I expressed concern about this many times. The salesman was defensive & the owner was dismissive. Received a $250 discount (2.6% of the contract price). With all the prep work I did to my empty house (no furniture, no flooring, most light fixtures removed), the crew had very little to remove or cover before painting. I was replacing wall plate covers this week & found that the cable plates in the living room & master bedroom as well as the light switch plate in the laundry room were NOT removed, but just painted around--more evidence of the lack of quality control & attention to detail on my house. I paid them to paint my house last month; now I'm painting areas that were intentionally not done by their crew. Working with Southern Painting is not worth the hassle & dissatisfaction. I'll definitely be hiring another company for any future painting projects.

Around 9:00 AM, someone called me to schedule an appointment for the following week. I did schedule for the following week because I honestly thought they were a different painting company, since I had contacted several and also had other estimates being scheduled. I never heard her clearly say she was calling to reschedule today's confirmed appointment. She may have thought she explained that, but the communication of that critical piece was very vague and brief. A proper introduction should have been something like: "Hi, this is Elizabeth with DFW Painting. I know we have you scheduled today at 10:00 AM, but unfortunately we need to reschedule due to..." That would have made the situation clear. That is a basic and proper opening line for something like this. Because her communication was so unclear, I didn't even realize she was canceling today's appointment and that they were the ones that were already scheduled to come. I am an executive who communicates via email, virtually and in person every day. I am well-versed in proper communication. That confusion and lack of professionalism is why I decided not to move forward with them. Communication is paramount.

But, so put off by responses from the project manager during the aftermath--and being condescended to about how much time was spent correcting outstanding issues THAT THEY CAUSED; I'm still finding overlooked areas like under the fireplace mantle, items that were used w/o permission like my new ladder that had paint marks left on it, and other plaster remains--so, I literally threw up my hands and said "Enough. I'm done." I have hired a new contractor to do additional paint work for a kitchen remodel. They assessed the other interior work done by this company and felt the popcorn removal and ceiling repaint was done satisfactorily, but also noted many inconsistencies in the retexturing and application to the walls and fixtures. I was aware of lot of uneven seams as well. Overall, they considered the work done suitable for flipping a house--done fast and efficient, but lacking in detail. This was a big learning curve for me.

We initially hired them to paint our master bathroom, but with their high quality work, attention to detail, and extremely reasonable prices we kept adding projects from our "wish list" to their scope. Ultimately, not only did they paint the bathroom, but they tiled one of the walls (it looks amazing), painted the upstairs bathroom cabinets, a couple of doors that needed some love, and ultimately, painted most of the exterior of our home. They also threw in the installation of a lot of cabinet hardware (handles and pulls) that we had intended to do ourselves, but due to procrastination (and laziness--let's be honest), hadn't gotten around to doing yet. Lonestar's owners came to our house every day (often multiple times) to check the progress of the work and make sure everything was being done according to our wishes and expectations. If you do, be sure not to pay Chris until you have thoroughly examined the work. This is because there is no urgency to correct any mistakes that they make. I hired Encore Painting to paint my garage in February 2025. It is now March 2026, and they still have not fixed the job. My garage is still the wrong color. Don't be fooled by the good reviews.
