that I would not be disappointed so I went along with his persistence. As we drove up to the Mohawk House I was immediately intrigued by the beautiful structure. My boyfriend told me that there was a new chef and he wanted to give him a try as his past experiences were always an A+. Starting with a refreshing cocktail, the Jersey Girl Burrata followed by the mouth watering scallops (OMG) I had a big smile on my face! Mohawk house is charming as well as the staff. The Chef was amazing and the service could not be better A+++++. If you want a smile on your face you have to try the Mohawk house as you will NOT be disappointed! read more

My wife and a party of 7 seven people went to Mohawk house in December 2019. A 150$ deposit was needed for the reservation in case of cancellation. The waitress also told us that the card would be credited back. The bill was paid in full in cash, but we later found a charge for 150$ on the card. When we called to straighten out the issue we were dodged by management for several weeks. When we finally spoke to management we were met with hostility and called liars and thieves who were too poor to pay our bill. They stated if we wanted to go any further to go to the police! This was a horrendous experience and the establishment is run and operated by liars and thieves. Avoid at all cost to avoid being robbed yourself. read more

I don't know what happened to this place. My family and I have been coming to Mohawk house for years..My last 2 visits were very disappointing. The food was average to say the least. The service was nothing but horrific..The girl seemed so disinterested and also gave us quite the attitude. We got our soup served. And waited 5 minutes to get spoons.not to mention she never came back over with the drinks we ordered.when we asked her were our drinks were .she said sorry the bar is backed up..It happens..Anyway this place is heading down hill fast..And definitely my last time there..Satff is rude. with attitudes and over priced food... read more

If you are a foodie and enjoy the finer things in life this is the place for you! The cuisine is steakhouse style with quality Pat LaFrieda meats and farm fresh sides to go with it. Mohawk House defines farm to table, they even have a page in the menu listing all of farms they work with as well as their own farm. The staff is educated and warm and the decor is absolutely beautiful. It is so hard to find a quality restaurant in Sussex County that offers an experience like Porterhouse in the city. I can't wait to go back! read more

My husband and I had the pleasure of celebrating Mother's Day at Mohawk House and wow were we blown away! From the complementary valet, to the knowledgeable server, but more importantly the spectacular food. My ribeye was richly flavored and cooked to perfection and my husbands sea bass was so fresh it tasted like it came right off the boat! Not to mention the building is absolutely stunning. I felt like we were dining in a rustic steakhouse in the city. Mohawk House truly exceeds expectations. We can't wait to go back! read more

My favorite craft beer bar in the entire state of NJ. I have been all over the place, north..south..east..west.. you name it, this is by far my favorite place. Always a great selection on tap, with a nice small bottle selection as well. The staff is super friendly and very knowledgable on beer. The food is also great from bar food to a nice causal dinner. They also have a great happy hour deal every day 2-6pm with $2 off all draft beers and $5 apps. If you are in the area you must check this place out! read more

Came here for Easter today and right away the beautiful ambiance hit me. Impeccable service and great variety of entrees on the menu with farm fresh ingredients. They truly do bring New York City to the country. I was also informed that they serve the famous Pat LaFrieda meats and that Pat LaFrieda and his family will be having dinner here tonight- a true testament to the quality of this establishment! This will be me and my family's go-to place for years to come! read more

Went to the Mohawk House for the first time Saturday night. Popular band in the house and the bar was jam packed, 2 deep much of the night, 3 bartenders and a bar back. Never waited more than 5-6 minutes for drinks and this isn't just a beer and shot place! Lots of cocktails going out and no matter how difficult or demanding the customer the staff always had a smile on their face!!! Kudos to the pros behind the bar!!! read more

My granddaughter just celebrated her 25th birthday and the whole family joined in to wish her well. We came to Mohawk House to celebrate. The food and ambience were fantastic! Everyone was impressed by the live music and in general with the beautiful restaurant. We will return for regular dinners. Love the place. The staff is friendly and professional. I got a snobby feeling when we went there. Just because I wasn't 50-something and didn't arrive in a Mercedes, I felt like even the bussers were looking down at us. The prices are outrageous in this place! And the portions are very small for the amount of money you'll have to leave at the end of your dinner. The whole atmosphere is stuffy and snobby, not very relaxing. And expensive, very expensive. read more

Mohawk House is a wonderful restaurant on all levels. The food is delectable and prepared exactly to order. The staff is worthy of praise. They are totally familiar with the menu and eager to please. The wine selection is varied. Desserts are decadent. As you can see, I love it. When I'm up this way, Mohawk House comes to mind. I recommend it. read more

I thought this place was really cool and beautiful exterior and even nicer interior. Almost gives off a log cabiny feel and the food/beer/service was outstanding. Their selection is top-notch and is definitely one of the best I've seen. Johnny was our bartender and he was very conscientious and provided us great hospitality. We'll be back! read more

We had an exceptional dining experience at the Mohawk House. Casey was our server. We didn't have to wait for drinks and her recommendations were awesome. The food was really good and didn't all come out at once. The friendliest and most efficient service Weve ever had there. We will definitely be back again and asking for her. read more
