The food was good. I wanted to turn my truck around and go back for more. Nice friendly staff. The last up front was very helpful with the menu.

One of my favorite places in northern Alabama. Great tasty pork and turkey, smoked well and certainly pulled. Moist, a sauce that complements, not overwhelms. Consistent too. Always great bbq--and served on top quality, lightly toasted buns. A sign of the quality of this place. It can be a bit hard to find--but it's right behind the Pilot truck stop. The sides are creative and excellent. Today it was red beans and rice then black eyed peas--smoked sausage in both for a good surprise.

Wings with collards, stewed okra & cornbread

We have visited this establishment in the past and loved it. That was three years ago. Not as impressed this go round. It was all good but not the same. The potato salad had ALOT of celery and peppers in it. The wings & ribs were seasoned great and cooked and smoked perfectly. The stewed okra was nothing special tasted like they were dumped out of a can. Collard greens were unimpressive. Baked beans were too spicy for our liking. Banana pudding was good but had no banana and had cinnamon, good but not what we are used too.

My friends and I were visiting from out of town. We walked into Moe's and immediately felt welcomed. The staff was kind and patient. We have come back multiple times during our trip. The food was all cooked in house and authentic bbq. I could not recommend this place more. It's definitely worth a stop!

Food is good. Service is subpar. I despise when you pay with a card and you are prompted to pay a tip before you even get seated or see if the service is okay. I wasted 20% here. They don't move from behind the counter. And we were the only customers at 2:30 in the afternoon, so no excuse for being worthless. What the heck is the tip for??? Won't be back here.

Pork plate

Pork platter with baked beans, mac&cheese, cornbread. Pork was meh, mac&cheese was terrible - very dry & room temperature - had obviously been sitting awhile, maybe since yesterday. Definitely will not be back.

Rib platter (large) and a slice of turkey Mac n cheese Cornbread

I had the rib platter ! It was good ribs were tender fall off bone! The cornbread was excellent! The Mac n cheese was dry and very oily ! I don't think they put any cheese in it ! Personally now that I know I wouldn't order that again! I was disappointed that they didn't have a platter with all the meats on it or an option to get at least 2 meats! They don't have sausage or brisket!!! They only offer 1 bbq sauce! The staff are mostly young kids! That say huh or what a lot when you are trying to order. Honestly it's like talking to a 5 yr old with a short attention span! You have to keep repeating yourself over and over. The place was not crowded for a Friday night. The 2 stars are really for the staff and the lack of meat and platter options ! Very disappointing on that front! The Sweet tea was excellent yes there is turkey in the picture also which had to purchase completely separate!

Pork sandwich Alabama style, max and cheese and boudin balls

My friends and I came down for rock the south and stayed right by Moes. We have gone every day we have been here for a meal because the staff is SO friendly and welcoming and the food is authentic southern bbq. I recommend to anyone passing thru or staying to come here.

Good food. The side dishes are creative and tasty. The ribs are always good unless they run out. And their smoked wings are great!

Food was "meh", service was atrocious, and the cleanliness (or lack there of) should be reported.

My mom and I visited Minnie Lee's yesterday to give them a try while we were in Decatur. It's…read moreyummy - a good option for soul food! This restaurant is across the street from the fairly popular Francesco's Italian restaurant. Having been there before, I didn't have any troubles locating this place. The parking lot is a little rugged in spots but at least there's plenty of space. The inside is a little sparse but there's ample seating and some kind of cool drawings hanging on the walls. A portrait of who I can only assume to be Minnie Lee is near the entrance. Food is served cafeteria style by some very nice people. Seriously, the service was so warm and sweet. We felt very welcomed there. We both decided on fried chicken for lunch. My mom got the last breast from the batch so I wound up with a thigh, which isn't my favorite piece but I still like it okay. You can have more than two sides if you wish, but we didn't. I chose yams and fried potatoes as mine, while my mom got yams and cabbage. Note that their cabbage is cooked with sausage. For bread, they offered standard cornbread muffins or hot water cornbread, which the friendly staff recommended (good choice!). We both opted for sweet tea to drink. I'm not sure of the price because of course my mom snuck in and paid for both of our meals before I could notice! Lol. We found a clean booth and dug in quickly. Overall, the food was pretty good! This isn't necessarily a new favorite soul food place for me, but I'd definitely come back. The best item was honestly the cabbage! My mom let me taste a bite. So flavorful and perfect texture. This is real, southern-style cabbage (which is to say, probably not great for you...but quite tasty!). The hot water cornbread was also really good. It's different than the hot water cornbread I've had in the past; this version was very crispy on the outside with super soft, almost gooey, corny inside. It was yummy. The yams were also solid! Not the best I've ever had (flavor kind of one-note), but they were sweet and soft. The fried potatoes and fried chicken were both just okay. The fried potatoes weren't super hot or crispy, but the added flavor from the onions was nice. The fried chicken's breading was crispy and flavorful enough, but the meat, even on the thigh, was a bit dry. Neither were bad, but if I return in the future, I'd probably try something else first. We were too full for dessert, but they had pecan pie and banana pudding on display. Overall, lovely service and tasty food make this a solid option in the area.

I stopped by with a colleague on a recent business trip and missed the part of the sign above the…read morerestaurant where it shows the word "brick" so I had to drive around the block a 2nd time to even locate the place. It was fairly full on a Tuesday for lunch so we had to sit by the front door. The menu is fairly simple and includes specialty sandwiches, salads and soups, a couple desserts and not much else. For as large as this space is, you would think they would serve more food items. Maybe their kitchen is just very small, not sure. The server indicated many of their sandwiches are steamed. I tried one of their sandwiches, the casa grande without olives, with a side (potato salad) and a homemade banana pudding. Sandwich - this is a pretty good sandwich that is moist due to the steaming and a lot of mustard and mayo. They also forgot to take off the olives though. Potato salad - their version is like a German potato salad with some skin showing and plenty of mustard as the base. The problem was it was too chunky with a chunk of potato the size of my fist. This is just too big to bite. Banana pudding - pretty good but very sweet My colleague's sandwich was decent too, but he also had a problem with some soggy bread. The service was decent as both our soft drinks were refilled promptly. Mondays amd Tuesdays are semi slow and they close at 3; however, other days are much busier with live music mostly on Fridays and occasional Saturdays.

The whole vibe of the place is very laid back and there was even a live musician playing. It wasn't terribly busy since it was during a holiday weekend -- I'm sure on a regular night it's a lot more active. It definitely seems to be a popular spot in downtown Decatur though. Great to go with a group for a casual night or just with a friend or significant other. Will for sure come to Brick again next time I'm in Decatur :)
