Fast forward a few months ago, I did a pre consultation for a different procedure. I decided not to move forward because they would only do a package of 3 and I only wanted one to start. Ok no big deal. I booked an appointment for another CoolPeel. They would NOT credit me the $200 consultation fee for the procedure I didn't want to do. That is kind of bad business and punishing your clients. Not too happy and it's hard for me to recommend SkinScience based on this. Edited- The Doctor reached out to me personally and apologized for the error and made things right. Now I can absolutely recommend SkinScience!

This appointment was my very first at…read moreSpavia but I get massages regularly at other establishments in the Walnut Creek/Lafayette area. After reading a bunch of reviews both on Yelp and Google, they seemed all over the place. It's a good thing I chose to ignore some of the feedback and gave Spavia a chance. Booking the appointment was really seamless. The front desk was friendly and helpful in providing information as well as suggesting some massage therapists who could be a good fit. I made a point to fill all my necessary forms ahead of time then ensured I arrived 15 minutes before my appointment (as they instruct) to get situated before my massage. The facilities at Spavia were nice, relaxing, and clean. They even provide neck warmers for you to put on in the waiting room before your treatment which was such a nice touch. The massage itself was amazing. Before my treatment started Muammer went through all of the requests from the intake form to ensure he understood my preferences. Throughout my massage he did check-ins for pressure and gave me a heads of on what he would work on next which made me feel super comfortable. I do a lot of traditional weight training and my muscle really need to be worked on. To say that Muammer kicked my behind in the best possible way is an understatement. His massage technique and pressure was on-point! A bunch of knots that were causing so much tension melted away and I walked out of the appointment with my body feeling rejuvenated! Something that struck me as odd were the number of reviewers complaining about not getting their full treatment time. It had me worried that my services would be cut off early. Rest assured this absolutely DID NOT happen and Muammer gave me the full treatment time as booked. I think that when you actually show up on-time with the necessary grace period before your appointment like you're supposed to, you get serviced appropriately. Coming to Spavia was a real treat and I can't wait to book another appointment in the future!

The front desk staff was very helpful -- walking me through the consent forms, showing me the changing area, and helping me set the password for my locker. After changing, you're given a robe and slippers. The robe is incredibly soft and almost weighted, which added to the comfort. It even has pockets for your jewelry or glasses. Phones are not allowed in the treatment area, and no video/photo is permitted past the changing room, which I appreciated (and respected) for privacy. The facial itself was extremely relaxing. The music was at the perfect volume, and the room lighting was dim without being too dark -- just enough to enhance the experience. The service included a hand and arm massage with hot stones and warm compresses, which was such a nice touch. One minute I was getting a scrub, and the next I was waking up -- it was that relaxing. They also have a retail area at the front where you can purchase the products used during your service. Overall, a wonderful first spa experience. I'm already looking forward to booking my second facial and trying other services they offer. 100% would recommend

She recommended next time to do 90min and that I would see the best therapeutic results with a massage every 2 weeks. I would come back again and see Nicole! Since I don't know what she said, I can't confirm whether she was making a snarky remark or not, but it gave off that vibe and honestly, that was very unprofessional to do. Very disappointing experience. I am unable to recommend this business.

I also do most of my work on Zoom so this has affected my job (again, I don't feel comfortable being on camera). I contacted the place and even though they were nice about it, they would not refund my money. I know it is a risk anytime that you do injectables but to do this to a customer and then charge them $730 for it, doesn't sit right with me. However, I will admit that I did come in when I had a Gel-X tip split from another salon and they helped me with a new nail and tried to match the color as much as possible. The pedicures, mainly gel ones LAST 3+ weeks. It's probably their top and base because I've brought in my own gel (LeChat) and the results were the same. (I do avoid using DND/Daisy since I'm not a fan of them.) They also cut my nails as short as I request them to and VERY SHORT. Massages sometimes can be hit or miss since I need a firm, deep tissue. But I will say the consistency of having pedicures that can last forever is great! Don't change Kevin and Team! My only cons are that they don't do Russian/dry manicures as a normal mani treatment. Prices are a little high, but that's typical Diablo Valley prices. Oakland/Berkeley/Alameda are around 10-15% cheaper.
