We recently moved from our Connecticut home of 39 years to Plymouth, Ma to be close to our children…read moreand grandchildren, living in Duxbury and West Falmouth. We downsize our home to one level from a five bedroom colonial in Connecticut, so we knew we wanted to finish off our basement @ 1,000 sq ft. for a play area for our six grandchildren. Unlike Connecticut, where we had a personal finish Carpenter that would do all our work. We had to search out to find someone that we felt comfortable with and did outstanding work Our son had finished off a mudroom at his house in Duxbury and the team from Cranland Carpentry, Inc did the work. The quality workmanship was outstanding, and they built a custom seat with shelves underneath. I wasn't sure if they would finish off a basement in Plymouth, but I asked them if they would be interested, and if so provide a quote. The quote was very competitive with the three other companies that I asked to quote. I hired Cranland Carpentry Inc. to handle the finish carpentry for my basement remodel. They helped with all the design work and did all the building permits. They made my life a lot easier, and the results are honestly transformative. Bringing a vision for a basement to life requires a specific eye for detail, and the craftsmanship delivered here was top-tier. The trim work, doors, closet and molding are outstanding. We had a few awkward structural columns and they designed custom casings and built-in shelves in another area. * Professionalism: Beyond the woodworking skills, the job site was kept remarkably clean. For a project of this scale, I appreciated the clear communication regarding timelines and material choices. Cranland Carpentry team were always the same guys, very professional, courteous and a pleasant to have in our home. This is something very hard to measure, but I think it's very important to most people. You want people in your home that you can trust. If you are looking for a carpenter who treats finish work like an art form rather than just a checklist, I cannot recommend Cranland highly enough. Our basement finally feels like a cohesive, high-end part of our home. Thanks and good luck with your project. Ed & Sue G Plymouth, Massachusetts

I would strongly caution anyone considering hiring this contractor…read more We hired him for an attached 2 car garage addition and ADU. We are a year into what should have been a 6-month project. Since receiving the final milestone payment, we have had months of frustration due to a complete lack of communication, missed deadlines, and subquality workmanship. There were extended periods--sometimes weeks at a time--when no work was being performed, and no proactive communication was provided regarding delays or next steps. The quality of work completed by several subcontractors was disappointing and frequently required correction. We were left to supervise the subcontractors and check the quality of work, Jake was rarely if ever on site. We were often left to clean up after the subcontractors left a mess and/or broke things during their work. When legitimate concerns were raised about workmanship, instead of addressing the issues professionally, Jake became defensive, dismissive, and at times openly hostile. Rather than taking responsibility for deficiencies, he frequently attempted to shift blame, minimize concerns, or suggest that the problems being identified were not real issues. The experience felt more like being gaslit than having concerns addressed by a professional. Customer service was virtually nonexistent throughout the project. Phone calls and messages often went unanswered or flippant excuses "it's been a busy/hectic week". I was left constantly chasing updates and seeking explanations for delays that should have been communicated proactively. A contractor's value is measured not only by the finished product but also by professionalism, accountability, communication, and respect for the customer. Unfortunately, this contractor failed on all counts. The combination of poor workmanship, chronic delays, lack of communication, and hostile responses to reasonable questions made this one of the worst experiences I have had with a home improvement professional. We are a year into a project that should've taken 6 months I would not hire this contractor again and cannot recommend him to others.

Extremely Disappointing & Maddening Experience…read more We have been working with Drohan Development for over a year on a major addition and renovation project, and unfortunately, the experience has been nothing short of frustrating. Despite the scale and significance of this project, the company has consistently fallen short in several critical areas. 1. Quality of Work The quality of workmanship in many areas has been unacceptable. We've encountered numerous issues that have required constant follow-up and rework. This has significantly delayed progress and project completion and left us questioning the overall integrity of their work. 2. Delays and Missed Deadlines Timelines provided by the contractor have been repeatedly missed without explanation or accountability. They use words like "we hope" or "we are trying" or "we are waiting to hear" and then no word on when a sub is showing up and when they do, we are supervising them vs them which is maddening. What should have been a straightforward renovation has dragged on far longer than expected, causing stress, unexpected time needed on our part and additional expenses. 3. Poor Communication and Responsiveness One of the most frustrating aspects of working with this company has been the lack of communication. Repeated calls, emails, and messages often go unanswered for days or even weeks. Gaslighting at its finest. When we do get a response, it is often vague or dismissive followed by continued silence leaving us with more questions than answers. 4. Lack of Overall Customer Service We expected a professional and customer-focused experience, especially given the significant cost of this project. Instead, we've encountered indifference and, at times, outright hostility when raising concerns. They have taken no responsibility or accountability for their own actions and that of their subcontractors. Is a matter of fact we have served as the onsite project manager with no one from Drohan supervising their contractors, or ensuring work was done and completed correctly and that continues to this day since our project still isn't done. 5. Unmet Expectations Overall, Drohan has failed to deliver on their promises. A project that was promised in 6-8 months has dragged on now for more than a year and their silence is deafening. We had high hopes for this renovation, but the repeated setbacks and ongoing issues have turned it into a nightmare. Recommendation We cannot in good conscience recommend Drohan Development for any home renovation or construction project. If you value quality work, clear and consistent communication, accountability when things don't go right and timely delivery, save yourself and look elsewhere.

Baron Home Improvements came in the middle price-wise, but my experience with Brett and his team made it worth it and not just going with the "bargain basement" contractors. Brett was incredible about communicating with me in advance of, during, and after the job. He explained everything, was upfront about how to cut costs when possible and also offered advice (without any pressure) on where I should not skimp. He was honest, knowledgeable, fair, and really cared about the job. Even after, when I had a question, he stopped by the next day to talk with me and added an extra bit of protection in an area I was (admittedly, probably overly) worried about.
