I was early and the stylist was late. She told me I didn't need a full foil, so we did a partial foil instead. Unfortunately it didn't come out well. First, the whole foiled section is much lighter than the back/bottom portion of my hair (so really I did need a full foil and should've pushed back on that?). I have never had such a stark contrast between the foiled and unfoiled portions... it looks pretty bad when my hair is up, and as a mom, that is basically all the time. Second, some of the highlights themselves are uneven, being super bright (almost white) closest to my roots in a few spots. Never had this happen before, either. I tried to schedule a correction, but they said I would have to pay to get the bottom foiled as that wouldn't count as a correction. Fair enough per the technical definition... but my hair just doesn't look good overall and that would be the only clear fix from my perspective, since you can't darken bleached hair. Oh well. That was a huge expense. I definitely will not return. Haircut was fine! Though they did also blow it out some after I specifically said I didn't want it (for my schedule and for sensory reasons).

Luckily, we found Marina and she gave us the most perfect, relaxing day. Everyone in the bridal party wanted a different look (glam, 1920s, classic, etc.) and the bride wanted to go very natural. Marina was so accommodating to what everyone was looking for and made us all feel beautiful. She spent the entire day with us and helped us plan out the schedule so that everything went exactly as planned and on time. I've been a blonde my whole life but its started to darken as I've gotten farther into my 20's. When I read Marina's reviews she sounded almost too good to be true. I called and left her a message about what I needed and what kind of hair I had and she called back within the hour. Not only was she extremely kind over the phone but she really seemed to understand what I needed and I set up an appointment with her as soon as possible. About a week later she was in my kitchen drinking coffee and doing my hair. It was like having a cool older sister I never knew existed! We chatted and laughed the entire time she was coloring my hair. When it was time to wash my color out she brought me over to the sink. I was surprised that a stylist could really put that much time and compassion into something as simple as washing my hair. If you ask him, he will explain to you how he fashioned his work stations....they are very refined! Many of his design elements are not only personal to him, but they are true to the overall mid-century modern era he is replicating.
