100% do not recommend this clinic. They seem to have gotten a little too big for their britches and forgotten the root of patient care. I have received multiple messages threatening to cancel my appointment if I didn't get my labs turned in before my appointment. I imagine part of the problem is I get my labs done elsewhere so they aren't getting side money from them. I finally called them out and said please refrain from threatening me - I am paying for my providers time and perhaps I may want to talk to my provider first before doing those labs. Got another message an hour later defending such threatening behavior and gloating over their wait list to which I didn't respond and just uploaded my labs though I did consider just cancelling the appointment but figured they'd charge me for it anyway so decided to use them one last time. A couple hours later - appointment cancelled. CLEARLY we have forgotten about treating the patient and not the numbers. Clearly we don't care about talking with a patient about their concerns - you can fully expect it is my way or the highway from this clinic. Or maybe they feel too incompetent to have the numbers last minute and need 2 days to plug them into the algorithm first so they have the answers going into the appointment? I can't think of any other reason they would need the numbers 2 days in advance. Most legit clinics won't even order labs til after the appointment - how else do you know what to order?!?! What if there is a specific symptom you need a specific lab for? Perhaps all the labs aren't really needed? Too bad - you're a number at Modern Thyroid and not a person. You're paying for the full panel whether you need it or not. Not sure but I will look forward to taking my business elsewhere to the MULTITUDE of other online HRT clinics that can be found simply by Googling 'Online HRT Clinic near me' and actually have a new appointment tomorrow with my new clinic. read more

Be concerned you don't see any negative reviews. They are a scam. I saw one doctor and she just read a script drew a graph didn't customize it to my labs. Didn't even review my labs or address results that were low or extremely high. Automatically put me in levo which every post here and on TikTok say they don't like and don't prescribe because it doesn't work. Asked her to changed to armour and had to reason with her for that ???? Isn't the point of this clinic that they one find the root problem but 2 prescribe medicine that works? Every other post is about how levo doesn't work as good as armour but my first visit she jumps to giving me levo ? Again never addressed my other blood test results until I went through and asked her what she thought. Prescribed me thyroid medicine and now got a second and third opinion and I don't need thyroid medicine ??? Unfortunately my experience with McCall was not good. I will start with the positive. She listens, she is professional, and very caring. I was a little deceived to think she was a functional doctor. A Naturopath is different from a functional doctor. I spent $1,425 and 9 months and she was never able to level out my thyroid. I left with high T3, High Reverse T3. I just never got better or felt even remotely good while seeing McCall. Thankfully I found a functional doctor who has been able to level out my thyroid after 3 years of having it removed. read more

While they may be very caring providers, this cash-only thyroid clinic lacks one essential ingredient - an actual endocrinologist! It is false advertising to claim they have an endocrinologist. The providers are physician assistants and a nurses practitioner whose supervising physicians are a psychiatrist and a family practice physician. Endocrinology is specialized medical training consisting or 3 years or residency and 2 years or fellowship after 4 years or medical school. None or these providers have done that training. read more

I've been seeing Melody Volz, NP since before she landed at Modern Thyroid Clinic. The clinic where I originally met her said she was a thyroid specialist and she really is. Although it does take time to get your thyroid balanced, Melody has stuck with me through different levels of healing and metabolic stresses. I've been hypo now for 35 years and started with Melody about three years ago. Most recently, Melody tried to get under why my hair was still falling out when my labs looked good except for ferritin stores. I have grappled with hair loss in years previous, but it would go away when my thyroid balanced and now it's not, so I was really stumped. Melody's remedy was to send me to an oncologist who does iron infusions. After two infusions, I was overtopped but eventually came down within normal range, which shows that I can hang onto iron now, meaning my ferritin anemia was not permanent. I have more energy now too, even with Covid everywhere. I prefer a doc who is less insulated from patients, one who allows email and telehealth meetings. My experience was as follows: I asked McCall about the suggestion of using only one of two types of medication as opposed to the other, or a combination. My labs showed me low in areas that the one type of med might, or might not, address. She did not agree. I respect that. But when asked what her reasoning was, I was subsequently terminated from further care. At the time, I did not live in Austin, and flew in for the appointment that otherwise went well. It was my subsequent appountment question that instigated a message from McCall that she did not want to treat me. I do not suggest that this is standard practice for this facility, especially considering the particularly consistent and profoundly glowing reviews herein, but my experience was unfortunately, not the same. To be terminated as patient without notice nor reason, left me in a frightening and medically compromised position. Irredeemable. read more
