They worked very hard many hours switching everything back out and then they put the pioneer stereo in which is not quite as good.... My steering wheel controls still doesn't work quite right but I got to say these guys work their butt off... And did everything they could in their power to try to make it right... Worst service ever they did not do what they said. Paid over $600 and no stereo was installed just gave me the run around. Was told it would take 4 hrs and they took 16 hrs and accomplished nothing. I couldn't even get a refund but they made me pay up front before they would set an appointment. Also they were very pushy trying to sell you their product. Owner got very angry when asking for my refund and refused it yelling at me. They are just nice to you until you pay them. Also their warranty service is unexceptional. September 6, 2024 I took my 2010 Dodge Challenger to Modesto car toys was told my fuse probably was blown by the owner Jose then he told me the radio was fried. Then his guy in the shop wanted to buy the face off of my fried pioneer. I'm like why would you want to buy face off of a fried radio ?I took my stereo to another shop on McHenry they told me nothing was wrong with my radio. I paid them $183 to reinstall my radio and take the inferior radio back to Modesto car toy . Nice workers, but VERY POOR service done by CAR TOYS Modesto. I went in to have an aftermarket stereo and back up camera installed (which was overpriced). This shop has been here for as long as I can remember so I assumed they would do good work. That was not the case. Here's a few problems I experienced with this shop... 1. When removing and installing the new stereo face, the workers damaged my dash in several places. Now it's all I see when I get in my car and I'll have to get this new problem fixed elsewhere. 2. I also was NOT told that after the stereo install, the factory info screen would no longer be useful (now I do not have access to my AC, Heater and mileage information). It just sits there as a blank blue screen. Although I've done my own research and I know for a fact there are ways to fix this issue, the shop simply said they "couldn't" do it. I know this means they're being lazy and "don't want to" do it. 3. After installation, the AC/Heater controller buttons on either side of the stereo face were not properly put back in place. The workers left them all out of whack. You'd think they'd be able to see how bad they did with their own eyes! Even though they wouldn't help with anything else, I at least got them to fix my buttons. I told the Car Toys sales rep if I had known that my factory screen would no longer work (even though it can), that the garage workers would damage my vehicle and that they would do such a poor job with reinstalling my factory buttons, I would NOT have had work done at this shop. Not to mention that this place charges way too much money for such poor work. I'm very disappointed. DO NOT go to Car Toys! Car Toys, I would like to know how you're going to fix this. What can you do to make this right? I'd appreciate either the manager call me to issue a refund, pay to have the damaged panels fixed or at least have my factory screen working again. This place just might have the worst customer service I've ever seen - and I've seen some really bad customer service. I called them to ask, basically, only 2 important questions - about the price for installing a certain stereo and whether they would have time to install it in my car, that same day. During the first phone call, the guy suddenly started talking over me, rambling some generic salesperson sentences and abruptly hung up on me. I gave them a 2nd chance by calling twice more, only to hear a "busy signal." It seemed, by the noises I heard on these calls, that they had simply picked up the phone and left it off of the hook, in order to get me to stop calling, but I didn't want to jump to the conclusion that it was "personal," so I gave them the benefit of the doubt by calling from a different phone number. Without hesitation, they answered this call. On this 4th call, I explained that one of them had hung up on me and I TRIED to explain that I was trying to ask whether they had time to install my stereo that day. Instead of letting me finish my statement, one of them referred to me as "bro," in an irritated tone, and came just short of explaining that his interest in my business was in direct proportion to how much money I was going to spend. Then, he made a point of telling me that there were "plenty of other shops" around that I could go to. To make matters worse, after 4 phone calls, they still hadn't answered my question! Don't ever do business with them, unless you like your purchase and yourself to be immediately insulted and definitely don't let them know that you are on a budget, unless you like people to remind you of just how poor you are, at any given moment. I called around and fairly easily found the same or similar deal on a stereo and its installation at a shop where the owner actually appreciated my business. (I don't want this review to seemed biased, so I won't mention the name of the other shop, here. Just know that you're better off going with just about any other shop, even if you were to choose one at random.) I plan to share my experience with everyone I know on Facebook, as well. read more

Outcome was better than expected and I will be back. I am surprised to see so many negative reviews. This place is a total scam. I was charged way more than agreed upon. The guy never informed me that there was a credit card fee and on top of that they taxed labor installation which is illegal. He literary folded my receipt in three and wedge it between business card and invoice and stapled it 2x so I wouldn't see what he charged me. When I got home and removed the staples i was shocked with the charge. I called him on the phone and he wanted to give me store credit but then he said do whatever you want and hung up. I'm currently contesting the charge through my credit card company. If I don't get this fixed I'll be filing a complaint with the better business bureau and possibly even the IRS for fraud. read more

I was in this store yesterday because I was in town to get some audio installed and didn't have everything I wanted. I bought a stinger battery that the salesman told me was usually 399.99 on sale for 299.99. my total bill was about 400$ when I asked if I could put it on two cards he hassled me about that. Then an hour later I returned to get a couple more items totaling about 50 bucks he told me I could NOT use a credit card on this purchase. I had to pay with cash or debit. This morning I went to a local shop here in Merced because I wanted to price check some other things and just happened to ask how much they charge for the battery I just bought and was told 179.99$ I paid 120.00 more at car toys. So I looked on car toys website and they have a low price guarantee price matching ANY AUTHORIZED retailer. so I call to see what we can do about this situation. This same salesman answers the phone and doesn't listen to anything I have to say except to tell me he doesn't price match that store. (The store I found it for cheaper is an authorized stinger retailer) And kept going back to telling me he won't price match online no matter how many times I told him it was a brick and mortar store. Will act all nice tell u to have a seat in the waiting area will keep u nice and cozy, put on a movie for u. Half way into the movie here comes the hustler.... "Your car requires additional work, I wanna help you out we can meet in between usually we will charge $200 more for the work but I'll help you out I'll just charge u an extra $100." So I took the offer of $100 if really more work needed, no one works for free totally understandable. One of my friends recommended this place and I figured why not because they've been in business for a long time and MUST know what they are doing! I can assure you they are great on EVERY level. Came in late Tuesday to pick out a setup, could tell sales guy didn't only care about the money and was genuinely trying to make me happy. Told him my budget and he gave me two options one slightly lower then my budget and one slight above my budget. He took the time to walk around with me and describe all of the different feature of each package. Ended up going with the more expensive option after discussing with him that I was looking to SLAPPP and he assured me my car would be shaking! Little did I know this was only the beginning. Best part of it all, although busy they were able to give me a appointment the very next day! dropped off in the morning was told it'll be done by the end of the day, I was siting down eating my lunch around 12 and I received a call from Carlos that it was already ready. When I picked up the car, Carlos took the time to go over my system with me and describe how I was supposed to break my system in over the first couple weeks. Was bumping my system on the way to work the next day and it cut out in the middle of a song, I called and was greeted by the owner Izaak (Greatest Dude Ever) he assured me everything was ok and to just bring it in as soon as I got off and they would fix it. Upon inspecting the system they found out the amp was on but something inside took a crap. When swapping out the amp we were meet with the problem of them being out of stock. Izaak approached me and immediately apologized and offered me a loaner until the amp had arrived! I could tell he was uneasy about it, a couple minutes later he approached me again and offered to UPGRADE the amp for free when normally its $100 more then the other one, if i wanted.
